Around Azeroth: Interior desecration
We've seen some pretty horrible things in this feature. Hanging corpses, torture chambers, abomination sewing kits, and of course the legendary faceless gnome have all graced our pages. But this may be the most hideous screenshot I've seen yet. Who in their right minds would hang that painting (which graces the wall of a Steamwheedle Port home) in their domicile? It looks like the eyes would follow you around the room, through the hallway, into the bedroom and then stab you in the face while you slept. Is that some kind of hideous Alliance hero? Also, why is the room wallpapered with the wrapper from a pineapple Dum-Dum? (Thanks to Jarmo for the screenshot!)
Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards.

I think there's a similar painting in Scarlet Monastery. You could almost assume that this one is a forgery - being hung at a Steamwheedle town. (No offense to any of you who may reside there.)

Yikes! That's one of the scarier things I've seen in this game, which is ironic when you think about it...

That's Uncle Jeff. We don't talk about him. Aunt Milly has terrible taste. We also don't talk about that. Only forcing you to visit once a year during the holidays. I don't care if you don't like her kissing your cheeks. Don't complain: she babysat me every day after school. We definitely are not talking about the bathtub. Dear lord, not the bathtub.

Ahhhhh. That is freaky. I bet the eyes follow you as you move.

It's sad that I know exactly where that painting is.

Kind of looks like jesus.

If Jesus had eyes that stuck an inch out of his head. Cutting through your soul.

There's another one in a Goblin's hut in Area 52.
It's the Azerothian version of a Velvet Elvis.

Fugmug Oct 10th 2008 11:15AM

I'm pretty sure I've seen that (or something very similar) in a not-too-easy-to-reach place in Karazhan.

"Also, why is the room wallpapered with the wrapper from a pineapple Dum-Dum?"
Sorry, I LOL'd hard at this. Very good. I haven't seen one of those in a loooong time.

The pineapple wallpaper is a throw-back to old time hotels. A pineapple is an international symbol for hospitality so of course all the hotels plastered the things everywhere you looked. (What this has to do with goblin buildings is beyond me, maybe it's because they cater to both alliance and horde.)

Well, considering the goblin obsession with money and profit, maybe it's just a simple case of an investment gone wrong: bought tons of wall-paper, other races wouldn't buy it, got stuck with it, so everyone and their brother has to use it.

I was definitely more freaked out by the wallpaper. Probably because I've been remodeling my house for the past 4 months.

i think the walls in gadgetzan are wallpapered the same way. why they have a thing for pineapples, i don't know.
