Ghostcrawler introduced to BlizzCon

Ghostcrawler, a.k.a Greg Street, is the lead game systems designer for WoW. Basically that's designing the classes and other systems in the game.
He handled the crowed very well. He probably could do some stand up with his wit. When people booed about something they didn't like he'd make a joke and have them laughing the very next second. Perhaps the best moment is when he jokingly said to a question about retribution paladins: "Don't nerf me, bro!"
If Blizzard wanted to make an impression that they're listening to their fans, they most certainly did with not only having him moderate a great discussion on the beta forums for the past several months, but also please the crowd during a great class panel.
Kudos to him, and the people at Blizzard for allowing him, to casually and honestly interact with the fans.

OMG A TYPO NO WAY
Get over that.
However, ya, I'm confused. On WoWinsider GC has been refferred to as 'she' forever. I guess it doesn't really make much of a differenece (GC has been doing an excellent job no matter what's dangling between her/his legs) but I'm curious as to how that little error happened.

And we still will, it is fun :D
CrowT Oct 10th 2008 6:08PM
GHOSTCRAWLER YEAH!
I dont really know if he is really a cool guy or part of a bigger plan by blizzard.
You know, just like they did a new SW king to be cool, they can make a new Blue to be cool.
To win the simpathy of the fans, to better control them.

How can I hate a friendly looking guy like that? Give us a picture of Kalgan instead.
Zarzuur Oct 10th 2008 6:10PM
GC is a man - WTF?!
Bulgr Oct 10th 2008 6:23PM
Welcome to the Interwebs...
brucimus Oct 10th 2008 6:21PM
Why did everyone assume GC was female?
EGA Oct 10th 2008 6:29PM
What is with all the Fan boy love? GC has not been a great boon to the Shaman board. Important questions go unanswered all the time. Important class mechanic issues.. Scaling issues..
He's not excatly worthy of cheering.
brucimus Oct 10th 2008 6:32PM
what's with all this shammy QQing? ...oh nm that's the norm
Discograndpa Oct 10th 2008 6:41PM
"We're still paying for the first two years where we were a very powerful class. I don't think Blizzard realizes that we've been fairly weak for the last two years as a result of that stigma."
This is why we QQ.
Deal with it.

"GC has not been a great boon to the Shaman board. Important questions go unanswered all the time."
Every class feels that way.
Dpak Oct 14th 2008 4:30PM
I play a shammy, and while we are not druids or DK's we are fine.
Go play other classes as well.
jurandr Oct 10th 2008 6:26PM
So... all those threads about GC being a female. All those 'her' and 'she' references that are everywhere, including wowinsider.
Just... wow.
Tainnym Oct 10th 2008 6:39PM
He's the man!
He saved Retribution Paladins! No more LOLRET!
Zakk Oct 10th 2008 6:34PM
This man is not a hawt chix. WHAT WILL WE DOOOOOO?!
ash Oct 10th 2008 6:40PM
OK, new topic for wowinsider, why did everyone think GC was a she? Someone must unravel this mystery.

There was a post awhile back where he said something along the lines of "Who ever said I'm male? 0.o". Naturally, a great many people automatically assumed that because GC made a deal of it that he wasn't male. Obviously we can see now that he was probably joking, but I am sure that the possibility that Ghostcrawler was female probably turned down the heat from some QQ Beta Testers. I vaguely remember a post that said something along the lines of "You don't talk to a lady like that, even if you're made about something."
Ghost brought up the discussion a while back about never actually saying he was female, just that he might not be male. However, the other Blues responded to this by making cracks like "Ghostcrawler, you left your purse in my office." All in all it made for a very amusing and interesting reveal today :). Sadly, I was one of the ones who thought he was female up until the thread where he pointed out that he never actually mentioned his gender. I had assumed he was a crab :P.
Balius Oct 10th 2008 6:52PM
Because he said at one time that, in reference to being a male, that the person didn't know his gender and was just assuming. So everyone decided that he must NOT be male, and thus he became an internet female.
EGA Oct 10th 2008 6:57PM
That's the thing.. Shamans are not QQ. Elemental Shamans are broken at this point because of Scaling issues. anyone that says that's QQ is an idiot.
Cy Oct 10th 2008 7:06PM
ZOMG you mean you have a broken spec? STOP THE EXPANSION!
Sheesh... welcome to TBC retribution paladins, or arcane mages, or... well, I could make a huge list.
If it's really broken, they'll get to it. There's no reason why Blizzard wouldn't fix a broken class. But just because they're not fixing it to your liking on your timetable... yeah, that's QQ.
