World of Warcraft mouse available for pre-order

Aside from the unique form factor and slick brushed metal enclosure, the $99.99 price tag will give players the ability to make macros with up to 160 characters, a whopping total of fifteen (oh man!) programmable buttons, the ability to drag-and-drop macros, and -- get this -- 16 million illumination choices with 3 intensity and pulsation levels. I have absolutely no idea what that last part means, but it sounds pretty wicked. Probably unnecessary and overboard, but wicked nonetheless.
The mouse, the first ever designed purely for playing World of Warcraft, promises to be beneficial to all players regardless of style or level of play. [CLARIFICATION: It probably works for other applications or games, but it's the first mouse designed from the ground up specifically for playing WoW] Looking like the bastard love child of a Worn Turtle Shield and Tim Burton's cocooned 1989 Batmobile, the mouse will start shipping on November 13 -- around the same time as some sort of game expansion, I think. It's all pretty cool, and I'm just about sold despite the stupefying price tag... I've just got one question: will it work on a Mac?

Pulsation part probably means it lights up and blinks. Your very own strobe light in your hand lol

MAN.. SAAAAHHH-WEET (sweet with style) i want one NOW... though i dont think i could manage to use all 15 buttons, just looking at the one on the side its screaming "rank 1 frostbolt" at me.... im sure theres another one screaming ICELANCE and even another screaming PET NOVA!
and to think, i leveled all the way to 70 using nothing but my touch pad, and i do quite well at it, but im going to buy a new computer soon, a desktop.. i want that mouse!

Left Click, Right Click, a Left Button near the scroll wheel, a Right Button near the scroll wheel, the scroll wheel itself, 2 buttons below the scroll wheel, 2 thumb buttons on the left side, a 4 way d-pad on the left side, and 2 buttons on the right side.
Quite an impressive amount of buttons that I can actually see myself using. The problem is from trying it is that the Right Mouse Button was extremely mushy and didn't always respond right away. However the models on display at Blizzcon were the first ever production models they had apparently so I guess they are going to work out the additional kinks in it. The software can keep various profiles of mouse settings for different games or classes in WoW. Something else that's cool also is that the lights on the mouse actually change color to match the profile you are using so you can tell by glancing at your mouse what profile you are using.
God I sound like a salesman but I was really impressed by this thing. If they can fix the Right Mouse Click I think it's a definite buy for me.

If you're going to spend that much money, do yourself a favor and get the Logitech MX Revolution.

On a side note, what do yo think of the Arena Tournament so far? Pretty awesome of Orz to pull a win off with a Ret, eh Zach?
Zach Oct 10th 2008 8:22PM
Pretty impressed, although Glick has played Ret in past tournaments. Still, WLD rules the day. Kind of boring.
Malkeior Oct 10th 2008 8:34PM
Eh, I really don't care about which classes they play, since in tournaments the "best" classes will always be played, but how they play them.

More importently
DOES IT BLEND?

Pretty sure it can run Crysis though.

to Matazuma,
6 on each side (i'm assuming that big one is a 4 directional) and then 4 on the top (2 below the scroll wheel and 2 right by the side) gives you 16.

thanks for putting this up :)
i think it is pretty awsome even for 100$
if i didn't have my razer cooperhead i wouldn't think twice.

I've been planning on buying a new mouse for a while now, was looking at various logitech mice that offer a few more thumb buttons.... This..... this looks absolutely godly for what I want.

Over-priced and ugly. I hate some of the newest artwork from Blizzard and this is one of the ugliest looking mouse on the market. Good luck on the ergo.
AlexW573 Oct 10th 2008 7:48PM
It sounds absolutely amazing... However, I wouldn't pay above $80 for any keyboard/mouse :(
Phazzer Oct 10th 2008 7:49PM
Taking into consideration the price tag and that most mice/keyboards are USB nowadays I don't doubt it will work on a mac.
Fluffywumpki of Dethecus Oct 10th 2008 7:50PM
only question is, will the customization software be cross platform... the MS Sidewinder, for example, has alot of these features, but no software to use them on Mac. (still awesome as a 5 button, and the vertical buttons are easier on the hand than the front back.)
caronome Oct 10th 2008 10:29PM
I would hope so but fear no mac support. But the
Belkin n52te actually had Mac software so maybe now vendors want Mac money.
G Oct 10th 2008 11:58PM
There's no reason this wouldn't work on a Mac with either USB Overdrive or Steermouse driving it. Not sure what the price has to do with it, though it would keep me from buying one until it hits the bargain bins in a year (and my Logitech MX1000 finally dies).
