BlizzCon 2008: Dance contest highlights
The dance contest at BlizzCon this year was much like the costume contest: many funny, sometimes inept entries and one stand out that took the grand prize, no question. The winner performed the Undead Female dance, but she did more than just mimic the moves, she wove a spell of rythmic seduction and the 8,000 fans attending the contest couldn't get enough of it. You'll see her at the end of the footage above.
There were other entertaining dancers. The ogre dance/striptease (third place) and enthusiastic male troll (second place) were big crowd pleasers. And the many female dancers put their best foot forward going from alluring (female dranei) to raunchy (female orc.) The eight minute video above, generously provided by our mothersite Joystiq, shows you the highlights of the night.
Edit: Corrected second place dance description.

Jack Spicer Oct 11th 2008 4:13PM
The winner was the Undead female dance.

I can understand being addicted to a game like Wow (I am, of course) but that was too much. To be honest, watching the Undead Female dance I just felt sad for her.
Falcio Oct 11th 2008 4:08PM
Oh, let them have their fun.
Besides, the dances /are/ real-life dances, so it's not like they're the first to do that dance in public.
Dane Oct 11th 2008 4:12PM
I totally agree. fun sucks.
Rugus Oct 11th 2008 4:14PM
I was impressed by how much a person can be addicted to a game. That's all.
Giulls Oct 11th 2008 4:17PM
Maybe dancing is a hobby for her, as is WoW. Maybe she did it just for fun.
Try to think about it as an actress portraying a character.
Why does everything related to World of Warcraft have to be thought of as 'what a sad addiction...'?

Indeed, that's why I specified "addicted to a game". In general.
Ugkul Oct 11th 2008 6:36PM
Uh being addicted to dancing is probably better than being addicted to WOW. Anyway, LIGHTEN UP DUDE.
Rugus Oct 11th 2008 6:43PM
Ofc you did not get my point, np.
Graham Oct 11th 2008 7:24PM
Oh please. For all we know, she just saw the Undead Female dance because her boyfriend was playing it. Just because she danced does not AT ALL mean that she is addicted. She might play it day and night or she might not play it at all. She might just like dancing. There is NO WAY to tell.
Plus, even if she IS addicted, it doesn't look like that has been a bad thing for her. She hasn't withered away enough to be unable to attend Blizzcon (or dance).
Your logic is flawed.
Lemons Oct 13th 2008 4:46AM
So...they're addicted to wow just because they're preforming a dance that appears in the wow? That makes no sense dude.
For all you know they could have played wow a single time, saw the dance, learned the dance, and then quit wow forever. yeah...think about that!

I was really impressed with impressed with how the winner took one of the most boring dances in game came up with an entertaining interpretation of it.
I haven't been to a Blizzcon yet, but I have seen video footage of the dance contest before, and I have never seen anyone do the female undead dance before - probably because it is so boring. So big congrats to this gal.
Hesed Oct 12th 2008 5:01PM
I think i'm in love with the undead girl....
Neocene Oct 11th 2008 4:20PM
I have to agree with the female undead dance. She did a great job interrupting the dance and making it her own. i'd never thought of putting that music to go with it.
Treln Oct 11th 2008 4:21PM
-New Dances !
Now you know why it is one of the main features of the expansion pack.
Mr Applebutter Oct 11th 2008 4:26PM
Good lord those are some hideously out of shape people.
Melenor Oct 11th 2008 4:33PM
Was there even one in-shape girl at Blizzcon? They just keep getting pudgier.
placebo Oct 12th 2008 9:45AM
Fat bottomed girls make the world go round, assholes.
Zelaya Oct 13th 2008 4:23PM
I am sooo not out of shape, but apparently I wasn't good enough for the highlights.
But just to prove that not all of us WoW addicts are grossly misshapen:
