One last chance to run Onyxia's key quest

Reader Blinger wrote in to remind us that if patch 3.0.2 does, as expected, go live on the servers tomorrow, tonight will be your last chance (for the foreseeable future) to see one of the best quests in the game, the Alliance Onyxia key quest, featuring Marshall Windsor's valiant walk through Stormwind to confront the deceiving and treacherous dragon. He's hosting a final viewing of the quest tonight on Khaz'goroth at 9:30pm Central, so if you've never seen it go down (and it is cool), you may want to stop by and check it out.In fact, why don't we try to make this a worldwide event? If you have the quest ready to do (or can get ready in the next few hours), why don't we say that at 10:30pm Eastern/9:30pm Central this evening, you can run the quest and let everyone in Stormwind on your realm see just what happens when Marshal Windsor runs out of bubblegum. There's quite a bit of prep work to do, unfortunately, so maybe not every realm will have someone ready to run the quest. But you can use the comments below to coordinate -- sure, everyone could jump onto Khaz'goroth to see Blinger do it, but it would be even more awesome to have every realm experience an unmasking of their own, because tomorrow, it might not be able to happen again.
And of course, if you check out this or any other player-run events, be sure to let us know about it (with pictures if possible, we love pictures). It's always awesome to hear players finding new (or in this case, old) ways to experience the game together.

onyxia attunment is going away in wrath isnt it? just the epic quest thats going away

Yeah, just this quest is going away since the lady is vanishing. you can still finish Onyxxia attunement, just to say you did it (plus the quests count towards the 3k achievement). I'm still going to do my BRS clear for the attunement and the jenkins title...

Just for the record, the Khaz'rogath is an Oceanic server. So before you spend ten minutes looking at the US realm list thinking "wtf where's the realm" make sure to click the 'Oceanic' tab on the bottom of the pane.

Heh, thanks jurandr, I was just about to point this out in comments myself.
Thanks Mike for the hat-tip. Naturally everyone is welcome to us but heck yeah, if you can run this on your own realms, that will be so much fun too! I can't get enough of this quest and so I hope the community will be able to participate either on Khaz or elsewhere. I was half worried about crashing a realm if everyone jumped on (but heck, maybe that would be a way of saying... Blizz, everyone loves this quest, work it back in somehow!!!)
I'll be logged in as Qhona from about 8.30pm realm time and will be logging on and off Blingér as and when lower levels need a port to Stormwind (my mage is on the same account as Bling dammit). Just pst either of these toons in game (or mention here) if you need a port to SW Mage Tower.
Again, thanks for the hat-tip Mike. I'm looking forward to the next couple of days, exciting times and fun prep for Wrath hitting our hard-drives. Keep up the good work - I know wowinsider will be a lifesaver during the long 12-hour downtime tomorrow!

Duh. /facepalm me again here.
Out of habit I wrote Qhona will be on from 8.30pm realm time... I meant 8.30pm Central time.
Time-zones hate me. I guess that is what I get for being a European living in the USA playing on an Oceanic. :P

It's a sad day. Not that I will miss the lengthy quest line (especially Horde side heh, what a PITA), but instead of removing it all together, they could've simply shorten it; it's a pretty chunk of lore that's going the way of the dodo here, as well as a reason to run BRD/BRS for those purists.

Sucks they are removing it - Jailbreak was the first noob-filtering quest in the game prior to TBC.
And the Horde's 5-man quest in LBRS was no picnic either.
Sure it's a cakewalk now at 70, but back before TBC, you needed a smart group and pre-clearing to get it done.

I think it is worth noting, that the reason this is removed is because (from my understanding at least) Lady Prestor will no longer be standing in the throne room, now that the King of Stormwind is back.
So, from a lore standpoint, it doesn't make any sense to have this chain in the game anyone.
I do however agree it was a pretty good one, and suggest everyone with the patience and capability to attempt it before it is gone :-)

I totally agree it has to be removed from a lore point of view but the hope I think people (like myself) have on this being re-included later would be if they ever introduced the phasing technology they are applying in Wrath to quests such as this. Not very probable, at least in the near future, but like a true nerd I, and many others, cling to what little hope we might have... heh :)
And if not, this will, hopefully, be a night to remember!!

If this quest is getting removed because of Onyxia leaving, what will happen with "The missing Diplomat" quest?

All quests that involve Bolvar or Prestor are getting plug-pulled. Any quest (and there are a lot) that talk about the *present status* of the king are being removed or re-worded.

Had problems sleeping last night and I just did this part. It was like 3am so hardly anyone was around. I think it was actually pretty nice just walking through stormwind, he and I; as opposed to 30 people running around all over and making me lag. A warrior ran off with a few of the guards - and that was sort of amusing to watch in itself, but for the most part I got to watch it alone.
Man I've spent like the last few weeks trying to level, then running BRD over and over to check this out... sort of exhausting with some of the groups I've run with. It did make me appreciate how much I hate leveling in outland and how fun some of the old instances can be (never got the chance to get sick of them). Think I'll just keep trying to run Strath and Scholo for a while.

I'm glad I got my main attuned when I did. I've got my druid part way through the chain, but I doubt I'll be finishing it with her. I think I will go on tonight and finish through the confrontation with Onyxia anyway. Give myself one last chance to see the Marshal's fall. But I don't think I'll be able to swing a UBRS run to finish the sucker tonight.
I wish they'd have found a way to leave it in though. Call it a time warp or something and phase the castle for the event or something. It's too epic a chain to face oblivion.

A friend and I just did this last night. I am going to miss this quest (The Great Masquerade). Anytime I heard Marcus Jonathan or Katrana Prestor yell, I'd always come help. It was a great feeling, walking through Stormwind with Reginald Windsor, amassing a group of other players and slowly making our way to the Keep to take on Onyxia. We're going to try to complete the chain and get fully attuned tonight, if we can find other people and get a key. If anyone is on Vek'nilash (alliance) and wants to come (I think about 8pm server), just message Inka :)

I did the quest 2 weeks ago thinking of this i should have waited though it is a GREAT! quest... i hope ppl does it in time.... i hate they have to take it off...
an the attunement for onixya and naxx are going away because you wont need them naxx cuz is moving to northrend duh.... and onixia cuz the stormwind king is BACK.

I wish they made use of their phasing technology or something similar instead. I play horde, but have fond memories of this from my alliance days.

I just created a level 5 mage on the realm named Aurendar. I at least want to walk Stormwind just one last time! Would be GREAT to get EVERYONE to do this walk tonight!

I've had 2 out of my 3 70s attuned for quite some time, but my main has been halfway through it for ages. Yesterday I got bored and decided to finish it. After I finished getting my Drakefire Amulet somebody pointed out that it was getting removed tomorrow lol. Glad I finished it on him while I still could. It was definitely one of the greater quest chains.
