One last chance to run Onyxia's key quest
Reader Blinger wrote in to remind us that if patch 3.0.2 does, as expected, go live on the servers tomorrow, tonight will be your last chance (for the foreseeable future) to see one of the best quests in the game, the Alliance Onyxia key quest, featuring Marshall Windsor's valiant walk through Stormwind to confront the deceiving and treacherous dragon. He's hosting a final viewing of the quest tonight on Khaz'goroth at 9:30pm Central, so if you've never seen it go down (and it is cool), you may want to stop by and check it out.In fact, why don't we try to make this a worldwide event? If you have the quest ready to do (or can get ready in the next few hours), why don't we say that at 10:30pm Eastern/9:30pm Central this evening, you can run the quest and let everyone in Stormwind on your realm see just what happens when Marshal Windsor runs out of bubblegum. There's quite a bit of prep work to do, unfortunately, so maybe not every realm will have someone ready to run the quest. But you can use the comments below to coordinate -- sure, everyone could jump onto Khaz'goroth to see Blinger do it, but it would be even more awesome to have every realm experience an unmasking of their own, because tomorrow, it might not be able to happen again.
And of course, if you check out this or any other player-run events, be sure to let us know about it (with pictures if possible, we love pictures). It's always awesome to hear players finding new (or in this case, old) ways to experience the game together.

Would it be too much to ask for that any spoilers for whatever cool/interesting event happens on live US realms a day ahead of Europe is kept under breaks? (Kind of like how it is supposed to work with Beta information but doesn't?)

Not in this case, since it's a warning that this is leaving and if people want to do it they need to do it NOW. They waited until the last day for it.

I'd love for someone to take a nice resolution video of someone turning in this quest. I've already completed it, but I've spent quite some time looking for a video to show to my friends who have not.
It's just a thought, but it would be nice to have someone record the event for posterity.
Blinger Oct 13th 2008 5:00PM
A great idea! I am hoping to capture what I can tonight - if anyone else is capturing their events (or the one on Khaz) maybe they can drop me a line and I'll happily edit them all together into a community tribute video to this epic quest.

Well crap. I'm only level 46. Am I SOL?
zappo Oct 13th 2008 5:09PM
To do it yourself? Yes. You can however watch others do the part with Marshal Windsor which is the climax of the quest line.
And when he talks to Lady Prestor, stand the hell back.

Although most of my chars are Horde, I did level a Paladin to 70 to see how the other half live - and I even managed to get the BRD stuff done in 1 group!
When I did the Stormwind 'walk' quite a few people tagged along and it was great.
One guy even sent me a tell to say he "couldn't wait to make 60 so he could do it too".
I hope he made it :)
Shkam Oct 13th 2008 5:08PM
You can still do this hordeside eh?
Tristan Oct 13th 2008 5:11PM
I'm so excited for this! We have always loved doing this quest (and we have a lot of toons 50+) and it's always a hoot when loads of people tag along. Can't wait to see you there Bling! I'll be there with bells...once I figure out which of my toons has the prettiest dress to wear for the occasion ;) Great idea Blinger, and thanks Mike for the notice! Go Khaz'Goroth!

I've done this recently with my chars (2) and recorded it. One I recorded using the gnomevision goggles from brewfest, for fun. I'm going to edit the videos and put them on youtube :)
It's a great quest, I really loved it... I would like to see it adapted to the new lore, or at least they should keep Windsor's parade.

Go ahead and start downranking this comment.
I'm starting to get really tired of the alliance QQ'ing over loosing a quest. So what if it was fun, not like the Horde ever got a bad ass attunement. No, it was just annoying as hell. Please get over the fact that they are removing a quest/attunement from the game that should have been removed when TBC hit stores.

The horde have the Thrall quest in Nagrand which is freakin' awesome. So they got their own epic moment in BC. I actually got a tauren hunter up to 70 JUST so I could do the Thrall quest because I had spied on it so much on my alliance characters. So yeah, the alliance just lost their equivalent. And the horde get another AWESOME quest in Northrend concerning undercity this time that the alliance have a counterpart in, but it's not as personal. Alliance do not have anything else besides the Windsor quest that I can think of even nearing this level of lore awesomeness.
Blinger Oct 13th 2008 6:52PM
I don't think I could have expressed that better, Anteia. The Thrall quest is one of 2 reasons I want to level a horde toon (3 years on and I've never got one beyond 20-something) but a DK will change that. Not sure why I love playing the Alliance so much because reading Horde-side lore is what makes my day.
VSUReaper Oct 14th 2008 9:23PM
Woo hoo.... we get to see Thrall in his lvl 40 something armor (I think thats what I read here somewhere on WOWInsider) show up and talk to his granny. He then tries to go inspire someone. Yeah, its kinda cool, but not epic. I think it looses it's coolness factor with the fact that we have to wait like 30 min for him to finish his boo-hoo session before we get our buff.
And for the northrend quest where Varinathus suceeds from the Forsaken, I think that its epic for both sides, not one or the other.
I dunno, I pvp, so I cant get all up in arms over quests. To me, quests are there to get me to the max level, and thats it.
jurandr Oct 13th 2008 6:45PM
since alliance seem to be reading all over this:
Where should I be parking my lvl 1 human warrior? I made it to stormwind, but this horde playa isn't sure where to be.
Blinger Oct 13th 2008 6:58PM
Argh, hopefully this doesn't glitch and post twice. Browser died mid-reply - argh!
Squire Rowe is who I will talk with to start the summon. He is
located here: http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=17804
Basically in the Valley of Heroes on the edge of Elwynn Forest and Stormwind City.
jurandr Oct 13th 2008 7:09PM
hehe.. thanks for the reply =P Kind of ironic I ended up whispering you right after you post this, eh?
Gimmlette Oct 13th 2008 7:33PM
We were just talking about this in GC last night. One of my guild members is up to the part where he has to find Windsor. A few people were talking about trying to get him at least through talking to Lady Prestor before tomorrow. I'll have to see how they did.
Having walked what seemed like 80 people through that quest chain, part of me is not sad not to have to rescue Windsor yet again. But so much lore is being lost with Prestor gone. I keep thinking she could be moved to another location in Stormwind, a vacant building in the dwarven district, perhaps, where you still had a confrontation with her. Or have her walk through SW when you talked to someone. It's always a highlight to have people in the throne room who know nothing of the story and there are suddenly dragons.
But, this is how a game evolves. Maybe Blizzard could make a contest where you figure out how to fit the lore back into the game. I wasn't around when the horde guy in the graveyard at Southshore ran amok when horde people talked to him. I hear that was an awesome event which was nerfed.
Phazzer Oct 13th 2008 8:20PM
Has anyone else noticed that Blinger on Khaz`Gorath is a hordie? i thought this was an alliance quest.
Ceili Oct 13th 2008 8:33PM
Phazzer, the character to look for is actually "Blingér" on alliance side. You can also look up Qhona, who is Bling's other account and currently online! Sorry about that!
