Shadow Council gnome rogues learn Draconic
This takes my vote for best bug of the patch, if not best bug ever. And not just because it's taking place on my home realm. Apparently as of yesterday's patch, each and every gnome rogue on Shadow Council (US) was endowed with the ability to speak and understand the Draconic language. Newly created gnome rogues don't have it, though, so please don't go flooding my realm with new characters. Get off my lawn!
There is one theory as to how this came to pass. The Scepter of the Shifting Sands quest chain, which was how the gates of Ahn'Qiraj were opened back in the day, has as one of its parts a quest to reassemble "Draconic for Dummies.". Apparently at some point in the Wrath beta, players who completed that quest were awarded the ability to speak Draconian. Also apparently, one gnome rogue on Shadow Council by the name of Mag had just recently finished that quest before the patch hit.
So what if Blizz attempted to patch in learning Draconian as a reward for that quest, but accidentally gave it to all characters of the same race and class as the player who completed the quest? It sounds unlikely, but other servers don't seem to be affected by this bug; I'm having trouble thinking of an alternate explanation. If everyone who's completed the Draconian for Dummies quest could check their languages, that would be helpful. Also helpful would be reports if there are any other characters that seem to have the language.
[thanks, SpaceDrake]

Warlocks in Demon form speak only in Demonic.
Sometimes I love being on an RP server.
Madrox Oct 15th 2008 5:07PM
Players afflicted with curse of tongues also speak in demonic.

Of course. But it's difficult to cast CoT on yourself. :)

I've said since day one, warlocks need to be able to learn demonic. Maybe I can leverage this case as I always thought the worry was that horde locks could understand us also. Giving us the ability to communicate across factions.

You have doomed their Dun Morogh to horrible lagginess!

aw, man... i have a female Gnome Rogue on SC... i need to check this out!

Actually my gnome rogue has draconic on Rexxar too...I thought it was a bit odd. She's only 39 and really hasn't done crap all the triple invite a friend xp bonus kinda kills any ability to explore more then one area at certain level chunk.

Do you have any idea how far along the sceptre line that particular rogue is? I've completed the assembling of Draconic for Dummies but still have the Arcanite Bouy sitting in my inventory and haven't went to kill Maws yet and haven't finished the shard quest line. Unlike Mag, it's been a few months since I've gotten as far as I have with the quest line.

We will be killing Maws this week and probably Eranikus the next. I don't know alot about the questline, but I know Mag has gotten the shard from Nefarian and she's also gotten all the fragments off the dragon.

Someone in my guild was speaking in Titan after the patch...no one else had the option to...this may be related.
Taedirk Oct 15th 2008 5:52PM
I saw at least one other person speaking Titan on Twisting Nether in Stormwind, but I didn't really pay attention to it at the time.

My 22 Gnome Rogue on Korgath also has this ability.

I've been kinda disappointed that Blizz hasn't allowed us to learn any other languages yet. I'd love to have this bug.
Aerivia Oct 15th 2008 8:08PM
Yeah, I'm a little surprised they haven't implemented a way to learn other languages - other games (Everquest comes to mind) have that functionality standard. It's obviously possible, as this bug points out, to learn other languages. I wonder, then, why if all it takes is a little mis-type of code that they haven't given us the chance to learn new languages?
I mean, the obvious Horde/Alliance faction issues aside.

if its gonna be considered a skill, we should be able to learn more.
this kind of glitch is cool

This bug also seems to be affecting mid to high level dwarf rogues on Scarlet Crusade, RP server. In fact, I am going to miss it when they take it out; my character is an archaeologist who would know Draconic for its historical significance.

So, do people actually have the option to speak in Draconic?
And if so, has Blizz actually programmed in a text encoder that messes with your words to people who don't know Draconic? If so, that'd be a pretty clear indicator that they intend to allow people to learn this, and possibly other languages, at some point in the game.
A screen shot showing the language actually being spoken would be great.

The Draconic encoder already exists. During the beginning of the Netherwing quest chain, Dragons speak to you in Draconic.
