Brew of the Month for October: Autumnal Acorn Ale
Apparently that 200 tokens I spent on the Brew of the Month club was well spent -- I got my second Brew in the mail this week, and it's a good one. Autumnal Acorn Ale is not only tasty, but it'll make you smell like Autumn Acorns, too. Drinking it will get you drunk and call Woodland Squirrels up to show you a little critter love (or hate). I sipped it for the first time last night during a Slave Pens run, and at one point I had three cute little squirrels showing their affection. Apparently they'll also throw acorns at you, though I missed that in the chaos of the instance last night.Plus, it's an unlimited use item after 3.0.2 (14 day duration, though BotM members can buy more in Ironforge), which means you get as much alcohol as you want, and every time you drink one, you get an "empty brew bottle" to throw with a glassbreak bang. Very fun.
If you didn't round up enough tokens to become a BotM member, you're unfortunately out of luck -- I originally thought you could buy the brews in Ironforge even if you weren't subscribed, but no dice, and the brews you get sent are soulbound. You'll have to wait until next Brewfest to sign up for your monthly beer. Can't wait to see what shows up next month!

Sadly, you can only buy the beer of that month, too. I'd have seriously paid up a hell of a lot of money on Gnomish Binary Beer over the months if it had stayed.

Darn, that means I missed the first month, I signed up during brewfest, but this is the first brew I received, oh well bad timing I guess

Yes, and that means nobody gets credit for the brewfest for the Binary Brew either (under achievments), unless Blizz fixes that.
Sean Riley Oct 16th 2008 8:06PM
Man, that's not retroactive? Lame!
Now I'm calling for it. Blizzard, I'm calling you out! Put out all the previous brews up for sale to members of the Brew of the Month club!

@Amaxe: I have credit for Binary Brew on two of my characters. You just had to buy some of it near the end of the last day of September. When I logged in on patch day, it had 7 hours left on the duration.

A bit late now however... and certainly nothing we could anticipate

If you can't be there to pic up the mail for a couple of mounths will you still be able to buy the brews? I have the membership (gnomeish binary anyone?)

Unfortunately, the brewfest vendor sells ONLY the brew of the month, and not any of the previous months...
... If I had known, I would have saved my Gnomish binary brew from last month instead of squandering it—I thought that, as the months went by, the vendor will eventually sell 12 different kinds of brew for me.
So, according to my achievements, I've only drunk the Autumnal Acorn Ale.

According to http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=10535471058&sid=1&pageNo=4#67 "This particular club technically lasts from October 2008 - September 2009 no matter when you begin the quest, though if you bought it earlier you had access to the vendor and thus Binary Brew."
So looks like come September 2009 we will be receiving the Binary Brew in the mail. Those who managed to purchase it from the vendor in Sept 2008 just got a little headstart, is all.

i like my brewfest ponykeg :)
offday Oct 16th 2008 9:23PM
Me too. But now I wish I would have done the brewfest dailies a few more times, so I could have got this too.
badjoke Oct 16th 2008 6:54PM
Where do you buy more? The innkeeper and barmaid aren't giving me any love.
cjshrader Oct 16th 2008 6:59PM
If you're Horde, you can buy more in one of those little troll areas in Orgrimmar. The one to the west. I apologize for not knowing the exact name but there's some trolls in there that sell the items.

so that's how you get the squirrels

Is WoWInsider an Alliance-only blog?
You guys always mention very off-handedly where Alliance players can pick up the item at hand, but you often forget about those of us who belong to this little faction known as "Horde," leaving the job to the commenters. Could you spend the extra thirty seconds checking wowhead or wherever and give complete, equal info to all players? After all, Horde players pay the same each month to play and view the same ads on WoWInsider as the Alliance players do. Thanks!

And with this, ladies and gentlemen, we have now come full-circle. From being obviously Horde biased to obviously Alliance biased, WoW Insider covers all possibilities.

This being a collection of articles and blogs, it probably means the author of this piece rolls Alliance.
If WoWInsider is biased in favor of the Alliance, it would be an anamoly in the WoW community
So stop with the QQ and try a little thing called "WoWHead"

So what they need to do, obviously, is be certain that for certain topics, they mention both factions. I don't see why it's difficult to be faction neutral when applicable.
Amaxe Oct 16th 2008 9:25PM
You could also start your own perfectly balanced WoW site too. Simply saying that one can buy it in IF is no more a useful reference telling Alliance people where to go than saying that you can by saying Thrall is in Ogrimar. Anyone who wants to know can look it up, and normally I do have to look these things up

Does signing up for the BotM club only last for one year, or does it apply to the character for the rest of his/her life?
