Poll: How many Achievement points have you earned?
Sure, it's only been a few days, but achievements are all for nothing if you can't brag about them, right? We're curious -- how are you doing with achievement pointage so far? Have you not bothered yet, or have you been working tirelessly to earn a bunch of meaningless points? As of last night, I still had under 1000, but a few people online had up above 2000, so I'd expect the average to be in between those two. We aren't quite sure how many points there are total to be earned (you'd think that would be part of the UI, so you could compare yourself to the total), but from our calculations, it seems like there are probably around eight to nine thousand points or so to pick up.
How many do you have so far?
| Under 100. What are achievements? | |
|---|---|
| 100-500 | |
| 500-1000 | |
| 1000-1500 | |
| 1500-2000 | |
| 2000-2500 | |
| 2500-3000 | |
| 3000-4000 | |
| 4000-5000 | |
| 5000-6000 | |
| 6000-8000 | |
| Over nine, er... 8000! |

You *can* see how many Achiements you have out of the total.
I do believe that the majority of points are to be gained only when WotlK hits, and quite a few of them simply take time (world events etc.).

I think you can only see the *number* of achievements you have versus the total, but not the total number of achievement points possible.
For example, I think that I had around 179 achievements out of 750 (not sure about this number). But I have 1,300 achievement points. That has no total given.

The poll options are too wide. I bet just about everyone is on 500-1000 or 1000-3000. (1895 here)

Fair enough. I've tweaked the options. The poll will be off a little bit (because people will have voted for the old options before I changed them), but I think we'll still get a good idea of where people are at.

8% have over 8,000... REALLY ? That seems like a really crazy high percentage. I call shenanigans !

3 70s, all under 100. I think my rogue has 30 something.
Meh.

What do you do in WoW, sell gold? Cripes even my level 1 bank alt has 3. :p
Bbcversus Oct 17th 2008 2:42PM
Around 1900 points.
Anyone knows what is the max number of points say if u have all the achievements done? (Wotlk ones included)
Doujhe Oct 17th 2008 2:43PM
I get 'em when I get 'em. I only recall 2 popping up. So I'm probably under 100, but I know what they are. And if they link them to the armory (which will be nice when it's live again, and I'm aware they most likely will), I'll be able to see them from my day job and let you know.

People are lying in this poll. I've worked my ass off for months, I had nearly all the ones pre-completed I could before 3.0.2, and Ive been working hard these last few days. I have about 2600. I refuse to beleive some people have over 5000 already. I don't even know if you CAN get over 8000.

I honestly can't say I'm too ecstatic about achievements. I will probably try and complete a few that are moderate in difficulty and give some rewards (Mounts and titles).
But one I can't wait to try and well... achieve, is the one involving a kill to each of the opposite faction leaders. 40 man raids assaulting cities sounds fun and getting a black bear mount sounds like icing on an already too sweet cake.

I've got 1250 points, but a lot of things are missing (couldn't be counted, I guess?), like Stratholme, Sunken Temple, etc. I found it odd that nothing for MC or BWL was on the list. Too bad.

Where is the "I don't care, and I wish I could remove this section of the user interface" option?
goaway Oct 17th 2008 6:12PM
/agree
All I want to know is how to turn off the damn notifications popping up everywhere spamming guild chat etc. This stupid achievement crap is pissing me off. People getting achievements for going to the barber shop, picking their nose, scratching their balls. gtfo. turn it off. make it go away. its annoying.
Omestes Oct 17th 2008 3:10PM
What do people have against them? I've seen a LOT of annoyance on them.
They are completely superfluous, they don't hurt anyone, they don't give anyone an advantage, they are just there for amusement. If you don't like them, IGNORE them, pretty simple solution. Not bothering won't hurt your game.

TO TURN ACHIEVEMENT NOTIFICATIONS OFF
1) Go into your chat properties (settings) by right clicking one of the chat tabs.
2) Uncheck "GUILD NOTIFICATION"
3) ???
4) Silence!

I've got to LOL at noobs who @$? about achievement notifications but don't do a thing about it.
You do know that your chat windows have settings, yes? Please go there and remove the checkmark for achievements. It's that simple.
Next you'll be asking where your mounts are and where the lexicon of power is... Seriously it's like major patches make 90% of players turn back into noobs who can't find their @$#? with a map and a tourist guide.
Saelorn Oct 17th 2008 3:42PM
Whoever said it was the guild notifications that bothered me? I want a way to stop tracking my own, and I definitely want to get it away from useful areas of the interface such as the quest log and the LFG tool.
It's just bloat. Another thing that many people don't want and never asked for (like arenas).
Maybe someone will come out with an add-on to hide those parts of the UI and not go through that little animation when I achieve something. That would be nice.
Jonny Dale Oct 17th 2008 2:49PM
I have 63 or so on my level 70 main, and about 30 on my level 50.
Not bothering to get any.
sæm Oct 17th 2008 2:54PM
I got my Jenkins title last night, thats all that matters :P
