WoW Insider Show goes live on Ustream tomorrow

Other than that, nothing else has changed -- we're still providing news and views on the World of Warcraft, and yes, Turpster is still along for the ride. Tomorrow on the show, we'll ask him why he couldn't find a ship captain to carry him across the ocean to BlizzCon, and we'll welcome WoW Insider blogger Adam Holisky (who was at BlizzCon), and our good friend Patrick Beja, who not only attended nearly every panel at last weekend's BlizzCon, but has actually been inside Blizzard HQ as well. Plus, we don't know if you've heard of a little thing called patch 3.0.2, but we'll take a look at what Echoes of Doom has given us, including achievements, glyphs, and all the strange things you've been discovering this week. And we'll even look at what it hasn't given us quite yet.
Oh, and did we mention the giveaways? We'll be giving away not one or two but three different loot card codes to live listeners, which is more than we've ever given out before. Remember, instead of WoW Radio, come visit us at our new Ustream channel, tomorrow afternoon at 3:30pm Eastern, for the revamped WoW Insider Show. Same time, same people, same fun, different URL. See you there.
Lots of questions in the comments. Some answers:
Q: Will there be a new IRC channel?
A: Nope, the Ustream chat is it. It's very robust, and we hope to run it through the paces tomorrow, so the more people who show up the better.
Q: Will we be able to download the show via iTunes?
A: Yes! Although you will have to subscribe to a new iTunes feed, which isn't quite set up yet. But we'll have it ready by the time we post about the show next Tuesday, so stay tuned for that. Other than the URL we're streaming from (and the new iTunes URL), nothing much else about the show has changed -- we'll still do it every week, it'll be the same people, and in the same format.
Q: Why the change?
A: There are a number of reasons, the biggest of which is just that we're our own site, and we should have our own show. Obviously, we're big fans of what they do at WoW Radio, and when they do something big (we hear there are big plans in the works over there), you'll still hear about it on WoW Insider. TB and his crew do a great job and will continue to do so. But we figured it was about time the WoW Insider Show became a WoW Insider project, so it's all us now.

Horrible. I can't listen live so now I have to download some software that I don't want to listen to your show.
This may be the end of me listening to the WoW insider show. Gratz.

turpster made the show worth listening to. i listened every week, when turpster was on. without him this show won't be anything.
i am not a fan of the choice to leave the wow radio site, and the lack of the t, so i won't be listening anymore. GG!

Is there a new venue for people who want to chat-along with the show on IRC too?
Ninemarks Oct 17th 2008 4:41PM
Will we still be able to download the archive via iTunes? Thanks!
PimpyMicPimp Oct 17th 2008 4:40PM
So do you need a different RSS feed to download the podcast?
Tordenflesk Oct 17th 2008 7:50PM
I'm hoping there'll be a regular RSS-feed for us allergic to all things Apple.
Beauvis Oct 18th 2008 7:41AM
Yeah. As a Zune listener I'd need a new RSS feed.

I read the loot card things and it makes it mighty tempting, but usually get confused as to how in the crap you plan to give it. Is it a mad dash to record and enter or something? I mean, that seems like how it has been.
I probably should read the archives, huh.

wow this is pretty ubrupt. So.....WC Radio can't handle the traffic from WoW Insider eh?
None of my business right?
deviationer Oct 17th 2008 4:57PM
abrupt*

Just to weigh in, traffic is not an issue. We have hosted and continue to host longer-running and more popular podcasts on a weekly basis without any issues. Indeed, as some of you probably noticed, we handled Blizzcon this year with less technical problems than Direct-TV. Our site can handle it just fine. I imagine they'll explain the whole thing on their show.
WoW Radio on the other hand will of course be bringing a show on the air to replace the loss to our schedule. Check our site over the next few days for more information.
We've had a good run with WoW Insider, but all birds must eventually leave the nest. Best of luck to them.

Couldn't handle it? We've handled quite a few projects, larger in scale than the WoW Insider Show. Quite certain that wasn't the reason. But of course, I have no inside info! :) hehe

I'm curious too? After WC Radio went to all the trouble last week of getting you guys set up at Blizzcon, this seems really sudden. I'm just curious what happened.
Sayce Oct 17th 2008 5:03PM
I'm glad Turpster is gonna be around still though. Is that going to be ongoing, or just temporary?
Mike Schramm Oct 17th 2008 7:35PM
Turpster will be on for as long as he wants to be on, which is for the foreseeable future, as far as I know.
We will send the Ret Monkey to his house, along with his friend the Feral Ferret, however, if he decides he doesn't want to do it any more.

Hmm... well the reason I listen to WoW Radio shows is because I can listen in my own music player for both live shows and the archives, and if I choose to chat I can do it via standard IRC.
Unless I'm mistaken, to do either with the new show I'll have to be online and do so via my web browser and Flash. That completely loses the convenience factor for me, although I'm sure others will love the all-in-one approach.
Ah well, good luck to you guys. It's been fun listening to the show each week.
Cy Oct 17th 2008 5:30PM
Bah, of course I'd have to be online (except for the archives).
Djinn Oct 17th 2008 6:31PM
Yeah Turpster will definitely need to remain a staple. I think he is a large part of the success of the show.
Eriyanna Oct 28th 2008 1:19AM
Unfortunately, due to a new show that is going to be airing at WoW Radio, neither Turpster, nor Duncor will be present on the WoW Insider show in future.
