Recruit-a-Friend levels fizzle in Patch 3.0.2

Even more surprising was a dismissive response by Game Master Issuntril that basically said, "they're gone, sorry for the inconvenience." Naturally, there was an uproar over at the forums over this as the free levels are one of the most appealing benefits of the program (no, it's not the Zebra, really). Subsequent responses from other GMs were more sympathetic and advised a wait-and-see attitude stating that Blizzard was aware of the problem and were looking into solutions on how to fix it. Hopefully this problem gets resolved. While it's understandable that intangibles such as free levels might be harder to restore, these are arguably as important as gear. Considering how swiftly Blizzard hotfixed the issue with pets and mounts (not the selling part yet, unfortunately), there's hope for a resolution yet.

The plot thickens!
Wow Europe is confirming a fix:

However, in the US forums they say the issue is still "under consideration" and they are deleting any links to the post on the EU forums saying it's been fixed:

I am not honestly that upset about the fact that this happened. Sure I lost quite a few levels, but as someone already mentioned, it takes me and my RaF partner about 24hours/played to hit 60. And I've been playing this game long enough to know that bad things happen around patch time and should have used to lvls beforehand.
What upsets me is the people who think that this is "a horrible system that never should have been implemented." Seriously, why is it bad? cause you didn't get to do it when you were lvling? I have leveled 3 70's without the RaF bonus, so I know what it is to "earn the levels" For me this, provided a nice way to get more characters without having to go through the time consuming process of leveling again. With more toons at 70 I can get a fuller experience of the game. All Blizz wanted was to get the word out about WotLK, it's not their fault when people exploit it. So to stop the ranting....Do I think it should be fixed? Yes, because I paid for it. Will I B**** if it doesn't? No. I'll just keep it in mind next time blizz has a special offer.

A blue pretty much confirms the fix is for the EU servers only (at this time). This ought to raise some hackles.

Blue poster says:
"
Right now there is an issue granting levels gained pre-patch.
We are expecting that to be addressed with maintenance today, if all goes well.
Any gained post-patch should work at the moment just fine.
Please check again when the realms return and let us know if there is still any issues.
