Breakfast Topic: Are server outages driving you to other games?
I hate to be blunt about it, but I've heard quite a few WoW friends tell me that the rampant server crashes that have cropped up since Patch 3.0.2 have driven them to other MMO's until Blizzard fixes the problem. Many other games are offering Halloween/Fall Festival type activities including City of Heroes, Lord of the Rings Online and EverQuest 2 and many of us have played those titles (and still do!)Are you waiting it out, slogging through or heeding the siren call of other online games?

Well, my server's not really gone down any, but the 600+ person queues every night is definitely making me not want to even bother.

Sounds like your server will be up for free transfers to another server in the near future. Or the pop might just be up from people from crashing servers going to yours until their server gets fixed.

I dunno - my server is the same. I'd never had to queue to get onto it until Sunday when I had a 10 minute wait. Its just that with all the instability issues at the moment, it seems unlikely that this isn't related.

sorry to hijack this top post but if you came to this thread expecting to read about wether anyone is switching to other MMO's or even to hear as to what specific realms are functioning poorly then don't read on.
This is about a hundred posts all parroting: "My realm is lagging badly, QQ!!"
No one has said which realms are still affected, wether they've switched to another game or what they have done in the meantime except one guy who said he plays Spore. All the rest of the posts are pointless.

No but jaw dropping censorship on the forums might.
A post regarding the Achievement "What a Long, Strange Trip it's Been" which is basically get all the holiday meta achievements...
[the RNG drop rate % * the RNG roll * number of RNG requirements for the achievement = hyper bummed best customers, who have spent up to two years (brew of the month club) working on it]
Post just deleted, poof.

I'm actually getting some homework done instead. Thank you Blizzard for contributing to my education.

Warsong is plagued, iterruptions every 5 minutes, world server down since 5pm yesterday, 'till midnight no sign of life.
Spencer Stevens Oct 20th 2008 8:11AM
I'm trudging through the gunk. I have faith that everything will be back to normal in the coming week or two. Until then, I'll take the 5 minute loot times.

Fortunately enough, or server hasn't had too many drops. Well, not enough to off me from WoW.
Xtek Oct 20th 2008 8:14AM
Already deactivated all 3 of my accounts with the reason being server stability.
RogueJedi86 Oct 20th 2008 8:14AM
I've been playing Spore!
Vidi Oct 20th 2008 7:04PM
I am grimme on Spore Add me to your buddy list...whats your name Ill add you.
I love Spore....at least two of my WOW ccharacters have been unable to log in for days ( and they rotate so I never know which character IIll actually get to play )
RogueJedi86 Oct 20th 2008 7:07PM
My name is as you see here. I don't have much to show off, since I can't play space much(had to take out my video card when it went bad on me, bad space performance). Still, for seeding each other's creations, I'm game. ;)

If you're quitting over server breaks, something that everyone should have expected after that true monster-sized patch, then you shouldn't be playing anyway. Nyah nyah. :P

Ademiri Oct 20th 2008 8:16AM
First time in 3 months we have enough on to raid and the server is crap...
We all went and played other stuff and just hung out on vent.

Anyone remember when patch 2.0 came out? It was just as bad. People come back to check out the new talents, new skills, etc. They'll stick around maybe till wrath, then they'll move on again, it'll die down.
If my server is down or full, I simply go play CoD4, watch a movie, read a book, study, etc...
It'll go back to normal, I'm sure this is all just caused by the sudden surge of players.
anonymoose Oct 20th 2008 10:40AM
Actually I remember 2.0 very clearly--and it wasn't this bad. I now have multiple 70s on a variety of servers, and the instability I'm encountering on a range of them (not all in the same battlegroup mind you) is more than a little distressing.
The other thing that is making me consider quitting at this stage: achievements. I consider this the ultimate insult in a game that already contains plenty of time sink elements. Thanks but no thanks, I don't want mediocrity rewarded, and no, I don't want to revisit every old world instance I've ever done just so I can call it an "achievement".
Call it what it is: busy work.
Jorges Oct 20th 2008 1:35PM
Uhm Achievements are "OPTIONAL". If you feel like you NEED or HAVE to do them, it is completely up to you.
Most of them are accomplished without you even knowing anyway.
