Around Azeroth: Burning frustration
It may not seem like much, but this picture is representative of about ten similar shots I've gotten in the past two days. All of them feature multiple Headless Horseman corpses, large groups of frustrated people, and comments along the lines of "AIIEEEEE why won't the STUPID PET drop to get the STUPID ACHIEVEMENT for the STUPID DRAKE." After summoning in his whole guild and still failing to get the drop, Caegal of Genjuros-EU expresses his frustration in the only way available to in-game avatars.
Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards.

Only one person in my guild has seen that pet... And it dropped 3 times in a row for his group. >.

in before all the people bragging about how the pet or mount dropped for them.
Steve Oct 21st 2008 10:18AM
I guess I just got real lucky... I saw the pet drop twice in the first two days of running the thing.

wow. too slow i guess.

3 people have got the pet in my guild but no mounts yet.

I currently have 49 pets. If I get the sinister squashling I would finally hit the 50 pet achievement. Last night I finally saw it drop, but lost the roll to a paladin, whom then completed the 1 pet achievement.....
The paladin also won the sword and the helm. I think this guy must have been personal friends with the RNG or something.

I've seen the pet drop twice (lost roll both times), and the mask drop twice (lost both rolls). Never saw the reins, though my guildmate got it when I was offline.
Saw the frigging ring every time though...

I feel his pain - only 1 little pet away from "the hallowed"

We have been summoning in our guild for the mount and pet every day since the first and have yet to see it. The screen grab is very much what ours looks like at the end of the day. I think we killed him 87 times yesterday and didnt get a single mount to drop or a pet. And out of the 32 attempts I have made for the mount, I say it once the first time I did it and lost the roll on it.
Blizz I understand not wanting to get the game flooded with this mount, ut at the rate I've seen the drop its just as low as the Alar mount in TK. Your taking the fun out of it. The same thing happened to me in the brewfest boss. I did it every day and never say a single mount drop in any group I was in.

Yeah if I have to see one more of those stupid rings drop I'm going to break my keyboard! ;)

you mention getting the pet and mount for the proto-drake, but thats all the holiday events done, and if im thinking correctly, that'll take 3 full years for anyone, (at least 1 more year for people who have been around long enough) because you gotta have all 3 pets from childrens day...so if you dont get it this year all your missin is the hallowed title, anyway, GL to you all
Netheros Oct 21st 2008 11:01AM
That is no longer required for the Orphan Week meta achievement. Just as with the "Mask for All Occassions" achievement, it is still in the game but no longer required to get the particular holiday title. The Protodrake can be attained in one year provided you took the time to get into the brew of the month club and start to focus on the holidays. Good luck to everyone trying for Sinister Calling, our group has seen the Squashling drop 4 times in about 30 kills. Now I just need a damn toothpick!

@Netheros
Except the Brew of the Month Club isn't retroactive to achievements. I got in the club and drank the Binary and Autumn brews and they're not listed as completed in my achievements pane.
Have to wait until next October before starting this one.
Amaxe Oct 21st 2008 1:15PM
Theoretically, you only need to renew and drink brews until you get the ones you missed (assuming it does not reset the achievements).
Still, poor show on Blizzard's part
Netheros Oct 21st 2008 2:08PM
@Mephator
I too missed the Binary Brew but as for Autumn brew, you can go buy more at the vendor where you turned in the quest to become a member of the club (in the Inn in IF if you're alliance, not sure where you turn in the quest to get registered Horde-side) and you have until the end of October to pick up some more and drink one. For the Binary Brew you will have to wait until next September, but that's not that big a deal because there are a number of other Brewfest achievements that weren't retroactive or possible this year, like dancing drunk in Dalaran in all the Brewfest garb. The earliest you can have the Protodrake is Brewfest 2009.

Yea, it's pretty boring just doing the HH over and over again. I managed to get the Helm. And a guildmate got the Helm and Horse on the same roll. I mean we're to the point where we don't take a healer.
I liked the idea of double summons on him, but it sucked when we found out that was only for the initial quest completion.
Sagretti Oct 21st 2008 10:36AM
I was extremely lucky on the one mount drop (which also happened to be in a group where two people "forgot" to mention they didn't have a summon). In the 13 times I've run it, I've also seen the squashing drop twice, so the rate does seem to be better.
Still not luck on the rolls for it, though...
