It really depends on what you are healing. 5-mans/Kara I have not used shields because the tanks just dont take enough damage outside of shield to get rage. I have tank healed Gruuls/Mags and when doing that, no problems at all, the bosses smash through the shields with plenty of time to get a few good hits on the tank, so they can acutally get Rage.

As fun as doing 0 healing during trash is... the tanks still say no.
