Squashling, Hallowed Helm trick-or-treatable
I've taken him down a couple dozen times at this point. I've seen the hat twice (didn't get it either time), I've never seen the pet drop, and I don't think anyone on my server has gotten the mount. Some people in the forums are a bit upset about the drop rates on the pet and the hat, given that they're required for the achievement - they don't like the fact that the meta-achievement requires a chance-based event.
I have some good news for those people, via Wow_Ladies: it seems that the Sinister Squashling and the Hallowed Helm both have a chance to come out of the Treat Bags that you can get from trick-or-treating once an hour. This doesn't make it less chance-based, but it does raise your chances, although I imagine the chance to get either of those items from trick-or-treating is very low. Still, if you're interested in getting these items, stay on top of those one-hour cooldowns.
[thanks, Flairy]

I've seen the mount drop twice (lost roll both times) and have seen half a dozen-dozen people with the mount in shat. Personally I'd prefer to see the toothpick droprates increased as that is the only achievement I need left for the title.

I can't believe the sense of entitlement people have. I've seen the hat drop twice and the pet drop once. Didn't win the pet when it dropped and if I don't win the pet by the end of the festival then so what I wasn't lucky enough to complete an achievement that not everybody will receive this year.

Just logged in, trick or treated and got the helm haha =D

Oh if they were only NOT soulbound I could give you the 60 or so I've looted. Still no masks for me. Last year I had masks out of my ... umm... ears :)

Bah! I have two active characters, one who has gotten toothpicks three times, and another who can't find any to save her life! The drop chances are obviously much better, but very sporadic! I could use a few less penny pouches too.

I've yet to see the mount or the pet drop, but I've gotten probably 50 toothpicks already.

I had big problems with toothpicks aswell.
Personally I belive that it's more fun if it's hard to get and think that adding the pet and hat to the trick or treats were overkill. I got the mount, the pet and the hat from the boss. Now I got three more pets and two hats through trick and treat on my other characters...that takes away a bit of my sense of "achievement" tbh.

Well I've got 2 (!) hats on my Lvl 26 Char - I could cry, really!
1 from trick or treating, the other one from the "smash the pumpkin" daily quest (in that present from my little fangirl)
My girlfriend got one hat too from trick or treating so I guess there's a lot of good Mojo in this room today! :-O

Having slain teh hrosemenjust under 40 times now i've seen the Squashling and the Helm go to several other folks. As of yesterday, everyone that I've been doing the runs with that has already acquired a helm or pet has since gotten another from trick or treating.... I'm yet to get either ofcourse. :(

I am not sure if they increased or not, but today was the second time I have ever fought HH, and THe Sinister Squashling dropped not once, not twice, but three times in the same group. (We all had full summons, and me and another player had 2). Not only that, but a single helm dropped as well. I was grouped with two close friends irl, one of their friends, and some random hunter. The hunter wanted it, of course, but so did the rest of us. The first time it dropped he asked if he could need roll on it, so we all did. One of my friends won it, and he emo alt f4'ed. The jokes on him though, because the other two squashlings dropped, in succesion after he left, then the helm. Me and my two friends ended up wining the roll, and I won the helm. I don't know if they changed the rate, or if it was just freakishly good luck, but heres hoping they actually changed it! :D

I got my helm and pet on the first and second days, respectively. Luck, I suppose. That being so, I can feel for the people who have had issues getting theirs. However, I don't think this is the appropriate way to compensate. They could increase the drop rate to encourage people to keep trying, but just handing it out (Which, after this hotfix, I received on two characters on my first ToT, a level 53 and a level 1 bank), trivializes the nature of a rare drop. What's next, we get Rivendare's mount as a quest reward because the drop rate is too low? It was working as intended. It had a low drop rate, but it wasn't impossible to get. It's only the fifth day of fourteen, people had plenty of time to keep trying at it.

now all they need to do is implement a quest where you can turn in the three rings, the two helms, his sword, and maybe 100 treats so you could get the mount, I'd be happy.
I'm sick of rings, so f***ing sick of seeing them.
Tural Oct 22nd 2008 3:15PM
Heh, indeed. I'd be able to do it right now and finally get my mount. 45 runs without seeing one. My last 10 have been nothing but rings and brooms, so tired of leaving them to rot on corpses.

youre missing the point. this is a holiday achievement, not a feat of strength. everyone should be able to get it relatively easy.
Tural Oct 22nd 2008 3:25PM
They're awarding it to people without even having to do the kill though. They're trivializing the purpose of it being a drop. Like I said, they could have increased the drop rate on it to compensate, but handing it out to any character has no purpose. The people who are upset about not getting it are not, for the majority, at least, people who want that achievement, they're people who want the title meta-achievement. The people going for the title would have their shot if the drop rate was improved. Upping the drop would be a better solution than just handing it out.

No one is getting the title without killing the horseman. I for one, am glad that my level 62 druid has a chance to get the pet. Screw the title!

The Blizz rep for world events in the official forums confirmed it was a "CHANGE". I'm guessing they just recently hot-fixed it into the game, to combat the HORRIBLE drop rate on those two items from the Headless Horseman.
Ryan11 Oct 22nd 2008 3:18PM
Implemented last night. Rolling restarts on all realms at midnight.
Abcaca Oct 23rd 2008 2:53AM
Yeah either they changed it or its my lucky day because i got both the sinister squashling and the hallowed helm today from trick or treating maybe tried 5 times today :) Good luck y'all

There ya go.
