Bornakk
posted some excerpts from what appear to be an old diary in the dead town of Andorhal. The diary details the struggles of one Eric Farrington, who explains the horrors of seeing loved ones transformed into gruesome tools of the Scourge only to be eventually transformed himself... and hunger for brains. Bornakk also appended a short Q&A that should answer some of the questions players might have about the new Scourge invasion. Of course, most of those same questions have already been covered by
Mike in his live... er,
undeadblog.
Bornakk didn't mention that zombies also have their own language, and when players speak while transformed, their speech will be unintelligible to normal players. While the Q&A addresses how to avoid getting infected and finding a cure, players who might want to experience becoming part of the Scourge are encouraged to
read up on the unique zombie abilities...

It's fresh, it's great fun. However, as has been hinted by GM, this disease will become more powerful (already mentioned it's harder to remove disease etc) and likely the debuff timer will shorten so faster transformations. Once things get really messy a lot more people will begin to play the 'good guy' I think. Become more co-ordinated on both sides.
Then, it will become as intended, which is the prelude to the big event of WoLK and Blizzard has done a great job in thinking through how it all works from what I have see so far.

Hearing people get upset about paladins or whoever cleansing makes me /sigh. You can become a zombie if you want, but I have every right to prevent the zombies from overrunning my cities.
Griefing? HA! Go QQ to blizzard or report me if you want, but this is how the event is supposed to work. Why don't you try to have some fun instead of complaining?
I hear rumors that the infection will become more powerful as time goes on, anyway. You'll probably be wishing it was over soon.
P.S. has anyone seen someone try to infect a raid yet? That would be funny to watch.
Infected: "Summon please"
Raid member: *summons* "...wth why are you a zombie"
Infected: "NOM NOM NOM NOM"
Raid members: "OMG WTF"
Arcaria Oct 23rd 2008 6:39AM
I doubt it would be funny because there would probably be some asshole paladin there who would prevent that from ever happening.
D.O.T. Oct 23rd 2008 9:47AM
Lol, funny that you call the paladin an asshole, but not the jerkface player who was trying to infect the raid.

As a soldier of the Light, enemy of undeads and savior of your souls, it is my sacred duty to cleanse you of this foul abomination. If you choose to align yourself with evil, you shall suffer my righteous wrath! The Gods have granted me the strength to vanquish hordes of your ilk with little to no effort!
[Note: I have every right to RP a paladin who vanquishes zombies as you do being a zombie.]

Damn folks, let's not slip up and fall victim to the spirit of the game or anything. Just remember to make sure and always be as butt-hurt as you possibly can about anything that happens. God forbid that you are forced to open your mind a little bit. Or in the case of the zombies, someone else's mind.
The people that are asking for their money back are ridiculous. They are the same kind of people who go out to eat and send their food back at least twice because it wasn't to their supreme exact specifications.
The one's saying that Blizzard devs should be spending every waking moment to fix the few realm stutters we are having are people who obviously have no concept of what goes into making a video game. Apparently, they have never played any other game than WoW. Just thinking about what goes into updating a game that is played on such a massive scale as WoW is truly mind-blowing. A game that is played live by enough people to found a new country is going to have a few rough edges to be smoothed out. There are people who have the specific job of working out these edges. The other devs have their jobs as well. Some of those jobs are centered around making the game fun. What some people don't understand is the concept of an evolving environment. One that is attempting to transition between expansions in a fun and interactive way rather than X ends here and Y begins immediately thereafter.
To those people that are threatening to leave WoW for Warhammer: I play Warhammer and it is a blast. It's new, and shiny, and fun. There are two things that it is not. It is not World of Warcraft and it is not without server problems of its own. If you are going to quit WoW for War then go. It will be a completely new environment for you to bitch in.

Time to read Max Brook's Zombie Survival Guide methinks.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Zombie_Survival_Guide
Top 10 Lessons for Surviving a Zombie Attack
1. Organize before they rise!
2. They feel no fear, why should you?
3. Use your head: cut off theirs.
4. Blades don’t need reloading.
5. Ideal protection = tight clothes, short hair.
6. Get up the staircase, then destroy it.
7. Get out of the car, get onto the bike.
8. Keep moving, keep low, keep quiet, keep alert!
9. No place is safe, only safer.
10. The zombie may be gone, but the threat lives on.
So 7 might not apply to WoW, but ..

For those that complain:
You will complain about anything... so really think before posting. We know who you are and will kill you in game anyway.
For the poor pallys and priests - you are appreciated. I know I see myself as the Fire Mage Avenger! I have been running to low level areas and saving players from the Scourge! Having to port to get cleansed is exhausting.
For you who want to be Zombies - just remember not everyone wants to be one. Just because you do and don't want to be cleansed... you may want to hide for a while and then come out... then you won't lose your infection.
This is a GAME people... enjoy it as such. This is not work, we don't get paid to play. This is fun to role play both ways - do what is fun. But remember most of all - if you are in Shatt and a zombie...
I will shoot you down! Mwah Ha Ha Ha....

please take the zoombies out of the game

What is truly interesting about all this is how, suddenly, we are introduced to true no-holds barred pvp. This is it! Not character vs character, toon vs toon, but no-quarter merciless destruction of one player's enjoyment of the game by another!
Forget the namby-pamby everyday toon-bashing that passes for pvp in the battlegrounds and arenas, the zombie war brings it home and makes it personal. When someone wanders into the champion's hall, ice-blocks and drops his zombie bomb he's out to get YOU not your toon; to deprive you of access to the BG battlemaster of choice; to cost you game-gold when your afk coffee-making turned you into guard-baiting quiescent zombie while you were gone. Or nailed you while your auction scanner set itself to work; or set to just as your gold spamming reached its peak.
Or maybe it's just a temporary blip in the parameters of the game; a fun free-for-all to just go pull everything down for 5 minutes.
Either way, I love it and the extreme reactions it seems to generate. Bring it on, bring it on - a week of mayhem before we settle back down to the grinding and drudgery of understanding our characters, levelling and (/sigh) progression is more than welcome.

Wanted to clarify -
I am specifically addressing those who complain about the developers and what they are doing. That is something you pay for, you don't like it, don't play.
As far as the low levels getting ganked by zombies - you zombies know who you are and you are beneath contempt. There are people starting the game or actually trying to level and you attack them. Or as one kid told be yesterday "we can't kill quest givers"... um, yeah. You can and do. And if what you think you are doing is fun - try going to somewhere your own level instead of the starting areas. When I have to protect a level 5 player from a 70 zombie, there is something very wrong.

when you do corpse explosian, you have to yell "alah akbar!"
Erawhtiek Oct 27th 2008 1:06PM
Those zombie players who cry and shout "dont cure me" and then resort to name calling when priests and pallys do so are bascially either children/teens who have to have it their way or no way, or very selfish and immature adults. They are like bullies on a power trip that enjoy beating up on people until one day they get their asses kicked royally and then run home to mommy and cry that they were wrongfully abused unjustly. If this applies to you, know this.. You WILL be cured by me, and your zombie buddies will continue to fall. You will also be shitlisted. One day you will come around begging for gold, or asking for help with a quest, and you will get a /slap. To those zombies who are intentionally camping low level zones, same goes for you. To the other zombies who are simply enjoying the experience without resorting to name calling and flaming ( as im sure blizzard intended this event to be ), you have done nothing wrong. Also, to you posters ( obviously griefers as well ) who retort along the lines of "Get over it , its just a game", remember this: Blizzard set up wow with three basic types of servers we could choose from depending on our playing style. I, along with many others, chose to play on a normal server because I do not wish to participate in PVP unless it is on my own terms. If i wanted it otherwise I would have rolled toons on a PVP server. Although this is a temporary event, blizzard has forced PVP on all players , so yes, those of us that love PVE and dislike PVP have every right to be frustrated with this zombie mini-game. After dying for the 10th time by several 70 zombies in crossroad, TB, UC, and Org I have embraced the fact that if I want to play the way I want to ( which is to lvl alts ) I must wait until Blizzard does away with the zombies or play along and join in on the festivities. So, beware you zombie scum. You all are going down :D
