The plague grows...

It seems like Mike was right -- things are indeed taking a turn for the worse. Some readers have also pointed out that although chillingly similar, the source of the infestation might not be the Lich King, after all. As players may well know, the Forsaken's Royal Apothecary Society have been working on a new plague on their own, too. Who is truly behind this dastardly plot? Only time will tell. It's certainly something for all of us to chew on. In the meantime, might we encourage you to try out some other things you can chew on... like braaaaaiiiins, perhaps?

Sigh. The Forsaken?
Really?
No.
Yes, I've seen the video (first hand, at that). Just...no.

The forsaken wouldn't plague their own town, the UC.

The crates, and something none of you had mentioned as yet, flying citadels called "necropolises" are appearing all over WoW's major cities. These, along with infected creatures, and the increasingly numerous zombies, are to my thinking certainly part of The Lich King rollout. All of this was confirmed by a trip to Light's Hope Chapel in The Eastern Plaguelands. When you view The Eastern Plaguelands on your continent map with your cursor on it, it reads as "Under Attack". If you are curious about what's going on, go and see for yourself.
The zombies can be fun, however, as I found out this evening while trying to do things that one would consider normal routine chores while playing while I was in Thunder Bluff, they became impossible due to the level of infestation. This may turn from fun, to a problem that cannot be ignored.
Prepare yourselves.

Yeah, I noticed the bugs too when walking around Booty Bay. So, the plague is spreading, just like W3. Awesome event, and I'm 100% sure it's the lich king, trying to recruit as many people before the xpack hits.

While it might not be Arthas personally doing it, it may still be surviving members of the Cult of the Damned that were left on the Kingdoms continent.
The last thing the Royal Apothecary wants is more scourge. They believe only the Forsaken should leave. Their plague was developed to kill both the living the scourge alike, not turn them into more Scourge. So I highly down this is their doing.
I'd also like to update with Stratholme rats and roaches from the trapped supply boxes are also spreading the plague as well.

Could be some sick experiment by the
Royal Apothecary Society. Has anyone
seen an Argent Healer that was not Forsaken and why aren't they tagged as affiliated with Argent Dawn or Argent Crusade? /tinfoilhat
Kathuzad Oct 23rd 2008 9:04PM
I think that's just so you can't declare war against them and kill all the healers. Weird how they're just Forsaken though, think Blizz just got lazy.
Jp Oct 23rd 2008 9:11PM
Plenty of human Argent Healers in Stormwind. And Darnassus. And Aldor Rise. And... well... all over the place.
ryguy Oct 23rd 2008 9:15PM
I see well that'll teach me to be a conspiracy nut. /tinfoilhat off

Could be forsaken because they are then technically immune to the plague. One with think the undead players would be too...plot hole! (Though I can understand it would exclude them..gameplay has to take precedence sometimes)

I love this event, but I'm wondering...
During the third war, the plauge was spread from Andorhal. But of course anyone who's been to WLP knows that it's in ruins. So where are all these grain crates of evil comming from?
Piper Oct 23rd 2008 10:05PM
My first inclination is to automatically say 'Westfall' considering it's one of (if not THE) only established grain-producing areas of the world. Either that or the goblin hothouse grain conglomerate totally just got wasted.

Northrend, delivered to Booty Bay, of course.
zurkka Oct 23rd 2008 11:43PM

well, with the cockroaches now, we see the stage where a disease mutates from its original form to find a carrier host to deliver it to its intended subject...namely, you!
draeth Oct 23rd 2008 8:59PM
Ah, and the plot thickens, I can't wait to get out of work and get infected lol.
Graargh Oct 23rd 2008 9:07PM
Must... eat.... brains....
webrunner Oct 23rd 2008 9:10PM
If it was the Forsaken, it wouldnt make you Friendly to the Scourge.

Yeah, what a great idea. Add more untested code to servers that constantly crash, lag spike, etc.
How about some coverage of the other side of this - there are lots of complaints, especially from PVE servers.
