Voidwalker tanks Illidan, almost

Through liberal use of Demonic Empowerment (and its associated threat bug) and their awesome healers, Mister Voidwalker successfully tanked the Priestess mob in the Illidari Council encounter and most of Illidan himself. An incident with Parasites caused a little chaos, which ultimately spelled the voidwalker's demise. Illidan hits juuust a little too hard to live through a few of the healers scrambling away from parasites. Even if it had 23,000 HP.
It was also mentioned in the e-mail to us here at WoW Insider that they used the Voidwalker to tank the first three bosses in Mount Hyjal as well. I think even a baby kitten could tank the first three bosses of Mount Hyjal nowadays, but using a Voidy for it is still pretty dang cool. I hope to see more off the wall stuff like this before Wrath launches, so if you have it, please send it in to us!

We had a VW tanking Najentus, Supremus, Teron and RoS p3 tonight. After this our tanks started whining that they were bored and Mezzmon had to be sent back to the twisting nether but his threat generation was pretty awesome, with spikes of 15k tps or more.

I fail to see how 1 minute of phase 1 can be considered MOST of the Illidan fight...

Heh, have you done the Illidan fight? That actually is a majority of the encounter, unfortunately.

Yes I have done the encounter many times.
Phase 1 lasts a lot longer than the 40ish seconds the voidwalker stayed alive. Besides it is hardly challenging especially now that he doesn't even shear...
Phase 2 and beyond are a lot more challenging.
You can't call this tanking MOST of the fight, unless you have not killed Illidan yourself...

Yes. The fight is a joke. Phase 1 is identical to phase 3/4 except with less demons and Maiev. Phase 2 is the only thing that's different.

Phase 3 is ranged tanking... A voidwalker is a melee tank.

PS I am not commenting regarding the newsworthiness of this video.
Of this you are the judge since it is your website...
But ANY guild can now start the Illidan fight with a pet tank that has a decent hp pool, and take over with a real tank once the pet dies (as shown in the video).
This does not require skill.

Had the parasites not gotten messed up he would have tanked the entire fight. The recorder had a crit error during council but good old Hathgron tanked all of council, first 3 bosses in Hyjal, and had ranged not gotten healers RoF'd would have fully tanked the 4th. All healers moving means dead Voidwalker, shame it happened at 2% >.

He could not have tanked the entire fight, since phase 2 requires 2 tanks and precise positionning.
Phase 3 is like phase 1 so maybe you can have him tank again, but then phase 4 requires a ranged tank because of Illidan's shadow aura.
Not saying this is not impossible to do... But it's alot more difficult than 40 seconds in phase 1...
So why would you even include it in the video and make it the title of the news? Your voidwalker did not tank Illidan PERIOD.

That's right, no single tank can pretend to tank the whole fight. This is not bad logic. The bad logic is saying the opposite like you did.
Besides the single tanking issue, and as I said before, 40 seconds in phase 1 is not coming remotely close to tanking the whole fight.
Phase 3 and 5 are more challenging.
Phase 5 requires precise positioning of Illidan into Maeiv's traps.
Since you cannot control the voidwalker directly like a hunter pet, it could be tricky to perform.
I rest my case. Please stop your attempts at personal attacks. I did not say anything against you, I just argumented against your article.
This does not qualify as Illidan tanking, it's a failed attempt at it.

You'll note that of course the Voidwalker can't tank Illidan for the entire fight. And you'll further note that it is funny that suddenly Voidwalkers can tank Illidan at all, when they are the pet of a dps class. Bad assumptions that Alex and the commentators were being serious are bad. Kkthxbai.

First of all I'm pretty sure she means where you have your non-FR and non-SR tanks. So much hatred towards something that obviously the admins of the site thought was pretty nifty. If you don't like it just don't read it today. No reason to throw all your bitterness into it. If you'ld like I'm sure we can get you a video of him tanking 1/3/5? Would that work for you?

I don't think I have shown hatred in my posts.
It seems that most of the people posting to support the author are from the guild that made the video. This explains that.
Because I criticize your (non) accomplishment does not mean I am bitter or mad at you guys. If you are capable of making such a video of your voidwalker tanking 1/3/5 then please do so.
It will be more worthy to watch than your failed attempt posted in this article.
