Through liberal use of Demonic Empowerment (and its associated threat bug) and their awesome healers, Mister Voidwalker successfully tanked the Priestess mob in the Illidari Council encounter and most of Illidan himself. An incident with Parasites caused a little chaos, which ultimately spelled the voidwalker's demise. Illidan hits juuust a little too hard to live through a few of the healers scrambling away from parasites. Even if it had 23,000 HP.
It was also mentioned in the e-mail to us here at WoW Insider that they used the Voidwalker to tank the first three bosses in Mount Hyjal as well. I think even a baby kitten could tank the first three bosses of Mount Hyjal nowadays, but using a Voidy for it is still pretty dang cool. I hope to see more off the wall stuff like this before Wrath launches, so if you have it, please send it in to us!

His Voidy was week. And he missed to keep full time talented Health Funnel. He prolly missed stamina gear, for fight like this is advising lock to get over 20K HP and use armor elixirs/pots and armor enchants in places where stamina is unavailable.
Mine is 30k without Demonic Empowerment and with all talents and armor have 84.25% Physical Damage mitigation without inspiration, ~86% with inspiration and 36K HP each munite for 20 secs. Aggro generation with manually placed 4 torments and 1 suffering during empowerment is 5K TPS.
Tanked Brutallus with 8 healers on it (No slashes at all to raid when use pet, only 2 players dies from burn on 3 mins fight). 2 Palas used flash chains instead Holy Light chains.
Crits hurted - aka 13K after the mitigation during the stomp, but the healers managed.
GL any player tank to reach this stats.

So yeah...I was standing there like a nub stareing at Omen and the VW's health. The VW would have had NO issue tanking phases 1,3, and 5 had I not been a complete nub. Also, having him tank was on a complete whim. The VW now has 29k HP with Demonic Enpowerment. PLENTY to tank Illy and beyond.

Just a reminder to the original article. MH bosses arent among those that got nerfed. Not that the first 3 bosses are anything hard but they have the same health & damage as they used to. And the 4th, Azgalor still hits for 8K+ on plate & packs 4.2M hp

the addon is grid, and he is probably using another addon called clique which enables you to keybind all your healing spells to whatever key you want and then just clicking on the grid unitframes

tankless healer? whaaaa.....? what does that mean?
do you mean a healer with no tank? or a tank with no healer? or just kara with no tank? the third is possible, hell hunters have tanked kara right now. but believe me, you can't heal a voidwalker fast enough by yourself for it not to need a healer. believe me, i got assigned to tank olm last night and the healer assigned to me ignored my pet completely, so even tho i held aggro til i died, my pet died fast and then so did I. also i think it was a bug but enslave failed in that fight. it said it couldn't be charmed. odd....

actually as a very active member of the warlock info site warlocks den, www.wowmb.com i can tell you that there is proof of a lock who has successfully tanked illidan with voidwalker through all the phases. the fact is that a 13k hit point void is pathetic. its possible thru talents and gear to get him up to over 25k hitpoints, i've seen screens its possible. also said void was able to mitigate 84% of damage taken from armor alone + 20% with demo empowerment, so for 20seconds out of every minute it mitigates almost all damage. lets also look at threat. it generates threat through an ability that is magical on a 3 second cooldown. it generates empowered 45k threat every use, so 5 uses= slightly less than 250k threat. you can't pull off of it.

after looking over comments again. its bad that a void can only tank through a bug, but a hunter pet can tank heroics and raids as intended? so warlock pets are for dps and hunter pets are for anything they want? riiiiiighht........

Via ad Odium used a VW to tank Illidan last week on Terenas. I'm uncertain about the details however.

NOTHING in MH is nerfed. No hp nerf, no melee damage nerf. Just FYI.

I still love the fact that we didn't even need kain (warlock tank) for the nonexistent demon phase.

i did the same thing but my void tanked everyboss in bt including Illidan will have a video in a few days did this last week too
