Server restarts for Friday October 24th
While the connectivity and general lag seems to have gotten better in the last day or so, there are still some lingering issues here and there. All servers will be undergoing rolling restarts on the morning of the 24th from 5:00 a.m. PDT to 6:00 a.m. PDT. Each realm is expected to be down only 15 minutes.Ideally this will solve all the issues we've had since patch 3.0.2 hit last week, but more likely we'll just see things be better for a short time.
If this temporary down time turns into anything extended, we'll update this post.
Of course, this restart might have something to do with Zombies hungry for brains.

At least recently the servers seem to have improved, but they were tremendously painful to play on throughout the last week, especially after 20 minutes of forming your instance group; getting a tank and healer, heading to the stone, summoning others and then to just get.. instance not found >

Hmm... remember that post from yesterday where a Blue posted an snippit of a diary of a poor farmer in Andorhol.
Started wednsday, like the event, the plague has been shown to be spreading outwards rather quickly, so this rolling restart may be to kick people off the servers long enough for the "Final Step" in whoever's plan this is. As tomorrow is Friday, and the last part of that snippit was on a friday, and stated the scourge were growing in power...
Coincidence, I think not!

I didn't think of that... but now that I think about it that seems like a pretty safe bet! Nice man haha.

brilliant observation. tomorrow is going to bring an amazing conclusion to the world event!
the whole reason of rolling restarts is to drop in a hotfix with epic changes. might have to bring the laptop to work tomorrow!

i hope this fixes the lagg in arenas. on battleground stormstrike the lagg has been reaaaaaaally bad since the patch launced. oh yeah its also not fun losing 15 points becuase of "instance not found"
Lemons Oct 24th 2008 1:27AM
amen...
mora Oct 24th 2008 7:59AM
you mean DKP points? why would you lose them because of that? not your fault?
/mora=noob at raiding etc

also, another reason for Blizz to have the final step on a Friday, is for most people to enjoy it. Most people are off on friday nights, so id be willing to bet this has something to do with our Zombie buddies. Oh, and dont forget, you can not only talk to members of the opposite faction while you are both zombies, but also you can open trade! found this out last night!

Here's some lingering issues for you: I joined a Warsong that had been going on for 4 hours!
Turns out the game was bugged, the alli flag had never reset which would've been a good thing except that this made the horde flag give the 10 min debuff as soon as you picked it up meaning you could never get it out of their flag room.
Yeah I'm tired of crap like that, I hope blizz fixes these random annoying problems so I can actually enjoy the hour or so I get to play each day.

I honestly don't care about bg and arena lag. so sue me.
What I am hoping for is that they extend the zombie event. The spread of boxes to major cities is not enough for me! must have... moooooreee.
... ... .... ..... brains.............. BRAIN BRAAAIINIS BRAINS BRAINS BRAINY BRAIN BRAINNNS........

i think the timer to turn in to a zombie should be LOWER and that guards are ruining this event. WTF guards just spawn from no where
Axolotl Oct 24th 2008 2:39AM
It might not be comming to conclusion yet, just the next step in the process.
Remember (if you played WC3)

Now I realise why the patch is called "Echoes of Doom"...
FAWR Oct 24th 2008 3:21AM
MS releases a top priority patch today (and one that requires a reboot), and the servers go down...
I wouldn't expect any gameplay improvements this time chaps.
Hangk Oct 24th 2008 3:47AM
Given that the WoW servers run Linux, I'm pretty sure that isn't the reason.
Lethain Oct 24th 2008 4:39AM
Do you know where I can find more information about the servers WoW runs on? Could be interesting to know more.
Eero Oct 24th 2008 7:31AM
They might also remove the 20 masks -achievement from the hallow's end series required to get the title... Hope they do, I want my title! :)
Bluster Oct 24th 2008 5:41AM
hmm i actually think that blizzard just wants to let us think that they are trying to fix the problems on some servers, which they arent at all.
they even removed my post at the forums, a post about how come they start a world event rather than fix Turalyon where i am playing.
jebuspwns Oct 24th 2008 7:16AM
wow your ignorant. Do you think they just bust out some new code the day before a world event? This scourge invasion has been prepped for months so it has absolutely nothing to do with them fixing servers. Also I'm pretty sure the event designers aren't the ones personally fixing the servers. In fact I'm almost positive that's a technician's job.

It maybe becuase of the zombies in Shat. A whole mob of them (players turn zombie) where in the city and but you could not target them. The could spead the plauge but no attacking other players only NPC.
