I have to be honest the free day or free time is not really a big deal and easily forgotten. What they should do is to come up with some customer support reward items. A trinket or relic, something people will see in the bag or bank to remind them of how Blizzard appreciates the patronage and wants to make amends for the problematic gameplay. Simple suggestion with significant logistic involved - but who cares about a free day or even month really - you can't even go out to a decent dinner with a free month refund - maybe McDonalds. But I would remember a cool vanity pet, trinket or cool consumable that turns me into a Troll or something.
