Arcanite Ripper ushers in World of Warcraft: Guitar Hero
You'll want to watch the video above. It's of the Arcanite Ripper, a new drop from the boss Tenris Mirkblood in Karazhan. Tenris has appeared as part of the world event leading up to the release of Wrath of the Lich King. The Arcanite Ripper is a throw back to the old Arcanite Reaper. Except this one has a cool new ability.
Right click on the Ripper, and you'll become a rocking out skeleton. You're a one man LVL70 Eelite Tauren Chieftain. With this little axe, World of Warcraft now becomes Guitar Hero.
The video above is a quick fraps I put together with my long time WoW friend Telanis. He's hanging out in Ironforge, getting his rock on.
And you better believe it baby, he's rockin' your socks off.

I guess you have to equip it, meaning a good deal of us won't be able to Rock Out :

Yeah, that's a good point. It's a bit of a shame. I'm glad all my chars can equip it thought ;).

If you /cheer someone while ripping do you get the same buff that you get when cheering L70ETC?
Calaglin Oct 25th 2008 5:31PM
I cheered at the guy but didn't get a buff :)

Is this boss tied to the usual Karazahn dungeon reset?
Core Oct 25th 2008 5:45PM
I'm sure i can hear Metallica - Master of Puppets in there. Might just be me though :).

I got Arcanite Ripper on my paladin, its awesome. Easily the best axe in Kara, plus it has the on-use (which it does not say on the item, its a semi-easter-egg).
As far as Tenris goes, you'll want to clear the whole ring of trash (you fight him above the stables, beware of falling down and aggroing all the trash) as he spawns red glowing orbs which explode for about 6k damage, a shit-ton of them. They're targetable, classified as undead, so paladins can clear them with Holy Wrath but its best to just kite him around the circle.
He has an ability called Blood Mirror, which will connect him to a random target with a red beam, he'll transform to look like the target, and only the target can safely hit him, as all other damage will be split between the boss and the targeted raid member. So be sure to stop DPS when he casts it. its very visible. Keep moving and stop DPS while he's mirrored, and its a long fight, but fairly easy.

Deadly .Off. Topic. Nov 6th 2008 2:00PM

So with this and Horseman's Helm...lot of special holiday love for warriors et al...
I mean the rest of the stuff is cool too...but I see a shortage of extra cool stuff like this exclusive to mail/leather/cloth wearers...
fordofmortis Oct 25th 2008 11:31PM
So is this the beginnings of the Bard class?
Faith Oct 26th 2008 1:57AM
does the axe drop for everyone or just one per kara reset? i mean, 1 axe per kara reset is kinda lame
Huntzy Oct 26th 2008 8:56AM
Sorry I'm a noob but why does he have a last name
Merkal Oct 26th 2008 12:17PM
Its a title which comes from an achievement in Upper Blackrock Spire.
Chris Oct 26th 2008 9:59PM
In my opinion this is very lame. Something this unique, special and extremly cool which you'll only get around 2 small chances to get in 10 days only ever if I've understood this correctly; can only be used by two-hand axe wielders? I'm a shaman so that's not the reason im saying this but I mean really..?
Discuss, please :)
