By now you must know that it is inevitable. The
zombies are here and they are growing in number. In time, you too shall become one of the Scourge, and Azeroth shall feel the icy tendrils of the
Lich King's will. There are quite
a number of ways to serve the Lich King, but by far the most insidious and shows the most loyalty is the self-sacrifice of a minion to
Zombie Explosion!. If you are but to do one thing for the Lord Arthas, it is this. Explode and infect the world around you.
It's important to know that
You're Infected!, the disease that turns unwitting players into subservient members of the Scourge, now has a
2 1 minute duration. This is a mere
fifth tenth of the original duration and gives players very little time to rid themselves of the infection. The radius of Zombie Explosion! has also been increased greatly, allowing you, for example, to explode inside Orgrimmar's Auction House and infecting everyone inside it. Use this spell in Auction Houses, Banks, and in front of heavily crowded Mailboxes for optimum effect.
The best way to wreak as much havoc is to quietly get infected (you can kill a
Plagued Roach or click on a
Conspicuous Crate), and situate yourself in a densely populated area. Some players will try to rid you of the disease, so be wary of Priests, Paladins, and Shamans. The moment you turn, start casting Zombie Explosion!. Don't bother with anything else. It is a four second cast spell, with pushback extending that to five, so you must try to get it off as quickly as possible. There is nothing subtle about this ability... it is simple, it is devious, and best of all, you explode in a symphony of rotting body parts and noxious green gas. All hail the Lich King!

You seem to explode if you die while casting as well

I wish one of the voice emotes was "Faahh the Scuurrrgge!" or "For the Lich Kiiing..."

I enjoy the zomby event alot. I think its awesome and heaps of fun.
But I also agree that it is griefing.
People keep arguing that "oh itll be over once wrath hits". What most people don't realise is that alot of players are trying to level characters to 70 before wrath hits to play then.
People affected have a real right to complain, of course blizzard won't change there mind. So maybe understand these people are just venting some rage and leave em be.
Fuck
SaintStryfe Oct 26th 2008 10:16AM
It's too fun for me to complain, IMHO.
People who are in the mid 60's should relax, and coast. As long as they're 68 by wrath's launch, they should have very little problem going to Northrend. And they should enjoy avoiding the lag. Really, there'll be two waves - the people now in Outland waiting, and the rush of Death Knights coming soon.

This is the stupidest thing Blizzard has ever done. These GOD DAM@#$ zombies are the last straw. I am on the brink of canceling my subscripton. Just leave people alone to play their game.
Stag Oct 26th 2008 9:16AM
The zombies are part of that game though...
Stag Oct 26th 2008 9:18AM
And for the record, I think this is the best thing Blizzard has ever done. I reactivated my account to see it unfold (wasn't going to until Wotlk hit).
Gothia Oct 26th 2008 9:20AM
I agree 100% this is the final straw for me. I know that there are childern playing this game and its all good as long as they don't mess with me. Normally on my NORMAL SERVER I could just ignore their stupidity and go about my business. NOT ANYMORE! This is forced stupidity that I will not tolerate. FU BUZZARD SUBSCRIPTION CANCELLED.
Mingus Oct 26th 2008 9:22AM
Is it really that bad? One time every two years Blizzard does something that affects the entire game? The detail that's being put into this event is outstanding. Well worth the temporary disruption that it's causing. Anyways, no one ever goes to Darnassus or Exodar or Thunder Bluff. So you can do everything you need to do in major cities there. And while I personally am not into destroying the world as a zombie, I know where the healers are to dispel me and if I can't find one fast enough I just suicide into some guards and get back quickly and easily. I can only assume you play on a PvE server because the things other players can do to disrupt your game are much worse than this event.
sosei Oct 26th 2008 9:38AM
Just leave people alone to play their game?
Just leave people alone to play who's game, pray tell? Not liking the event is one thing, but crying "I R QUITTING" won't 1) change anything, or 2) garner sympathy. If it gets to you that much, take a short break before playing again. Don't let shuffling data give you a stroke.
o_O
Dulock Oct 26th 2008 10:08AM
Waaaaah, I'm forced to play this game with other people. Its call an MMO for a reason you self righteous a-hole. Why don't you go play solitaire, that's probably more your speed.
Janaa Oct 26th 2008 10:45AM
I love this event. The zombies are just a bit of mindless fun. Much better than the first Scourge Invasion! :) NPC respawn times are very quick, and its not far to run back from the GY when you do die.
The two or three times I've been turned while going about my normal business, I have likewise gone brain-eating, infection-spewing, lowbie-lurching mad. It's so much fun! I don't set out to try and get infected and do this, but if it happens, I go along with it.
What depresses me however, is the number of people (as shown in this thread) who have sold their soul and lives SO MUCH to this game, that if they can't pre-plan every thing that's going to happen in their game, and everything does going peachy and according to plan (because, for instance, they got turned into a brain-munching zombie) that they start screaming that they demand refunds, are cancelling their account, that blizzard sucks, etc. Jesus! You've let A GAME take over your life. You cry when a game isn't going how you want it to? Bet you're no fun @ monopoly.
It's a once-in-a-game event. It's only lasting for a short time. People who are still levelling can do so fine, there are very few zombies outside capital cities (at least on my two servers). Folks srsly need to lighten up.
rosencratz Oct 26th 2008 10:47AM
Anyone who chooses to quit beacuse they dislike this temporary event. (Which is brilliant) will hardly be missed for they can only be the most bitter and self centred of players in the first place.
I rather like the fact that there is something new and different going on for a change, i like the fact that to hand in a quest i might need to cleanse the town fo zombies and get some holier people to come in and cure those infected. Surely this is what an MMO is all about?
If you guys upset by this event really wanted to just play a single player game then why did you buy an MMO? Use this as an oppurtunity to make friends, socialise, form parties, raid groups whatever. If you hate the zombies work out how to stop them, if you love them, then invade to your hearts content. Don't be so bitter that you'll just refrain from joining in the fun and just complain whenever it gets in your way.
Vegnagun bwf Oct 26th 2008 10:49AM
Kallysan, go ahead. Seriously, if you're going to de-activate your account because a zombie attacked you in a main city and you had to run back for a minute, then go ahead. You have no sense of humor, and you take the game way too seriously if you really want to stop playing because of a small event.
Robert Oct 26th 2008 11:58AM
I completely agree with you. Not only does it cancel your flasks but it's completely counter productive. I have never been as close to quitting this game. I hear there are a couple games coming out soon (and warhammer that already came out) that will be just as good if not better... fare thee well, blizzz. I treated you well, you turned me into a freaking zombie.
It wouldn't be so bad if you could choose to participate, but when you're trying to grab something from your bank, you get infected, get ported back to your 25 man, and infect your raid, it's BS
Theserene Oct 26th 2008 11:59AM
aww ,they put something fun in the game for what a week and you quit the game?
Didn't you ever get taught that it's not all about YOU
Darthnerdy Oct 26th 2008 12:36PM
Why is it whenever someone voices their oppinion about something that maybe construed to be negative they get downvoted? Let them fucking express their oppinions seriously its bullshit.
PS. I am well aware this will be downvoted by the nazis that are the wowinsider audience.
Max Oct 26th 2008 2:37PM
seriously. It's an MMO. it's a GAME. its about FUN. Just because you can't plan out exactly whats going to happen for every second of every hour you are playing doesn't mean it's the end of the world. It's not even a big disruption... healers are EVERYWHERE and there are 3 classes that can dispel it - zombies are hardly anywhere outside of org/ironforge. And heaven save us all if you have to ghost run for 1 minute...
It's an MMO, not an I-MO
I agree with the previous poster. If you hate this so much maybe a game like solitaire will be more to your liking.
jbodar Oct 26th 2008 4:40PM
@Gothia
Can I haz ur stuff?
*waits for head to explode*
Jericon Oct 26th 2008 10:00AM
I've been doing this by standing in the middle of all the battle masters in IF, then bubbling when I'm ready, turning me, and then blowing up and infecting them all.
Quite fun.
