Tenris Mirkblood will only be around for "approximately 10 days," says Tigole
So by now, you've probably heard of Tenris Mirkblood, the Blood Elven vampire boss in Karazhan who is surprisingly generous with his loot, dropping a Vampire Batling for everyone in the raid as well as a very sweet axe by both the musical and weaponry related terms -- Although only one of those, unfortunately.
Tigole answered a few questions about this boss in a recent post on the forums. Tenris will only be around for about 10 days, which is why he's so generous with the bat pets, and the axe is the only other item on his loot table, if you don't count the Badges of Justice.
So what this means, first of all, is that if you haven't managed to get a group to go beat him down, you'll want to do it soon or lose your chance at a pretty cool pet and a pretty cool -- if rather weak -- novelty trinket. In addition, if you weren't lucky enough to win the roll on the Arcanite Ripper on your first try, it looks like you'll only have one more chance at it. Sacrifices to the gods of dice and/or the Gods of Metal, whichever you subscribe to, are recommended.
One other thing that's interesting to note is that 10 days, even starting from today and not from the first day Tenris appeared, doesn't bring us even close to the launch date of Wrath of the Lich King. This could suggest that the Zombie Plague will end sooner than we think, giving us some breathing room between then and the launch. Of course, it could also mean that Tenris will simply exit Karazhan, perhaps finally vanquished for good, perhaps to lead forth the armies of the Lich King on an assault against nearby Stormwind, bolstered by whatever dark powers he is researching or trying to harness in Karazhan.
Or Tigole could have just been giving a very ballpark figure off the top of his head, and we'll see Tenris around for quite a few weeks. Either way, it should be a whole lot of fun, and we'll see how it pans out. Be sure to keep tuned to WoW Insider for all the latest news on what's going on in the World of Zombiecraft!

And yes, Van Canto really ARE Metal Gods ;)

You misspelled Slayer there.
The blood mirror mechanics of the fight seemed pretty cool to me, hope they are gonna make a return in a Wrath boss.

What trinket is attained by killing him? I thought all the rest of the flavor items were from turning in stones and such.

The Monster Slayer's Kit. Reccomended by 93% of vampire-killers. It should have come complete with a whip... for whipping.

Its quite sad that if he is only around for "10 days or so" that kara is STILL on a 7 day reset timer.
Oh and we found out last night that if you kill him, and forget to check his room, you cannot go back in later on and complete it. His door was locked about an hour after we killed him and forgot to check

Don't care... I want this whole zombie thing to go away.
Dusseldorf Oct 26th 2008 6:38PM
Baaaghaga I hate fun!
slimj091 Oct 26th 2008 6:48PM
how ironic... because we want you to go away also. no.. just kidding. your nerd tears wash your brains down the pipe very nicely. please don't leave!

Agreed.
I'm ambivalent about the zombie invasion. I love WoW lore. I've gone back as a seventy to do all the lore quests and chains in the Plaguelands (specially the Fordring questline. I love that story.) And from a lore perspective, the invasion is cool.
But there is absolutely nothing lore related when level 70 zombie players continually camp lowbie areas. My Recruit a Friend days are ticking away as a friend and I try to level with Level ?? Zombies continually camping Goldshire and Northshire, killing all the questgivers, vendors, trainers, and even us.
I'm not an RPer. I'm on a Normal server because I don't particularly enjoy PvP. The Zombie thing is too PvP for my tastes, to be honest. On my 70, I have no problem keeping the Zombies away from me...but when you're a level seven? Good luck.
And I'm sure my comment's going to be voted down because I don't think that running into the AH and exploding is fun.

@ Cyanea
Sure, it sucks when ghouls are killing everyone you need to talk to and all the questgivers and stuff like that. But since you like the Lore, you should see this as lore.
It's a plague, plagues aren't supposed to be fun, ghouls don't give a shit if you didn't want to be infected or if you wanted to talk to the person who JUST then turned into a member of the scourge.
It's only a few days and I love it, I love the lore, and sure, it bugs me when i get turned or when my questgivers/auctionhouse people get killed, but they respawn fast and it's not meant to be convenient anyway.
Cyanea Oct 26th 2008 7:52PM
@Alittan
There's nothing lore related when people are specifically making arrangements to specifically camp newbie areas constantly. The General chat last night on my server was full of that. There was one Level 70 who stood inside of Northshire Abbey just out of sight, waiting until a low level person came in to talk to the questgiver in the entrance before one-shotting them.
Cyanea Oct 26th 2008 8:04PM
I should also admit that I'm not completely against the event. The other night, when I was on my seventy grouping with a bunch of other random high-levels clearing out Darkshire, I had a blast culling zombies, only to be infected and to go after the people I had just been with, and then going after zombies again once I was killed and rezzed, etc. It was one of the most fun things I've done in WoW.
I just wish there were some more controls on it so that those that don't wish to participate aren't forced.

"I just wish there were some more controls on it so that those that don't wish to participate aren't forced."
wouldn't it be nice if in real life you get a box pop up asking you if you would like to participate in contracting a deadly disease?
i mean i'm sure there were a bunch of people in stratholme that opted out of the first plauge because they had work to do.
this isn't an attack on the willing. this is an attack on humanity. that includes bored lvl 70's, and scrub lvl 1's. the one mistake they made was making lvl 1 people that get turned so weak. i'm sure less people would be complaining if they didn't get one shotted by guards right after getting one shotted by a lvl 70 zombie.
Cyanea Oct 26th 2008 9:40PM
@slimj091
Did you really just compare an event in a video game to catching a real life disease? Really? REALLY?
If you really want that level of realism in this game, why aren't you petitioning Blizzard to make running from one town to another take a realistic 20+ hours?
It's a video game. It's not SUPPOSED to mimic reality in every way, shape, and form.

I swear Daniel must have been in the chatroom on Saturday for the show, I said World of Zombiecraft there =P All joking aside however, better get him down by Wednesday.
SBKT Oct 26th 2008 6:40PM
Seems the next phase may have ALREADY started, by the way.
Vinna Oct 26th 2008 7:47PM
does anyone know if he soft resets like the animal bosses or can you go back in and take new people on a existing raid id?
Chamual Oct 26th 2008 7:49PM
@Cyanea
How is level 70 players camping lowbie areas not part of the lore!? It is a zombie invasion for crying out loud!!!! They are taking over the world, lowbies and all!!
If what Blizzard wanted was to give us a reason to go kick the Lich Kings arse, then this is surely it- He has ruined our raid schedule, made battleground and flight masters unusable, ruined our levelling stratagy we downloaded from the net, I mean, what a total bastard he is sitting up there all smug on his frozen throne!
10/10 to Blizzard for actually letting the players be part of the plague\curse\invasion rather than just sitting back watching it unfold before us.
ZekeGrimsblade Oct 26th 2008 10:01PM
I agree with her. It's not LORE for level 70's to be camping newbie zones. It's BS. It's not LORE, for level 70's to go to STV and GHANK 30 to 40's.
Cyanea Oct 26th 2008 10:07PM
What zombie movie can you think of where the zombies got together and said, "Let's not attack that area because it's full of soldiers. Let's go attack that orphanage full of children." What Zombie movie can you tell me where the zombie lies in wait for weaklings to come into a certain area before attacking them? It's not lore to organize camping sessions because a bunch of level seventies are bored and want to piss of new guys.
