Zombie invasion phase 5 begins [Updated x5]
It appears that phase 5 of the zombie invasion has begun. We'll be updating this post with what we know and are hearing throughout Azeroth. So far we know of the following phase 5 changes:
- Zombie infection down to 1 mintue.
- Most Argent Dawn Healers have left. Ironforge only has three healers, one near the King, one on the second story of the inn near the auction house, and one near the flight path.
- Most cities are being overran with zombies. Nearly everything and everyone is getting turned into one - NPCs and players alike.
- Argent Dawn Paladins are handing out Lesser Mark of the Dawn. They should hand out more powerful ones as the event progresses. The current ones increase stamina by 11, or 110 HP.
- There are zombies and infected rats spilling out of the Stockades in Stormwind. See a picture of it.
- The Cenarion Circle realm crashed, and upon its revival there were no Argent Dawn Healers present. It appears the Cenarion Circle realm will become zombiefied in a matter of minutes. I wish all my friends there many many delicous brains.
- A new quest is available called "A Desperate Alliance". It hints at the Horde and Alliance joining forces! See the quest here.
- A Frozen Shade has been confirmed to be whispering players "There. I found you...", "Your kingdoms shall fall, Human!", ""Your mighty castles will crumble and your loved ones will join the Lich King's ranks!"
- Lots of new stuff. We'll be making a new post on this as soon as we gather all the available information.

It's getting quite ridiculous. It has gone too far now.
Jon B Oct 26th 2008 3:24PM
Have some fun with it, these events don't come around very often.
Vapori @ Frostmane Oct 26th 2008 3:28PM
QQ. This is exactly what it should be like — didn't you play WC3?
Michel Oct 26th 2008 3:29PM

Yes I played WC3, and I usually played as Undead. I love the lore and the idea behind it, just no longer like the implementation of it. I do actively hunt out zombies and throw myself headlong into battles I am outnumbered in, it's just no longer fun with people only trying to infect rather than kill me.

agreed, this is making pve servers into pvp servers

Honestly, that was a very stupid move from blizzard.
ppl have no choice but to enter that story line. This is contrary to the spirit of WOW that permit ppl to play what they like -- mainly ignoring what they don't like.
Honestly -- That zombie think does not appeal to me neither it is the reason I am a customer for WOW.
To me, that a proof they have bad taste at time and that they don't know when to stop. That also a proof that they don't care about there customers (Wide and Large).
They hopes to gather media coverage... Good -- But they do it on the back of numerous innocent bystanders they, at time, call "Customer". I did not see yet Blizzard offering to extent the subcription (Free of charge) of every customer for this lost of functionality they themselve purposely introduce.
Summary -- I am piss

Summary -- I don't care

"Summary -- I am piss"

Exactly. If you have all the sunwell-geared 70s you want, and are easily amused, this is fine. Otherwise, this is a waste of my money. (I have never played WC3, never will and do not want to spend my subscription.)
It is especially frustrating as I had a plan on leveling some lowbies and calculated the xp I need to get per day to achieve it. But WoW was unavailable for many days due to software bugs and performance problems. ( And whichever Blizzard employee said that most addons would work was seriously wrong and/or lied. ) So after all these problems, WoW is effectively unavailable to me now. Now, if Bliz had announced in advance that they were going to have a buggy, poor performance release followed by extreme silliness, then I would have known in advance what to plan on and would have been disappointed but much less angry. They are still taking my money; why are they providing the game I paid for????

This. Is. AWESOME.

The only issue I have with it is that zombified players aren't targetable. So I can't stop them from spreading the infection (NPCs can, players cannot).
I like the event, but it's seeming artificial at this point... meaning that no matter what we do, the mechanics are being stacked against us. I assume that this will turn with... something big happening to turn the tide back at the last moment.
And no, i didn't play WC3.
Kassu Oct 26th 2008 7:25PM
I will get downvoted to the deepest depths of hell for this, but...
This event is quite clearly geared towards the players with a max level character. And I FULLY understand the appeal of this event to people like that.
But to those who are actually trying to level up their low level chars are pretty much wasting subscription time.
I spent an entire hour in an AH today, just trying to get rid of my loot and upgrade my gear, because people kept killing the NPCs. And being ganked by a horde of zombies while questing isn't entertaining, it's annoying.
Dave the tree hugger Oct 26th 2008 10:36PM
I couldn't agree more.
No I'm not a teenager. I have a teenage son. Blizzard got this one right. It won't last so enjoy...chaos reigns supreme
cynthias Oct 26th 2008 4:09PM
Oh joy, another 9g repair bill just to get to a flight path.
Grink Oct 27th 2008 2:36PM
Take your armor off?
Tonio Oct 26th 2008 3:26PM
I am a bit conserned, does this mean zombies are done soon? And thus also the invasion? Anyone know?
Muse Oct 26th 2008 4:16PM
Yeah. We're down to counting hours until it finishes now, not days.
I'm gonna miss it.
