Zombie invasion phase 5.5 - quests to the faction leaders and Shattrath [Updated x4]

It is all very, very evil. And very, very cool.
These quests all hint at a cure being found for the plague. Additionally, there are new structures appearing in Shattrath. They are all apparently being commanded by Grand Apothecary Putress (WoWWiki information).
The bullet points for this phase are as follows. Time stamped updates are given after the break.
- A cure for the plague is being worked on.
- New quests given by "commoners" in the capital cities.
- Quests lead to Putress and the faction leaders.
- Grand Apothecary Putress appears as a level 80 elite NPC in Shattrath.
- Putress has some interesting idle conversation while in Shattrath.
- The Night Elf faction leader hints at a new World Tree upon quest completion.
- A Frozen Shade or a Dual-plagued Brain will have a conversation with you while you're completing the quests.
Many thanks to everyone who is sending up tips! You're helping everyone stay abreast of the latest invasion news!
Quotes from the Frozen Shade:
- There. I found you...
- Your kingdoms shall fall, Human!
- Your mighty castles will crumble and your loved ones will join the Lich King's ranks!
- Greetings...
- My master has a message for you...
- It is this: Welcome.
- Welcome to a cold death.
- Greetings...
- The stench of that holy trinket you carry disgusts me...
- Why don't you discard it...
- I see you...
- Join us, Osullavan. Swear ligeance* to the Lich King. Give yourself to him and know peace... the peace you have been denied since your wailing, terrified birth.
- Ahh, there you are...
- Say goodbye to the ones you love, Shaman.
- There is fire in my eys! My mind!
- Cling to your hope, mortal!
- Hope sweetens the soul, and yours will be a fine dessert for the Lich King!
- Give me your brain!
- I must feed...
- You... I've seen you in Shattrath...
- My King knows of you. He wants to see you.
- Please! ! Destroy me!
- Let the torture end!
- Show mercy! Give me peace!
- Where am I? So dark...
- Ling flesh eases the pain...
- Please, I just need a little. A finger or an ear will do.

I gotta admit Blizz DID kind of drop the ball a bit on this one. For those of us that are within earshot of hitting the necessary level to enjoy this expansions promo stuff are having the hardest time trying to turn in certain quests or navigate through major capitols without being infected. It took me two hours just to turn in three quests- mind you just to TURN THEM IN- because either the quest giver was a zombie, or I was, or they were dead, or I was. And I only ever really play a couple-two hours usually. And then getting through to an AH to resupply or upgrade has been an all-but-abandoned endeavor. Blizz wants to make a PVP push to try to beat out WAR but has only made it easier for the griefers to annoy the ever-loving shit out of everyone else. At least trade chat has been quieter.

Anyone notice the name of the giant light beacon in front of the bishop guy? The Porta-Pew.

Great reporting guys, I love my updates fast :P
About the faction leader quest, it's one of the scariest things ever whispered to me....

By "all hint at a curse being found" do you mean "all hint at a *cure* being found"?
Kassu Oct 26th 2008 9:21PM
I really really-really-really hate that I cannot even get the slightest taste of this (Besides the Zombie annoyance...), because it's endgame shizzle.
Thanks Blizzard.

But I bet you're more-than-willing to accept the recruit-a-friend faster levelling if you're on it, the reduction in xp needed to level from 60-70, the previous reduction across-the-board in xp needed from level 20 to 60, aren't you? It's all part of the package. If you don't like that one tiny element is geared towards the level cap, tough. Blizzard is doing everything they reasonably can to get you there fast. Suck it up.

It is? I mean, unless you're not L58, there's no reason you can't participate in this.
Cow Oct 26th 2008 9:33PM
You people just need to stop slacking.
Unless you started last week, there's no excuse for not being 70 yet.
havitech Oct 26th 2008 10:04PM
I can't believe they held the opening of the AQ gates before I even played the game! What a bunch of inconsiderate jerks those Blizzard folks are!
Aigarius Oct 27th 2008 12:27AM
A friend of mine leveled a warlock on a PVP server in 3 days last week using the recuit-a-friend XP bonus. There is no excuse.
kidsmoke Oct 27th 2008 2:25AM
You are an idiot.
There are plenty of low level Scourge bosses scattered throughout Azerothian dungeons that you can get nice blues from.
Kassu Oct 27th 2008 8:03AM
Nice blue items? I want the god damn lore.
Also, I just came back to my old account last week, after a year long break. No recruit a friend...
You telling me that i could push my level 40 rogue to 58 in time, to see all the quests?
I don't think so.

@ Cow and others:
"Slacking"? "No excuse" for not being 70? Dude... it's a *game*, not a job, a race, or a responsibility. Some people like to enjoy the journey, not speed to the end. Some people don't play every day, and/or don't feel like playing for 12-20 hours at a time. Some people, myself included, have jobs, hobbies, and attempts at a social life, and therefore can't or don't want to do nothing but play WoW. Calling people slackers for not devoting their lives to something that's supposed to be fun, not an obligation, really makes you come off as elitist and obsessed with the game. I'm not saying you are, just that that's the impression you're making.
Now, I don't mind when I'm not high-level enough to participate in every part of the annual events. I figure they'll be back next year, and I'll have more powerful characters then. But when it's a one-time event, something that won't ever happen again, and I can't see most of it because it's all designed for level 70s? That upsets me a little.

Need I remind you, people have been unable to complete quests, do dailies or anything worthwhile since the ZOMBIE infestation. People are infecting all places - the cities of course are the main disruption - but other places have been hit too. (I say players when I should say griefers...)
Bjara Oct 26th 2008 9:30PM
This one personally disturbed me:
"Join us, Bjara. Swear liegance (that's how they spelled it!) to the Lich King. Give yourself to him and know peace. . .the peace you have been denied since your wailing, terrified birth."
And "There is no honor fighting us when the end has already been written. Azeroth... will... die."
I imagine these Frozen Shades talking in some sort of Christopher Lee-like voice, lol.
Claff Oct 26th 2008 9:35PM
Could the artifact possibly be the Purified Ashbringer? What else would they need so many priests and paladins for?
Charlie Taylor Oct 26th 2008 11:18PM
I just read that to myself in a Christopher Lee voice, per your suggestion.
Best fit ever.
Please blizzard get Christopher Lee to voice-act sometime in the future for a game!!
