Zombie invasion phase 5.5 - quests to the faction leaders and Shattrath [Updated x4]

It is all very, very evil. And very, very cool.
These quests all hint at a cure being found for the plague. Additionally, there are new structures appearing in Shattrath. They are all apparently being commanded by Grand Apothecary Putress (WoWWiki information).
The bullet points for this phase are as follows. Time stamped updates are given after the break.
- A cure for the plague is being worked on.
- New quests given by "commoners" in the capital cities.
- Quests lead to Putress and the faction leaders.
- Grand Apothecary Putress appears as a level 80 elite NPC in Shattrath.
- Putress has some interesting idle conversation while in Shattrath.
- The Night Elf faction leader hints at a new World Tree upon quest completion.
- A Frozen Shade or a Dual-plagued Brain will have a conversation with you while you're completing the quests.
Many thanks to everyone who is sending up tips! You're helping everyone stay abreast of the latest invasion news!
Quotes from the Frozen Shade:
- There. I found you...
- Your kingdoms shall fall, Human!
- Your mighty castles will crumble and your loved ones will join the Lich King's ranks!
- Greetings...
- My master has a message for you...
- It is this: Welcome.
- Welcome to a cold death.
- Greetings...
- The stench of that holy trinket you carry disgusts me...
- Why don't you discard it...
- I see you...
- Join us, Osullavan. Swear ligeance* to the Lich King. Give yourself to him and know peace... the peace you have been denied since your wailing, terrified birth.
- Ahh, there you are...
- Say goodbye to the ones you love, Shaman.
- There is fire in my eys! My mind!
- Cling to your hope, mortal!
- Hope sweetens the soul, and yours will be a fine dessert for the Lich King!
- Give me your brain!
- I must feed...
- You... I've seen you in Shattrath...
- My King knows of you. He wants to see you.
- Please! ! Destroy me!
- Let the torture end!
- Show mercy! Give me peace!
- Where am I? So dark...
- Ling flesh eases the pain...
- Please, I just need a little. A finger or an ear will do.

Ligeance or Liegance:
The connection between sovereign and subject by which they were mutually bound, the former to protection and the securing of justice, the latter to faithful service; allegiance.
So the spelling and usage is correct on Blizzard's part.

haha, thanks for saying that, now I'm gonna hear it in his voice now.
Though that first one you mention is quite...disturbing. I'm loving this part.
Also loving some of the devices around Putress.

I'm sorry, but WotLKWiki had SS of this up over an hour ago. False claims are bad for the soul.

One full hour! The shame!

apparently the kings are immune to the disease because a buddy of mine just infected everything in the IF Kings room and everyone but the king is now zombified

I have to agree with Xoshe and Kassu. Granted I praise Blizz for dropping the XP needed for 60-70, since I'm a casual player (at the same time, I down them for nerfing the inst.’s like Kara and such – since I missed out on the hard stuff now). Anyway, back to the point, if you are a casual player, or newer to the world of WOW, then you are missing out. They should have at least placed in some content for the lower leveled players out there... just gives them more reason to level.
Kia Oct 26th 2008 10:19PM
Amen to that. Not all of us rush through the game or have been playing long enough to even -reach- near endgame yet. As awesome as this event is, Blizz needs to stop ignoring the newbies.
People are going to get turned off when they realize there's nothing on holidays/world events to involve them until they max their characters out...

@Kia: "People are going to get turned off when they realize there's nothing on holidays/world events to involve them until they max their characters out..."
YMMV, but in my experience, it actually inspires a good number of people to level up more quickly.
CvijaFaQ Oct 27th 2008 8:04AM
EVERY holiday and even this world event has stuff for low level players. There are tons of new bosses in instances like SFK, RFD, Scholomance, Stratholme, SM: Graveyard (not the Horseman).
Even as a low level player you can play as a zombie if you choose to.
rosencratz Oct 27th 2008 9:26AM
There is content for the low level players during the invasion.... there just isn't Epics.
Anything else you can see or take part in quite easily. There are low elvel quests outside the cities, all of the invasion related NPC's will talk to you about the events, why do you need a quest to talk to someone to talk to someone and why can't the people who've been playing the game for longer than you and more devotedly not get a little more for their efforts than you?
Get over it and just have some fun.

@ CvijaFaQ:
I tried playing my level 15 alt the other day, and between the zombies swarming me and the people fighting zombies one-shoting me, I spent much more time as a ghost waiting until I could ressurect myself than I did actually playing. I personally don't really count that as being able to participate, even as a zombie.
@ rosencratz:
You have a point about high level people deserving a little bang for their buck, but what I think Brim was trying to say was that the game feels like it has come to a grinding halt for anyone not already to 70, as I found out with said level 15.
@ most everyone else:
Why is it that the "negative" comments about this event are being voted down, despite that they aren't even really all that offensive? Are people that don't agree with the elitists really all that threatening? Heck, most of my server last night was saying that they hoped the people that thought up the zombie infestation had lost their jobs. I am still enjoying it somewhat, but I have to admit that I'm hoping it ends soon so I can begin remembering it with rose-colored glasses.
Maddeh Oct 26th 2008 9:38PM
i'm not seeing the quest from any of the commoners on my server...
Amaxe Oct 27th 2008 9:16AM
The zombies are killing them...

If you have cast bars on your UI, note what they say when you sit on the porta-pew's.
"WotLK Prologue Light Bea..." (is all that fits on mine :p)

WotLK Prologue Light Beam, minor
Claff Oct 26th 2008 9:41PM
Could the artifact be the purified Ashbringer? Why else would they need all those paladins and priests, along with the Naaru, in shatt?
(Posted again because I mistakingly replied to a post up there :p)
draeth Oct 26th 2008 9:41PM
or at the very least they should have made some low level zombies and zombie quests in the starting areas like goldshire, crossroads, etc and offered a crap ton of XP for lowbies to get in on the fun. Like make a quest called Zombie Hunters that requires a group of lowbies to complete or something to that effect.
havitech Oct 26th 2008 10:25PM
There already was something like this. I killed some level 9 undead guys right outside of SW and turned it in at the Valley of Heroes for 1s.
