The plague is gone, zombies dropping like flies
Just as Tigole said, the plague has indeed gone away. The crates are still there, but you can't contract the plague anymore. The zombies haven't been wiped out yet, but they'll eventually just wear themselves down, they can't spread the infection. No ceremony, no big events or explosions, the plague just stopped being effective. A little disappointing, really. However, there is a rumor, a rumor, that at 4 PM PST there will be stuff goin' down in Azeroth. Supposedly it will be 'epic.' What is it? I don't know. It's entirely a rumor, but man do we love us some rumors. You do too, don't you? I thought so! Well, if anything actually does happen, we'll be right here to let you know!
Edit: Well, a whole lot of nothin' happened. Rumors are a fickle mistress! A few readers have reported that the necopoli outside of major cities are hovering lower in the sky, but it's difficult to tell. That's all we've seen or heard so far.

And you are NOT prepared!
Ok, I couldn't resist :(

Same right back at you. The event was fun for lots of people, so why are you so important that it depends on if you liked it or not? For something that lasted only a couple of days, its not like its the end of the world (or maybe it is). If it really bothered you that much, just pry yourself away from your computer for a couple days.

Ah, good to see... also good to see the fools continuing to downvote all the comments of people who didn't like it.
To make myself fit in with you all:
OM NOM NOM THE TEARS OF THE ZOMBIES ARE TASTY

Looks like someone didn't see the argent healer fast enough...you sure you don't have a dual plagued brain up there?

Kinda glad it's over. Kinda not. It was definitely a *world* event tho. And the 90mins of giggling and maniacal from running an Alli alt into SW to zombie-bomb the AH, the Cathedral, and the Orphanage (the least effective of the three) will be fondly remembered.
I remember another time where Flameshockers were in SW as well. So here's to another frantic few days.

I'll be sad to see it go. I had quite a bit of fun with it. A friend and I did a zombie raid group earlier and getting through orgrimmar became a game that led to quite a bit of roof hopping to avoid the infected roads.
That said I do understand how it could be very annoying especially for lower levels. If there was one thing to add it may have been a buff upon zombie that prevented reinfection for 2-5 minutes especially when the minute timer came on. You can click it off if you want to get right back out there and it gives lowbies at least a chance to avoid those whose main aim to infect other players.

@yeng #29 ... You still didn't answer you question. You get off on screwing others over? Is that your driving passion? It is fine for the first time or two, but after that it is bullshit. The entire event was Blizzard sanctioned griefing. Not surprised you little brats got such pleasure on causing others pain. You're pitiful.
Warcloud Oct 27th 2008 4:09PM
Would you listen to yourself? You not being able to grind the same-old same-old for a couple days , is 'pain'? You really used the word pain?
Yeng Oct 27th 2008 4:11PM
No but I like having fun. Obviously something you've forgotten in the game. I had fun from both being the zombie and fighting the zombies. If you had issues with zombies you could have been fighting them...fighting them was actually quite easy, they die a lot faster than you and are extremely slow. But no, you're probably one of the ones who didn't try to participate in the event and just sat in town brooding about it and how Blizzard ruined the game for you.
If you aren't having fun in the game, stop playing.
Guido666 Oct 27th 2008 4:12PM
I take it that you have never played on a PvP server.
Besides, what game are you mistaken that this is? Mario RPG? The very foundation of the game is based on war and conflict. Horde vs. Alliance, Azeroth vs. Scourge, ...
And yes, the fact that all the QQ posts get downvoted yet not a single one of the "I loved it" posts has should tell you something about the demographic you're speaking to. I think it's telling you that we aren't interested in your whining.

"Wow, I'm glad your fun is more important than everyone else's. It is not surprising that this new generation is so selfish and self absorbed. I can't understand how you guys get off on screwing other people over. That is exactly what it was about. Fuck all of you."
First of all , I am probably older than your Father, sonny boy, to stuff it.
Perhaps sitting in a "time-out' corner will help you to understand that you have to tolerate other people and learn that not everyone feels the same as you about what 'fun' is.
I hope the rumors that this is over are not true. I want to infect the Mage's Quarters again. What fun!
Leah Oct 27th 2008 4:50PM
"understand that you have to tolerate other people and learn that not everyone feels the same as you about what 'fun' is."
what a great advice. you should take it. as well as those lovely people who think and say it most empathicaly in some very unpleasant terms, that not enjoying the event and stating that outloud automaticaly makes you a no fun whiner.
Ktok Oct 27th 2008 5:13PM
I'm getting really sick of the bitching... The event was *fun* if you just gave it a try and realized it was a major chance for RP. Not a zombie yet? Fight them. Get turned? Help them. Get killed? Go back to fighting them. Play it like that, and it was a ton of fun. Play it like some bitchy stick in the rear person who won't try something new because it's not something they've done before, and yeah you're going to be all angsty about it.
Trust me, I get that it sucks to have your quest NPCs dead. I understand you picked a PvE server for a reason. However, I think a lot of people are going to end up regretting that they didn't play along now that the plague is gone. I started off hating it, but after spending an evening playing along and alternating between fighting the Scourge and helping, I am thrilled that I gave it a chance. I would have really been missing out if I hadn't.
My advice? Try new things. You might like them.

Best.
World.
Event.
Ever.
I hope we see more infections soon.
Stormsinger Oct 27th 2008 6:11PM
Seconded. And I hope it's not over too. I loved the feeling of having to run to an Argent healer or getting nervous when I noticed the nearby one was dead. And the ground becoming unsafe in Shatt, loved it. All had the feel of the classic zombie movies.
Ticked me off a couple times, but I could have stood a couple more days easily. And, oddly, it brings out my non-existent RP side where my Pali couldn't stop herself from blasting undead in Shatt. When she was overwhelmed and couldn't cleanse herself (as was the way late in the event) I'd shamble around as a hideous zombie looking for victims.
I really wonder is the people unhappy with the event are evenly distributed on PvP and PvE servers. As a PvE guy I'm not used the griefing and forces messing with my experience of the game. I expect that people on PvP servers are much more inured to this sort of thing.

I know the feeling Cyanea. You spend the time to type out a thoughtful post, and people think, "Aha! A post remotely relevant to a common point of QQ! TROLL LAZORZ ACTIVATE!"
Kenny Oct 27th 2008 3:52PM
They are saying Arthas is going to attack in the next event.
jay Oct 27th 2008 4:34PM
Who's they?
Galalira Oct 27th 2008 3:52PM
I don't get it! Putred hasn't even appeared on my realm, and they are talking about the plague being over?
None of the commoners talk about anything other then hallows eve
Scott Oct 27th 2008 3:52PM
I wasn't thrilled with the fact that I couldn't escape Org alive (Argent healer was dead), but I did enjoy the "world event" aspect.
