The plague is gone, zombies dropping like flies
Just as Tigole said, the plague has indeed gone away. The crates are still there, but you can't contract the plague anymore. The zombies haven't been wiped out yet, but they'll eventually just wear themselves down, they can't spread the infection. No ceremony, no big events or explosions, the plague just stopped being effective. A little disappointing, really. However, there is a rumor, a rumor, that at 4 PM PST there will be stuff goin' down in Azeroth. Supposedly it will be 'epic.' What is it? I don't know. It's entirely a rumor, but man do we love us some rumors. You do too, don't you? I thought so! Well, if anything actually does happen, we'll be right here to let you know!
Edit: Well, a whole lot of nothin' happened. Rumors are a fickle mistress! A few readers have reported that the necopoli outside of major cities are hovering lower in the sky, but it's difficult to tell. That's all we've seen or heard so far.

"If you reaaaally need everything then Darnassus and Exodar were quiet as tombs."
That's true about Darn. Darn is practically a ghost town anyways so it's hard to get a pandemic going. Not that I didn't give it a try several times.

"I'm sorry that I don't play my game to your standards. Tell you what...you start paying my 15$ a month, and I'll play the game exactly how you want me to."
That sums it up perfectly. Smartest thing said in this entire debate.

I'll just add my 2 cents to this. I thought the event was a mixed bag. First off amazingly cool idea, a lot of people me included wanted to see ogrimmar get razed, and by all means it seemed like it was for awhile. The zombie spreading plague was really unique from my gaming experience. Being a zombie was pretty fun at times. However being a prot warrior meant even if I wanted too I couldn't hunt zombies or else I'd just get plagued instantly for being melee. It was ok when the plague was 5 minutes since you could usually get some kills and run to get cleansed, but at 2 and 1 minute it was hopeless. I just avoided cities which was fine for the most part however i felt I couldn't participate in defending against the plague. My biggest gripe was why the hell was there not an Argent Healer at the Lights Hope Chapel? Like really it's their main base of operations. On my server the Invasion quest givers were locked down for hours with a huge zombie lag fest. It actually would have been a lot of fun if there was at least 1 Argent Healer semi near by. Another gripe was just a lack of quests or focus during the event. Would have been nice to have a bunch of small quests sort of like AQ40 to gather supplies or kill x number of zombies. Even zombie quests or achievements like get a special achievement for turning x number of people into zombies. I like the idea someone else posted too about having the plague slowly claim whole areas of the city and having npcs getting pushed back. Actually having buildings burned to the ground or something would have been cool too. OH and it ended so abruptly.. like no effort to end it it just stopped. Should have been ala AQ40 server wide quests or turnins or something and t hen a nice little war that cleansed the plague. If it had been more than just a bunch of zombie ganking and gave players more of a chance to actually make an impact rather then just wait for the cure to vanish it wouldn't have felt so much like a sometimes fun but ultimately useless grief fest.

Do not be to quick to judge, the event is far from over.
Everything can happen :)

For the record: The down voted posts are the ones read most thoroughly ;)

The downrated posts are also the ones I'm sure will give me eye cancer. Light grey text on white background--argh... ;) There's got to be a better way to mark downrated posts, WoW Insider?

Prophetik Oct 27th 2008 5:54PM
Lowbie quests, NPC gives a quest on the edges of the cities.

Least. Informative. Post. Ever.
Seriously, why did you feel the need to post this comment?
Calybos Oct 27th 2008 5:01PM
Probably due to the most involuntary PVP ever on PVE servers.
Not exactly a surprise that the PVE population wasn't 100% thrilled with getting dragged into PVP distractions against their will, is it?

To all the zombie haters:
You know what - if you tried to get into it... if you saw that all these zombies were making it extremely difficult to play the way you normally expect to play, and said "well, if I can't beat 'em, I guess I'll join em"... if you gave it a halfway decent shot at showing you some new fun to have in game, knowing it will revert back to normal soon enough... if you did that, and you didn't enjoy it, then fine. I'm sincerely sorry the event wasn't fun for you, even though I didn't design it.
On the other hand, if you DIDN'T try to take part in it... if you just got more and more petulant as time went on without even trying to have some fun with it, instead of whatever solo pursuit you devote your MMORPG time to... then I have no pity for you. Yeah, I know, you pay $15/mo just like everybody else - that doesn't mean you're not a self-absorbed jackass.

With 16 more days until Wrath you can bank on Blizzard turning up the heat of these events. This is the tip of the ice burg of what is to come. The lich king is going to send stronger and stronger units.

I hope so. More Zombie infections at least.

"what a great advice. you should take it. as well as those lovely people who think and say it most empathicaly in some very unpleasant terms, that not enjoying the event and stating that outloud automaticaly makes you a no fun whiner."
Um....I am taking my own advice. I love the zombies and I love reading about people bitching about them.
And I didn't call anyone a whiner. Yet.

I liked this world event. What else can be better than zombies taking over cities and droves and mysterious floating structures in the air?
My only beef is with zombies attacking flight masters. Very tough to trick or treat when your flight master is a zombie hungry for brains! They are worse than TSA when you have a bottled water.
Anukris Oct 27th 2008 5:10PM
Ha if you like rumors then you'll love this one. The whole lack of a conclusion to the event is because a good portion of the player population was voicing a dislike of the event and so it was pulled early. Oh to have been a fly on the wall in the offices of Blizz this morning when all the feed back was looked at.
