It did build up to a conclusion and that conclusion was at the darkest hour putress spawned with a cure to the plague. Now the story is likely to follow the alliance direction of having a way of focusing beams of holy light to shoot down necropoli. If you talk to either of the shattrah npcs they will tell you the horde took on the responsability of finding a cure and the alliance the responsibility of dealing with the necropoli.
