WoW Moviewatch: Homesick: The Making of a Supervillain
For some reason, I also find myself fascinated with the way Gnomechewer blends the pulp medieval setting of Warcraft with modern day technology and communications. Warcraft has always had some element of technology which I've adored, but that level of modern technology isn't something I would enjoy in WoW itself. In this format, though, it's very intriguing. Another good example of this is his machinima Back In Your Head, which displays the effects of media and social networking on Jaina Proudmoore and Kael'thas Sunstrider's hypothetical celebrity relationship.
The end of this particular video is a bit grim and a bit abrupt, which Gnomechewer said was a result of running out of HD space, but I still found the ending neat. Abrupt, but neat. It felt like enough of a twist that it wasn't too bad, but I find myself wishing he

Awesomeness as usual! Can't help but feel sorry for the poor widdle gnome :(
The hanging guy at the end was just awesome.

He misspelled "Gnomeregan" as "Gomeregan" in the first headline.
Other than that... pretty cool video !

Yeah, for some reason machinima makers don't ever feel the need to proofread. Game designers either, for that matter.

I noticed that too... but you could say it was a typo the newspaper made, that would be possible :P

i rarely enjoy wow vids. this one however is great. evocative, dark, great music. love the organic-tech blend. abstract enough for the viewer to use their imagination and at the same time the intelligent layout, shots create an empathic response to the primary character.

Just curious...
why is it that so many machinima designers choose to use alliance characters as their main character?
why is it that many PvP video designers are horde characters?
I'm sensing a pattern here...

@Sabotage: SERIOUSLY! Honestly I ask the same thing of myself all the time. All of my characters (except one babe) are Horde... yet I am compelled to use alliance characters in movies. My theory on the matter is that when playing the game you're assuming the role of THAT guy, so I tend to choose things that would be impossible to be in real life... whereas in making a movie, i think the director is trying to convey a message or a particular emotion in the opposite direction... from him/her to the character as opposed to assuming the characters role.
Besides that, while I do love the atmosphere of the Horde, the actual lore that I'm interested in is usually Alliance related. The Horde have a lot of lore about honor and heroes and that gets old... but the Alliance is filled with themes of betrayal and intrigue... DRAAAAAAMA

He crossed Garry's mod into this? That's what a bit of that looks like. Maybe he should have slipped in the G-man with a stupid face to confirm it.
Naw, that would really kill the whole mood of the movie, but would have been amusing to see.

Another highly entertaining video about an extremely dull and uninteresting topic in my opinion: the loss of Gnomeregan.
According to lore, gnomes don't live in the past. They are constantly and singularly concentrating on the future and their research and development of spell/machine/etc. here.
As I said, the video was exceptionally well done and I enjoyed it, but the theme is getting pretty recycled at this point honestly.

Eh, lore nerds seem to have a hardon for the "lost gnomergon" I agree with you though.

Great work once again Gnomechewer. Music fit the vid perfectly.

Gnome Powa!

Beautifully haunting video there. And great choice of music too. But i didn't get the ending so much. Who is the guy hanging in the end? Anyone in particular i missed or just to show that our dear professor is not taking anymore crap and would hang anyone as long as they are human?
But great movie. Looking forward to the sequel (if it comes) - The Burning of Stormwind! Or so I hope. Always warms a horde heart watching the allies burn. Ahhh.. good times.

I had assumed that the person hanging was the person talking to the Gnome, under the guise of another Gnome. A human goading him on.

I love this guy! his music choices are amazing :)
he has a lot of good stuff
