Our guild, which is super casual, is looking to do the old raids at 70 or 80. We know it's not the same. But a few points come to mind. First, the old 40 mans were indeed horrible in all ways, vastly time inefficent, a nightmare to organize, endless farming for drops that you get to roll versus 10 other people for, etc. It wasn't fun. While the instances themselves seem fun, and the bosses seem fun, that's about it, and as any old raider can tell you, 1000 times through MC is too much. Lastly, as people mentioned, just play WoW without TBC or WOTLK installed. You'll stop at 60 automatically, you'll never see Outland, the only difference is the talent trees and the fact that you can get OL gear through AH. To me, if you want to struggle with raids, go through Wraith as quick as you can, and be in one of the cutting edge hardcore guilds that do the server firsts of bosses. This is where the excitment and progression is, not bosses that are years old that old raiders have done to death.
