Around Azeroth: It's all over now
A lot of people have been complaining about the nerfed raiding content, but I can see one good effect -- it's allowed a ton of people to see new fights before Wrath comes and makes everything irrelevant again. In this shot, Petrav and <Rising Anarchy> of Doomhammer have just killed Kil'jaeden, and took a shot of WoW's lovely "ending screen." Petrav gave props to guild leader Omega for leading them through the last of the content at this late stage. Congrats, Rising Anarchy!
Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards.

"A lot of people have been complaining about the nerfed raiding content"
If they don't like the nerfed raiding content either wait 2 weeks or don't raid. Simple really.
Rugus Oct 30th 2008 10:38AM
They do not like because they invested a LOT of time to get the best gear, find a great guild and raid on a constant basis. Now that this stuff is easier to get, they feel betrayed. It's like Amani Bear mount: I would love to have one if it was a HARD thing to get. But shortly before patch 3.0 everyone spent the required gold to get one... making it a sad and "common" mount.
Think of hard titles to get, like "Champion of the Naaru". A long questline, instances, etc. and finally you get it and you're proud to show it to others... What if Blizzard says "ok, now you can buy the title spending 2000G, like you can do it with "of Shattered Sun (1000G) on Quel'Danas isle".
Would you like it? :)

"Would you like it?"
I am happy when others can do well. I was upset I had never seen older raid content when BC was weeks away. because I knew I would never see that content. With this patch I am getting to see all the content I would otherwise miss out on.
Personal accomplishments should in no way judged against others. You know you put in the effort before the nurf just be satisfied with that.

All those that think its ok to nerf raid instances so others can see content are the ppl that would use cheat codes. How about this, at level 80 go back into BT and raid it. It should be easy. You don't need to nerf the instances to see the content. So what if you can't do it now. You can still do it later. Our guild runs retro-raids just for that purpose. I've pulled ppl through MC, BWL, AQ40, and Naxx before it left. In fact, these raids fill up faster than the 25 mans. This is just Blizz's way to make the content worthless so you buy Wrath. QQ is killing this game.

@ Rogus
Personally I wouldnt be offended (I have the title) I was in a T5 raiding guild I probably would have never seen BT if it wasnt for the nerf, and it was cool to see the boss fight.
Too many people with too big of egos, with all the "IM THE SUPREME RAIDER" Yeah they spend alot of time, but other people spend alot of time with other aspects of wow(leveling, questing, pvp etc) I think players should be able to experience all the content of the game, they pay the same amount monthly as everyone else.

Nerfing is two fold thingy, atleast for me. I am able to see new content that was unreachable to us pre-nerf- But on the other hand, when we take a new boss down it does not feel as good as pre-patch.
Archimonde was a exception to this, still a bitch :D
Rugus Oct 30th 2008 10:44AM
I have to say that I rushed to level 70 and tried to uber-equip my warrior to tank instances and "grow" (experience, abilities, tanking quality)... still, high-end content (post Kara I mean) require a good guild, time, *great* gear, ... Yes, boss fights have been nerfed but I would say that raids are still challenging, at least in terms of time you have to invest to really see the "end" of them (I'll never be able in 2 weeks I guess... sad me!).
ckressbac@mac.com Oct 30th 2008 10:48AM
Archimonde wasn't nerfed. Well his damage might have been, but all MH bosses have the same health. Or so I am told.
We killed Illidan after about 6 tries. True, it wasn't as epic as it would have been before the nerf. But we totally could have held out for 30% more health, I thought.
Heilig Oct 30th 2008 11:45AM
All raid mobs from kara up were nerfed. You were told wrong.
Rugus Oct 30th 2008 11:00AM
What could be the best way to reach end content (post-Kara) in these 14 days before WOTLK release? Let's say I'd love to visit those places that will become abandoned/obsolete with Wotlk... what could I do? Got a hunter full epic (badge gear) and a warrior full blue/some epics, tank specced.
Don't laugh at me, I'm a total noob when it comes to "end content". Just give me suggestions... :)

On your characters get them raid ready and start Pug ZA, SSC, TK, and BT groups. Yes start pug BT groups fill up fast because a lot of ppl want to go to BT before the expansion.
gundamxzero Oct 30th 2008 1:47PM
On my server, I pug SSC/TK/MH/BT almost weekly. Depends on who you know and the server you were on.
Stormscale here.
Hudders Oct 30th 2008 11:11AM
My guild is a casual one and we didn't necessarily have the manpower or experience to start raiding.
The nerf has been a boon to us as it's allowed us to take eight people to Karazhan, including a tank that had never run heroics before and a hunter who had just dinged 70 the previous week.
FWIW, I've run Kara before in a PUG but it's much more enjoyable and satisfying to run it as a guild.

"guild leader Omega ... Congrats, Rising Anarchy!"
Ohh the irony!

I can empathize with the hardcore raiders. I can certainly see how they feel that all the hard work they put forth to learn the content, the encounters and earn the gear feels like their time and effort has been wasted.
I'm not anywhere close to a hardcore raider. I'm the T4/Badge geared player that has enjoyed seeing TK/MH before they aren't raided any longer.
I had a chance to run these the other day when one of the larger raiding guilds was pugging TK and MH. It was nice to see the instances but even more to learn the encounters.
I'll never be a hardcore raider. I'll put forth time and effort into my character to make sure they can do what they are called upon to do very well. And I'll devote energy to learning encounters. What I mean to say is that with the nerfing of this content players (such as myself) are given a chance to learn these fights because we'll be the ones others will be partying with and maybe even beginning raiding with once the end game comes again.
I feel that because of the tuning down of these fights it gives me a chance to learn these battles with people willing to help train and instruct. It make me a better player. For all the "hardcore" players that have still stuck around and started leading PUG's for this content. I wanted to say thank you.

Who's "Complaining" ?
Maybe the Uber-Elite "Your gear isn't good enough to shine my armour with, cuz you have a life." guilds that demand you be practically Sunwell geared before you can even stand in as back-up DPS in an off team Kara raid?
Waaaaa Waaaaa Waaaaaa!!! QQ
The non-Elite finally get to run the content without kissing your bums.
Yes, I'm bitter about it lol
Alch Oct 30th 2008 12:39PM
Even with the nerf I doubt more than 50% of the guilds will see the end of Sunwell.
Evi Oct 30th 2008 12:47PM
We have two weeks to go before WotLK. It doesn't bother me one bit that they nerfed content which will soon be irrelevant. There's no need to complain. The nerf doesn't take anyone's accomplishments away, and it allows people to see content they might otherwise never see. No one is going to give one whit about BT or Hyjal or Sunwell in two weeks. Be happy for the folks that are finally able to see some of that stuff.
breaklance Oct 30th 2008 1:08PM
I've been playing since the beginning of BC, and raiding a few months after its launch. In a little less than two years I leveled two toons to raid on and could never get into a truely good raiding guild and never saw more than 2/4 tk 4/6 ssc 4/9 bt 2/5 mh. And that was after spending several months developing and building my own guild which disintegrated due to WotLK. To make this story much shorter, only recently in this guild i joined was i able to atleast see Vashj down, soon to move onto kael. I'd like to farm the hell out of BT but those are 2 epic fights im glad leadership chose to get done since i probably won't see Illidian down.
Omega Oct 30th 2008 3:17PM
You know, with all the server transfers and everyone bouncing around, it's not as easy as you think to keep a consistent group of 30-35. In pre-BC when you had a raid team of 50-55, it was much easier because when a couple people didn't show, it wasn't that much of an effect on the team.
Nerf or no nerf, Kil'Jaeden (and Sunwell for that matter) still takes coordination and execution. You can't take a random pug of 25 and defeat Sunwell. The nerf and dps increase allows a lot more room for error, but it doesn't teach skill.
The Kil'Jaeden fight is fun, it's challenging and it truly is the most epic fight this game has seen, and nerf or not, I'm glad I got a taste.
Also it's a nice little sense of accomplishment for our whole team since we've been banging our heads against this wall for months. When Naxxramas came out so close to BC a couple years ago, it was very defeating when only a handful of guilds saw the end.
We're really now looking ahead to the xpac and getting a nice jump into raiding. From my experience on the beta, the content is fun, challenging and doesn't require so much class stacking.
...and it'll be nice not to have to go back and redo all the achievements!
