Blizzard announces official Wrath midnight launches
If you're interested in getting Wrath of the Lich King at a midnight launch with Blizzard employees present to sign your copy and discuss the game, Blizzard will be holding officlal midnight parties around the globe. For the moment, it looks like Amsterdam, Anaheim, Austin, Berlin, London, Madrid, Mexico City, New York City, Paris, San Francisco, Seoul, Stockholm, and Taipei will all have official midnight launches, complete with extra copies of the Collector's Edition Wrath on hand and Blizzard developers, executives, and CM's around.I've gone to the different WoW sites to see if there's any hard info on non-U.S. midnight launches and can't find it yet. I've possibly just missed it, so please let us know if there's information available on which stores outside the States will be hosting an official Blizzard launch. The one thing that we do know is that each site's launch will occur at midnight local time November 13th, and while there will be a ton of stores doing midnight launches, the official ones are just the locations where the Blizzard folks are going to be.
U.S. official launch sites ahead!
- ANAHEIM: Fry's Electronics at 3370 E. La Palma Avenue. (714) 688-3000.
- AUSTIN: GameStop at 10000 Research Boulevard. (512) 346-6437.
- NEW YORK CITY: Best Buy at 529 5th Avenue. (212) 808-0309.
- SAN FRANCISCO: GameStop at 151 Powell Street. (415) 362-7601.

Mr.C Oct 30th 2008 3:10PM
Oh they'll be up... and down, and up, and down, and up and down...
but mostly down ;)
Balino Oct 30th 2008 3:10PM
Here in Europe, the servers were up just as I finished installing Burning Crusade at 02 am. Why will this launch be any different?
Hank Oct 30th 2008 3:49PM
I am hoping that all the problems we've had since 3.0.2 came will mean less of the kind of problems that we had a BC launch.
Fleur Oct 30th 2008 3:07PM

We're not sure yet, but these are the cities that are currently listed. We'll post as soon as we know if (or where) new locations are going to be added. Otherwise the closest locations for most Canadians will be NYC and San Francisco. :(

What, no official release party in downtown Grimsby? I'm disgusted - it's a slap in the face to us Grimsbians. Cancel my account immediately.

I wonder how early one would have to line up in Austin to not still be there at 3am. And I wonder if it'd be considered some kind of faux pas for me to go since I work for a competitor. Hmm.
Saelorn Oct 30th 2008 3:18PM
I'll wait until it is available online. Is the estimate on that still around two weeks?
Namus Oct 30th 2008 3:26PM
I'd really love to know that, there is practically no chance for me to get it where I live without having to pay an excesive amount of money, do we have an oficial confirmation that online upgrades will be available two weeks from launch?
deviationer Oct 30th 2008 3:18PM

For us Brits...
"Here in the UK, the launch event will take place at HMV in London at 150 Oxford Street, London, W1D 1DJ, with doors opening at 00:01 on the night of the 12th/13th. As well as being among the first to acquire the expansion, attendees will have an opportunity to meet with COO Paul Sams and associate producer Lee Sparks, who will be present to welcome players and sign their copies. Similar launch events will be held internationally in North America, Taipei, and Seoul. Full details on the specific locations and plans for each of these events can be found at www.wow-europe.com/midnight. "

Hmmm... If I leave work and hit the road, drive as fast as I can without commiting a felony, plus 10 minutes for refueling in Yuma, multiplied by two, plus X (X = Number of minutes standing in line,) ummm... carry the one...
Hmmmm...
I might be able to be back at work in time the next morning.
komamura Oct 30th 2008 3:26PM
