A Simple Re-Quest bugged
I know you'll never believe this, but Blizzard has identified a bug in tracking one of the achievements. On the Achievements forum Tigole noted that zoning into a battleground will sometimes cause the counter to reset for "A Simple Re-Quest." For this achievement you must complete five dailies in a row. The known issue will be fixed in the upcoming patch 3.0.3 but Tigole recommends that if you are keen on earning this achievement in the meantime you may want to avoid entering the battlegrounds. It will be easy to complete 5 dailies after the patch, so it's not a huge deal. I am concerned that Blizzard isn't getting to the heart of the bug, though. There seems to be more to it than battlegrounds. Though I haven't done any battlegrounds since the patch was released and have completed several dailies each day, I have not been awarded this achievement. I've been too busy doing dailies, heroics, and daily heroics.
This was followed by one of many apologies made by Blizzard in recent weeks. When asked the simple request for a 3.0.3 release date, Tigole gave the entirely unexpected answer: Soonish. We'll see it when it's ready.

I noticed this a week or so ago and just stopped trying to get it.
When it's fixed I'll probably do another 5 days of crazy dailies (you can never do just one) and make a bit stack of gold.

I noticed it as well. Did anyone else notice that the dates are screwed up on when you get the achievements sometimes?
Johnzim Oct 31st 2008 11:10AM
Yeah I've noticed that too. The system is a little buggy it seems.

Yeah, the summary screen doesnt display the dates correctly, and I'm guessing that it doesn't display the correct achievements (most recent, most rare, etc). It shows ones that you've earned, but I see tons or random, stupid ones, like Level 10 or something.
Also, I'd like to see achievements in the armory...

I think the problem with the summary screen is that it thinks that your most recent achievements are those that you achieved retroactively, (i.e. any that you earned prior to the patch), which are given the current date every time you log in.
Personally, I've had "represent" at the top of my summary screen since day one.

I was wondering why it kept going back to 0...

"We'll see it when it's ready"
Thats a good time to release it.

A simple re-quest also requires you to do the SAME daily 5 days in a row (though it does not specify this).

Not quite true, I've been able to complete that achievement from doing the fishing and cooking dailies alone. And both of those are random, never had the same quest 5 days in a row
rosencratz Oct 31st 2008 12:32PM
I thought it was specified actually and even though the cooking and fishing dailies are random doesn't mean they're different. Fishing dailies are fishing dailies. Same quest giver, different objective.
I was told early on completing any objective reset the daily tracker. Not sure that was true but I personally was under the impression that it could only remember so many quests. In the end I just did one daily for five days and it worked. Coincidentally I also stopped visiting bgs during this time. Heh heh

It says "Complete a daily quest every day for 5 consecutive days."
It does not say "Complete the SAME daily quest every day for 5 consecutive days."
I was simply attempting to clear up some confusion that a lot of people are having.

While we're on the subject of bugs, has anyone else noticed that the Armory hasn't updated in the last two weeks? Did the zombies get into the servers or something?
Ryan11 Oct 31st 2008 11:17AM
While I've noticed that it's been down for maintenance more often than I would like, I've had no problems with it not updating... my characters, at least.
Don't you kindof just have to be on at the right time for it to grab your character data? Maybe you've missed it...
Ilem Oct 31st 2008 11:48AM
The Armory has updated every once in a while. Last week, it finally updated changes to my main over the course of about five or six days. Today, the Armory shows reputation increases that I just managed to get around to late last night, though. Meanwhile, a new guildie we picked up a couple of hours before my reputation changes isn't in the guild roster yet...
I'm guessing Blizzard may have changed the update intervals so the Armory's data collection doesn't add too much load to already overtaxed systems (thinking back to Blizz' comments last week about turning off some stats collection in the achievements panel).

I'm not sure if or when it's scheduled for updating, but I know that for a while (pre 3.x) the armory would update on logout, and be viewable immediately. I'm guessing with server crashes / forced logouts that they decided the pressure on the data centers was bad enough to suspend armory updates for many realms.

I think it resets every time the server restarts, as well.
Abbadon Oct 31st 2008 11:10AM
I noticed this right away as the counter reset several times on me... one time in the middle of just doing dailies... Started the day at 2/5, turn in a couple dailies and back to 0/5.
I've actually been trying this again... I've just been doing the cooking and fishing dailies and am at 3/5 as of today's turn ins.

In none of your groups for raids or the like has there been someone who has been in a battleground? I noticed it was resetting with that (battleground by group association perhaps) and reported it to them. I never reset, however, until the 4 hour reset time window which has cropped up (another mini-bug).
Your comment, "I am concerend that Blizzard isn't getting to the heart of the bug" did amuse me though. Waiting a few days/weeks isn't that big of a deal for something small like this and I'm pretty sure it isn't on their list of priorities. It's an achievement you will get soon enough and will not change your gameplay a single bit. Even entering Northrend, if you don't have it by then and don't want to do old content, you will have dailies from almost the get-go so will achieve this in no time. It is annoying, yes, I will grant you that, but seriously, not a big issue to be concerned about.
