Gold limit increased for character transfers

This should come as welcome news to some players who find that accumulating money in the current environment has become increasingly easier with daily quests and increased activity in the Auction Houses. The amount is still a far cry from the maximum amount of Gold a character can possess, but it's enough Gold to purchase a Grand Caravan Mammoth, currently the most expensive item in the Wrath Beta, with some change to spare. I'm not certain why there's a Gold limit to begin with, especially for max-level characters, but the raised cap should ease the burden for some well-heeled characters when making the leap. With a mere 300 Gold to my name, it's not something I think I'll be concerned with for quite some time, though...

The gold limit is a check against gold farmers, I assume.

"I'm not certain why there's a Gold limit to begin with"
Actually if you look at the last WoWinsider article you linked, someone pointed out that this correlates with a 32bit integer.

Thats the gold limit per character, which is a totally seperate issue from the gold transfer limit (which is clearly related to curbing gold farmers)

The Traveler's Tundra Mammoth sells for 20k and is the most expensive mount in Wrath beta, so I don't think you'll have any "change to spare." Note that the Wowhead tooltip price is its vendor price, not its purchase price.

This has not been officially announced yet, and has not been implemented. It could change at any time. WI should not have been told this information anyway.

While there's a limit on the amount of gold you can transfer, there's no limit on the value of the items you bring with you. You take a bit of a haircut, but if the gold limit is a problem before you transfer load up on epic gems, Blinkstrikes, and other high value easy to sell items.
