An end to Hallow's End

While I ended up missing the Hallowed Helm, two Squashling pets dropped out of five tries, which was a pretty good deal for the short time we had. We ran out of time on the last summon... as my guildie completed the quest to call out the Headless Horseman, he was able to utter the challenge but nothing came out from the grave. In fact, as the clock struck precisely at 4pm, the giant pumpkin disappeared, leaving us stupefied.
It was a fun Hallow's End event, even if it did get rudely interrupted by zombies. I hope that unlike me, most of you got what you needed from the event. The mount would've been nice, but I suppose there's always next year. By that time, I hope Blizzard will update the encounter for Level 80 with matching new loot. The Headless Horseman has about 12 months to level up.

I got the mount the 3rd day of the event and then got the squashling and helmet from trick or treat a couple of days after they added that, I'm quite happy about it and "The Hallowed" will look great on my rogue

The mount dropped for my group of 5 on the very first summon of the event. We spent 5 summons every day trying to get another one.
It dropped on our very last summon of the event.
I won the roll, just one day after passing the plate hat off KJ to a guildie who needed it more.
Karma?

Only thing I have missing for the title "Sinister Calling", but in my case, i never got the damn pet...
oh well, always next year i guess...

Does anyone know if we'll need to reacquire the masks we already have next year (for the achievement)? I think they're set to disappear in a few days. The wands, too, though I think they might be permanent.
Feanora Nov 2nd 2008 2:18PM
The "A Mask for All Occasions" won't be required for the meta-achievement "Hallowed Be Thy Name" next patch. That said, I've been insta-deleting masks and the record of collection is still in my achievements window, so go ahead and throw the masks away. Wands are permanent.

Going to miss the boatloads of XP from tossing some water on a burning building. I even logged into alts I don't play just because the XP was so good.
Last night I sat around on a server waiting to do stop the fires but nothing was happening. Well that's Khadgar for you, the realm seems like it's on fire all the time and crashing but buildings don't burn when you want them to.

Running around to all the inns for the pumpkins was worth 2 levels too. The even was good xp all together.
Todd Nov 3rd 2008 12:43AM
Yeah great xp especially with RAF! I got 10 free levels on all my alts just because of the fire deal and porting eachother to all the inns around the world and outlands for more easy xp and candy.

Yea, never got the pet either, from HH or from trick or treating (5 hallowed helms over the course though), never even saw the mount drop :( but I'd have been happier to just get the pet for the title. 12 more months to go before I can hope I get achieve the right random number *g*

I'm still sad I didn't get the mount. As a female, I felt compelled to have a flying pony for the game. My poor guildies farmed HH every day over 50 times a day for me.
But, I've heard the mount won't be returning next year, so I'm really saddened, and hope Blizzard puts in another flying pony sooner or later.

Crap, I hope that's not true! D:

Don't beat yourself up. Someone on my server counted off every time he killed HH. He ran it about 380 times, because he was offering to pay a large amount of gold for passes on the mount. Everyone invited him to run, and he still didn't get the mount.
Only thing that can get you that mount is a crazy-stupid-retard luck. Even with that, you will probably get outrolled.
Jake Nov 2nd 2008 6:11PM
Yeah, I feel your pain Zach, day after day I would log on/off every hour to try and get the helm through trick 'r treating and not once would it drop. Oh well, next year will be more fun as I'll have 2 more 70's to enjoy it with!

I got my title, talk about beating RNG, really should remove that.

Being the lowly level 55 that I am, I was unable to even encounter the headless horseman boss, but I was able to grab the sinister squashling and the hallowed helm just from trick or treating. I also got a lot of the Hallow's End achievements completed. So all in all, I consider the holiday a success for myself.

I had the irony of getting the mount on my druid, my one character least likely to use it. My paladin will be taking over the tanking duties and my druid is largely going to farm mats in WotLK, for which swift flight form is a better ability.

Never saw the mount drop in all the 5 summon groups I was in. And I went most days. I guess it exists.
Hammerslight Nov 2nd 2008 2:57PM
Go ahead and hate me, I had a demon's own luck with both the invasion and the Hallows End events, as a newly minted 70 pallie. (just dinged the day before)
He started off winning the pumpkin helm, horseman's sword and mount the first few days, went through a dry spell as the zombie plague went rampant, ended up getting both plate drops from the rare invasion mobs and Shadows, quickly got enough stones for the purchased epics, then polished it off with a squashling pet and the horseman's helm 1 day before the event ended.
In less than 2 weeks, I went from a quest green-and-blue heavy newb to being nearly half epic'ed and with a sweet new ride. These events were VERY good to me. X-D
Malkeior Nov 2nd 2008 3:03PM
The ironic part is, in two weeks, you be a green and blue geared noob again :P

"In fact, as the clock struck precisely at 4pm, the giant pumpkin disappeared, leaving us stupefied."
Actually I think that was a bug. It happened to my wife and I twice through the week.
When it came to the drops, about 90% of the time a ring dropped. The Hallowed Helm and the pet seemed to come out in about 7% of the fights, often with a ring as well; twice they both dropped at the same time. The sword dropped 7 times and the helm about 5.
We saw the mount drop 5 times. My wife got 1 on her lock and 1 on her priest. I picked 1 up on my mage. We both completed sinister calling on 2 toons. Her level 14 rogue also completed it through trick or treating and the daily town burning quest (making 3 for her).
These are not exact numbers, just rough estimations, we ran the event everyday all but 3 days.
