Scourge Invasion comes to a close
As of 3PM PDT (6 PM by WoW Insider's clock) the Scourge are retreating from Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms on most servers, and the Scourge Invasion has come to a close... for now. In each of the capital cities there is still an Argent Dawn Champion handing out their Stamina consumables, as well as Argent Quartermaster so you can spend the last of your Necrotic Runes. The necropoleis, however, are all gone.I fully expect we'll see something else crop up in the next week, not only because Tigole said so, but because it'd be really weird if the final week leading to Northrend is completely barren. There are also things we know are coming but aren't here yet... but those are spoilers, so we won't go into detail.
If anything happens, we'll make sure you hear about it, so keep an eye out. I doubt anything will happen this evening, but I've been wrong before.

Yeah that was actually a bug fix, it was always supposed to be like that. The gloom and the fog are now working as intended...

seems like the servers have to hit 300 or so for the event to end. So those that hit it already had the event stop at 3pm. But other servers, like mine, that are only in the 200s, are still getting attacked.

Kara Boss still there. Killed him today and got my axe =D
Ametrine Nov 4th 2008 7:44PM
Damn... I don't get my pants... that was the ONE piece of the set that never dropped.

Blues say they stopped the zombie plague as part of the storyline, but if so this was a really weak section of it.
Backs up against the wall, the combined races of Azeroth suddenly get a weeks vacation while the zombie disappear and the scourge continues to attack sections of the world that noone cares about by, and this is the best part, STANDING AROUND IN A CIRCLE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE.
How can we stop such nefarious plots?!
Vincent Avatar Nov 4th 2008 7:52PM
Seriously, it was basically the lamest event ever... that they gave to us a second time.
Penguin the Other White Meat Nov 4th 2008 8:19PM
At least you could ignore this part of the event.
The zombie event was a bit much, imo.

I'm on Dath'Remar and the necropoli are still around and we're at 294 battles have been won ........ I think it's server independant as to when the invasion retreats.

Invasion still going strong on Burning Blade - US

Hmm, took me 1 hour to farm the crap out of the Shards, bought tons of the blessed epics and ended up with 31 Void Crystals, not bad for an hours worth of work.

You know, if Blizzard had any gusto, we should see a full on scourge invasion that completely ousts us from all of our capital cities for at least a week. Setup temporary AH's in shatt (a neutral one even) and minor towns so as not to disrupt the economy too greatly. Do the same with trainers. But make it so that no one has any capital cities until we push and chase them back to Northrend

I took would like to see a world event that really makes a big hit to the Alliance and Horde.
The zombie thing was a start, but seemed to die in a damp squib. No real epic finale.
The problem is, all the PvP scrubs would whine about not being able to queue for their 10 weekly games of arena, or AFK in Ironforge the other 158 hours.

I'm still waiting for the hat eating...

On the Llane server there is a HUGE necropolis near Lights Hope Chapel. There are the usual ones we are used to, but in the distance, you can see one that makes a typical necropolis seem puny in comparison. I tried to run around to get a better view, but even with max distance on, I can only make a basic outline of the 'fortress'.
Galmr Nov 5th 2008 12:19AM
If the necropolis you're referring to is the one I'm thinking of, then that is not part of the Scourge invasion. It is in fact the starting zone for Death Knights. From what I understand, you will start off high above the Plaguelands aboard the floating necropolis, and after about an hour's worth of questing through the storyline, make your way to the ground below (in the new part of the zone behind all those Scarlet elites).
Lovi Nov 5th 2008 12:39AM
Ah ok. Ive been running around EPL for a few days in and around Lights Hope, and had never seen it, so thought it was some new part of the invasion. Thanks for the info.
Wispur Nov 5th 2008 12:46AM
Saurfang was actually gone in 3.0.2. Ie, he's been gone for awhile.
Don't feel bad about not noticing, I was the only one in my guild to notice, lol.
Ogou Nov 5th 2008 1:17AM
I really have to say I love the idea of a person (as in the screenshot) telling you that you are no longer needed, and you reply, "give me one of your magical items." Robbing your boss right after being fired is the new black.
P.S. Obama 08 Woo!

Just got done farming the ones in EPL on Blackwater Raiders (RP). It was well below 300 wins but when I just checked for some reason it had bugged and went back down to around 69. There are still purple skulls and invasion sites. Managed to get the armor pieces and two quests done for my 52 shammy - nice to have when he hits 70.
MooGooGaiPan Nov 5th 2008 1:50AM
Garona was still under attack around 1am EST. Some spawns had 2 shards @ them though...
