Reserve your Death Knight name right now
Cameo of Dethecus has a good idea -- if there's a specific name for your Death Knight that you want, probably best to grab it right now. You can create a character with the name on your server right now, and then when Wrath comes out next week, delete the placeholder character and the name should be freed up for your DK.During the beta, I called my Death Knight Dingbat, only because it was the first thing that jumped to mind. But it was a little silly to hear the great knights of the Scourge ordering me around as Dingbat, so I'll probably go with something a little more threatening for the actual release: Marton? Erathor? Killahdk?
Whatever it is, now's probably a good time to check and make sure your name is free and get a toon in place before someone else takes it. And please: spare us from the "Darth" names. Nobody, including Arthas, wants those.

No kidding! And why didn't I think of making a placeholder when moving a toon, too, so I could get a free name change?!
/sarcasm off

Yea, i did this a couple of months ago, i still didnt get the first 5 names i wanted but i found one that i do like though
jbodar Nov 5th 2008 10:32PM
Yeah, depends on the name obviously, but if you haven't reserved your name by now, start learning how to enter ASCII characters now.
Yeng Nov 6th 2008 11:09AM
Yeah, I did that soon as I learned about DKs...quite some time ago. I have a lvl 1 shaman just waiting to get deleted :D

Special characters added to your name just look lame, I'm sorry. Unless its clearly a name that needs those characters (I think there are some, like Zoƫ) it just looks like you couldn't use your first choice because someone beat you to it.

I have my name reserved.
"Obligatory."
As in, "This is my obligatory death knight."

LOL, I think that's awesome just because I did the same thing with a red-haired, female blood elf paladin.
Of course, the joke doesn't mean so much now that TBC is, what, two years old? She didn't hit 70 until after patch 2.4. I had created her basically just to see the new content and story in the BE starter zone, and once she hit 20, played her little or not at all until my main was raiding and stuff.

Probably a bit late actually. I know a lot of people have been reserving DK names almost right after the announcement of DKs.
Still worth trying if u have a name u really want.

FTW. A hundred thousand internets to you, sir.
Jason Nov 5th 2008 8:10PM
Yeah, I know a lot of people who did this ages ago, some even when news of Death Knights came out.
Me, I was going to make a troll DK named Xaj, but it's already taken on my server. Ho hum.

Speaking of reserving a slot, if you make a character of every class on a server, you have one slot open for the new deathknight, what happens if they add a class (as some say they have said they will), will we have to delete a character or grab more servers?
havitech Nov 5th 2008 8:18PM
That's a silly question. How would anyone know if they'll add another character slot for something that at this moment is completely hypothetical?
Andrew Welch Nov 5th 2008 10:27PM
You can only make 50 characters max
Kakistocracy Nov 6th 2008 12:15AM
And that, havitech, is a silly response, how can I know that no one knows?
