WoW Moviewatch: Ashbringer : The Return of Tirion Fordring
Have care! This movie has spoilers.
Today's Moviewatch is also the featured movie for WarcraftMovies. It is Ashbringer : The Return of Tirion Fordring by Atraira. I didn't want to feature the same movie on the same day, but with the coming release of Wrath, the subject matter is pretty timely. This movie recreates the end of the Death Knight quest chain in video format.
I really liked the story, voice acting, and lore. I watched the video once, enjoyed it, and then listened to the dialogue again while not watching the video. The script is very strong, and the dialogue fits the ambience of Wrath of the Lich King incredibly well.
The camera work, though, didn't do a lot for me. I enjoyed the visuals, and there's only so much Atraira could have done recording scripted in game events. But they still felt a little static to me. We could have used some more dynamic shots, or maybe clever use of shooting angles to mimic the emotion we were hearing from the actors. Atraira admitted frustration while recording the events, and I definitely have sympathy for that.

huh? Its not a spoiler that tirion returns.
FailedNinja Nov 5th 2008 4:19PM
Maybe I missed or discounted it (since I did the event on beta), but I don't remember reading any official material about Tirion showing up with the Ashbringer. I definately didn't know when I did the event.

You wouldn't be reading this blog if you are afraid of spoilers, to be honest.

Well that does not mean you shouldn't warm people does it? because by that logic we should remove all "warning do not run on the tracks" because hey tracks are for trains after all....

might be just me, isn't this just the event taking place at LHC, it's just recorded there (which doesn't make it less awesome), the original voice acting added to it, and some nice music.
Aldheim Nov 5th 2008 12:59PM
Not sure how it's really a spoiler besides the inclusion of the word "Ashbringer." Everyone's known Tirion Fordring was going to be making a big splash eventually for over two or three years, right?

so what exactly is under lights hope chapal?
sneekr Nov 5th 2008 7:38PM
I was wondering the very thing. But with continued research I have yet to find out what they're referring to. But, Fordring does mention that the souls of all that have died during the wars are buried there, so they may be whats under the chapel. Which makes sense, I don't have anything to reference it to though.

I just wanted to point something out:
"I really liked the story, voice acting, and lore. The script is very strong, and the dialogue fits the ambience of Wrath of the Lich King incredibly well.
The camera work, though, didn't do a lot for me. I enjoyed the visuals, and there's only so much Atraira could have done recording scripted in game events."
I find it funny that this movie is getting so much press, when in fact, all the things you liked (visuals, voice acting and lore) were all not thanks to the author. In fact, all he did was the camera work and soundtrack choice. And I see that you weren't even fond of one of his tasks.
It just seems like all he did a good job with was picking a good soundtrack and putting the clips together decently well. The camera work wasn't that good, and all the things that WERE good, are not thanks to him.
