Breakfast Topic: How are you buying Wrath of the Lich King?
In less than a week, at 12:01 AM on 11/13/08, Wrath of the Lich King will be available and (hopefully) live on the servers. If you, like many of us, are planning to get the expansion immediately, how are you going to get it? After all, there are so many options:- Pre-Order for in-store pickup: You can pre-order your copy and then pick it up when it is available. This works great if you are going to a Midnight Launch or you just want to make sure it is available when you are able to get to the store.
- Pre-Order for delivery: You can pre-order your copy to be delivered to your door. Amazon even gives an option to have it delivered before midnight. Though if you want the Collector's Edition, you have to catch Amazon during one of the brief windows it is available.
- Midnight Launch: You can wait to buy it at any of a number of Midnight Launches. Many stores will have copies of both the regular and Collector's Edition available for people who show up at the event but have not pre-ordered. Even select 7-Eleven locations will be participating in the midnight events.
- Wait for the Digital Download: This may be the only option for many. Though Blizzard will offer a Digital Download eventually, it will not be available immediately. (Update: It seems it may be available launch day.)
- Shop after launch: Another option, particularly if you want the Collector's Edition, but have been unable to pre-order one, is to see what is available after the 13th. Burning Crusade Collector's Editions were available long after launch and it is likely Blizzard produced enough this time as well.

I pre-0rdered my collector's edition at GameStop. Not sure how we'll buy the other three copies we'll need for the rest of the family.

Preordered mine from Wal-Mart since they were the only retailer to still have the Collector's Edition.
Quote: "Burning Crusade Collector's Editions were available long after launch" - Yes, I still have some :(

I guess you could say I preordered it in a way lol I actually just spoke to a mate who runs a gaming store and will be recieving my copy as soon as he gets the delivery in and will crack a box open up to a day or two before the actual release date :)
Will have it installed and all ready to go well before the content is unlocked. GG

Off to the launch at HMV in London again. It was good fun for tBC, so hoping for more of the same.
Got copies on pre-order as well - just in case.

Currently, I'm in Japan, so I have it pre-ordered to ship to my house in America, but then I'll probably wait until I go home around Christmas. :(

Midnight release party!
Though I suspect the party'll be not much more than picking it up and walking out of the store...

haha yeah. Unless I'm in the mood for nerd talk I'll probably just put my ipod on and ignore everyone.

I'm going to buy the Special Edition on the day it launches after I'm freed from the chains of school. No pre-order, I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of them available anyway.
If they aren't available in my hometown, I'll probably travel to Helsinki to get my copy. :P

Paid in full and re-ordered at local gamestop. I'll get my copy at 12:00Am, and probably never show up to work the day after!
Drow Nov 7th 2008 9:34AM
I've had mine on pre-order for some time, and would call them every week seeing if I could upgrade to the CE. I did it the first day I could, which is good because by that evening they were out. I'm going for a midnight release, which is kind of stupid it's on a Thursday. I'm going go home to take a nap after work so I can do this.

I originally pre-ordered the regular release for in-store Pick-up at GameStop a while ago. Then a few days after they announced the CE and then said they were sold out I decided I wanted that instead. So, I have been patiently stalking all the websites, and finally yesterday I managed to sneak in a pre-order for the CE at Amazon.com for Release-Day delivery. Now I just need to call GameStop and cancel my pre-order of the regular release.
