The 15 most beautiful Hunter pets
We hunters love our animal companions, especially Beast Mastery hunters -- many of us view the synergy between beast and master as the biggest reason for choosing this class, and we identify as much with the animal as with the humanoid. Big Red Kitty, arguably the most famous hunter in the world, is a case in point: so much of who he is would be much less clear if he had chosen the name "Short Red Dwarf." The image of dwarf and cat (Hobbes) together is an essential part of his hunter persona.
So it's no surprise that so many hunters are willing to go to such great lengths to get the pet that looks just right. Many hunters are willing to spend hours just waiting and waiting in order to find that one special most beautiful pet, and why not? After all, the look of our character will change lots of times as we upgrade our gear, but our beautiful pet will stay more or less the same -- it's worthwhile to put a bit of extra effort into making it look nice.
But which pets look the best? Below, I present to you the award winners in the category of Most Beautiful Pets! Check out the gallery below for a look at each pet and a short description of where you can find it.
(But what's that you say? You don't care if your pet is pretty or not? You want something that will scare the pants off your enemy? Stay tuned -- winners in the Most Intimidating Pets category are coming up!)

I've definitely put more importance on my pet for my second Hunter than I did for my first. I tamed Bjarn in Dun Morogh as my first pet and he's still at my side.
I really want Uhk'loc one of these days. The gorilla's usefulness in 3.0.2 is just great, and I want to have a theme of white for all my pets. Plus he just looks so incredible!

I think David may be wrong on this. There is another albino gorilla in the game. It's the quest in STV called (i think) "Stranglethorn Fever". It's the one where you take a gorilla tooth to the troll witchdoctor in the cave near all the gorillas just outside Booty Bay. He does a little ritual and a few waves of gorillas come that you have to kill followed by Mokk the savage. I can not speak to whether he's tamable or not, but he's definitely albino

Ikarus,
Yeah, it's the same model, but he's not tamable. I was hoping I could tame Mokk, but I guess not =(

Thanks so much for this. I used it to find just the right kitty for my huntress. The ghost saber is just fabulous!

Great guide! My pets are very important to me, and have been from the beginning. They are my best friends in game and my guildies laugh at me because I get upset when they "die".
Thanks for the great pictures! I love all the cats and have a few of them. I am planning on taming Nuramoc as soon as I can find him :)

You're welcome (to all the above)! Beautiful pets are great, but it's even better to share their beauty with others who get to see them too. When you tame a beautiful pet, you gain a movable art gallery.
Okay. Maybe that's a bit of a stretch; it's more like a movable painting from one art gallery within an even larger art gallery that is the world... or something. But you see my point. Share the beauty. :)

i don't understand the white pet obsession. I like the look of my red gorilla from feralas way more than the white one from un'goro.
David Bowers Nov 9th 2008 9:27AM
Yep. That's the problem with "beautiful" -- everyone's got different ideas of what the most beautiful thing is. In cases where there were several choices available, I either chose the one that was rarest or the one I personally like best (and have heard others compliment as well). I believe on every page with more than one color choice I also linked to Wowhead's gallery of different skins so that you can find which one looks best to you.

problem... or blessing? ;)

I like the purple/red wasps way more than the green ones.
David Bowers Nov 9th 2008 9:29AM
Yep. That's why you can click the link that lets you go to wowhead and see the different color choices to decide which you like best. "Beauty" is a subjective judgment, and I don't expect everyone to agree with me. Take this more like a general guide rather than a hard and fast standard for everyone in the game.

No spiders??
C'mon now 4 cats and no Myst Spinner? Bit phobic maybe... hmmm...
David Bowers Nov 9th 2008 9:30AM
Spiders would be more "intimidating" than beautiful in my book. There's an intimidating pet gallery coming later.

"arguably" is the key word there. Lactose and Cheeky did infinitely more work on the hunter class than BRK did. Yet their work is underappreciated because every mouthbreather copypastes a macro from EJ and spams his mousewheel like there's no tomorrow.
You people disgust me.
David Bowers Nov 9th 2008 9:32AM
Yes. "Arguably" is the key word there. That's why I chose it. I didn't say that BRK is the best hunter in the world (gosh... how would I even know who that is?) -- even he doesn't claim that. He is quite famous, though, and quite good also. If you believe someone else deserves to be more famous because they're better than he is, then by all means continue to believe as you do and let others know about who your favorite hunter is. I have absolutely no problem with your preference.
Sorry my preference disgusts you though. Would you like a doggie bag?
Dunhear Nov 9th 2008 10:01AM
Someone with the nickname "Penishead" calling anyone else in the world a mouthbreather is the kind of juxtaposition that unravels entire universes.
You should be more careful.

Alright, I'll be the first to say it.
THE EFFING POP UPS PISSED ME OFF.
I stopped looking at the gallery the THIRD time the stupid GM truck showed up in front of the picture and I couldn't get rid of it.
I have pop ups blocked for a reason.
Having these horrible little psuedo-pop ups get in the way of actual content is annoying as hell.
Could someone tell the webmaster to not have them show up in gallery pictures?
Hurode Nov 9th 2008 9:51AM
Firefox + Adblock (with whitelists for your favorite sites) + Noscript (again, with whitelists for your favorite sites) = all of your ad/popup/annoyance woes are over.
Mel Nov 9th 2008 9:52AM
Firefox + NoScript + AdBlockPlus = What popups are you talking about? ;)
Angus Nov 9th 2008 10:28AM
Using safari.
I'll try it out on firefox.
