Maintenance for Tuesday November 11th
There will be downtime tomorrow for the U.S. realms between 5:00 a.m. PST and 11:00 a.m. PST. The maintenance will undoubtedly be getting the servers ready for the release of Wrath of the Lich King Wednesday night. We're hopeful that this will be the only downtime this week. When Burning Crusade was launched the servers were only taken down the a couple days prior to its release. We expect the same thing to happen for Wrath.
There is also no indication that a patch will be delivered with this downtime. We give it a 50/50 chance of a small patch coming out the night of Wrath's release however, and wouldn't be surprised at all to see some hotfixes go in place over the next several weeks.
Of course, this downtime could be setting up another stage of the world event happening tonight.

Er, 5 to 11 is standard maintenance, not extended. Extended starts at 3.

Well i hope that we dont encounter any problems whit WotLK in the future... but as we seen what happend whit patch 3.0.2 i`m not so sure that we will have a *smooth* launch

5-11 is the normal maintenance time. 3-11 is extended maintenance.

Bummer. And I'm off tomorrow for Veteran's Day. Well, thanks to all you Vets out there who have made sacrifices for us. You are appreciated.

If I were to hazard a guess I'd hope they're at least adding in the voiceovers for the yells you see from Herald of the Lich King... These voiceovers were actually in the MPQ's during beta.

But....
The voice overs were shit, It would be like listening to someone take the piss out of how serious I'm sure Blizzard want this event to come across.
Think of it as one of those really bad Saturday morning cartoon villain voices and you might see what I mean.

Do you people at WI pay attention? Last week you post a story stating that it wasn't extended maintenance, yet the time was specifically 3-11. And now we have this. The quality of writing/research here is almost as bad as the new site design.

this is not good, i understand why they need to put the down time in OCE peak time usable but guess what, all oce players who have jobs basically miss the launch even in SW and ORG, this is just so disappointing and just shows Blizz lack of foresight for us Oce players this is yet another slap in the face, basically i have to subscribe (AND PAY) for get through to a proxy just go get pings of 300, because the servers could not be further away lol

I'm sure launch day is going to be fine, TBC was surprisingly good from my experience (aside from the belf area being devoid of any npc's for about 1/2 hour), the usual lag and realm lockouts are to be expected, hell the lockouts have already started on the Oceanic side (most of them too, not sure about U.S realms).

One thing I hate about WoW is this Tuesday maintenance crap. Of all the days. Tuesdays are always the days I have the most free time.
And let's be realistic, it'll be extended downtime. I haven't been able to get on until about 2 hours later than what the realms are suppose to be on for the past 2 weeks. That's about 4 freaking pm EST.

I mostly agree. I can understand the whole all machines will be offline for maintenance for 6 or 8 hours thing 5 years ago when technology was what it was at the time and Blizzard was small, but I don't understand why this is still necessary.
Does anyone else remember around the time BC came out when Blizzard announced that they were going to take a shot at "live maintenance"? If I remember correctly for almost a month they didn't have more than a rolling restart. I guess it was fail on some level, but from a player's point of view it was nice. :)

I hope the Wrath content gets enabled with this downtime. I was lucky enough to receive my game early (yesterday) and already have the Wrath client installed and patched to 3.0.3 and have my account upgraded to Wrath status.
So if I'm still lucky, I'll be in Northrend today. Or playing through the Death Knight quests. I haven't decided yet.

How amusing, extended downtime has been extended to 7pm now, wow's official stance, delete all threads in the forums asking why this is so or complaining, when that didnt work they blocked new threads and post replys, great work blizzard!!
