Fishing daily bug gives you the right fish first time, every time

And I thought I was just lucky -- apparently there really is a bug going around with the daily fishing quests that means you'll always get the special fish you're looking for on the first cast. The first time it happened, I was like hey, that's awesome. The second time it happened, I was like wow, I'm really getting a break on these fishing quests, and the third time it happened, I decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth. But Blizzard knows about the issue now, and I'd expect a hotfix soon.The one exception, of course was the Shrimpin' Ain't Easy quest that required you to fish up more than one Bloated fish to get at the shrimp inside. On that one, I can actually confirm that you didn't get the right fish every time, and it did take you the requisite 10 casts or so (which is what it's supposed to take for the other quests also, according to El's Anglin').
I have to say, I've really enjoyed both the fishing and cooking dailies (as I said on the podcast the other week, I just finally got my Delicious Chocolate Cake recipe for the "Cake is Not a Lie" achievement). Can't wait to see what kind of fishing and food we'll find in Wrath.

I wonder if it's related to all the quest items from the AQ40 sceptre line dropping 100%, no farming necessary!

Yeah - same bug with the gathering prof daily. If your a skinner, for instance, you may noticed that the nether residue drops every time you skin something rather than the one in 5ish chance prior to the patch. Very very easy gold now :)

I assumed it was on purpose, it's been like this since the Echoes of doom patch.
I just thought they'd made the drop rate nice and easy because they decided an "old" daily quest needn't be potentially tough to achieve. I shan't mind if they "fix" it though i've always liked the prof dailies. :)

I thought it was done on purpose also. Won't really matter if it gets fixed, but it was nice just having to drop in at the lake, quick cast, and be done with it in 10 secs :p

I also noticed this on the "Gaining the Advantage" daily quest for gatherers. Since Patch 3.0.2 came out I get a Nether Residue on each mob I skin. Eight dead mobs = quick 16 gold.

This happened to me until Saturday. I needed to get the croc from Org, not hard, right? I did it first cast every time until then.
Instead of getting the croc in 40 minutes of fishing, I got mudfish and FOUR Old Craftys. I ended up abandoning the quest and doing some BGs.

I had noticed that when you do get the 'special' fish you get both it and the fish you would have normally caught. I haven't been doing the daily that much so I guess I didn't notice that it was happening on the first cast all the time.

LOL i just thought I was insanely lucky. I came back to the game just before the patch, and since then I managed to get all the cooking recipes from the cooking daily & 2 of the Crocs from fishing daily & Cuff Links. I've now got all the cooking/fishing rewards except 2 of the crocs.
Can't wait to start fishing for the coins in Dalaran!

Heh... sure took them a while to notice! And here I was thinking that they were just giving us a break. Haha.
My very first daily quest after the patch was Crocolisks in the City where I fished up my quest item and Old Crafty on the first cast. I've heard of several people doing this.
I laid off the dailies and forgot about the first cast thingy... Last week, I picked up the daily and didn't realize I was still in a raid and was starting to wonder why I wasn't catching a crocolisk... The insanenly odd thing is that I fished up Old Crafty x4 within 30 casts. At that point, I dropped out of the raid and got my crocolisk on the first cast thereafter.
Now if only I had been so lucky when I ran into Ironforge... Only one death on the way to the pool, but after about 15 minutes of hoping for Ironjaw, I was finally killed and subsquently corpse-camped.

If you've got the "crockolisk in the city" (or whatever) quest it increases the chance of getting Old Crafty to like 30%.
You just have to destroy the crockolisk if you don't catch Crafty. Rinse and repeat, and you'll get him.
Doesn't work for Old Ironjaw though.

Very true. I got my Ol' Crafty on 2 characters in under 10 minutes. Just destroy the baby croc and keep going. Actually, I'm not sure if you need to destroy them or if having the daily quest is what makes Ol' Crafty more likely, but that's what I did and it worked.

Were you in a raid?
Almost the exact same thing happened to me! I caught Old Crafty x4 in less than 30 casts trying to to the daily before realizing I was still in a raid from the night before.
