Hints of another world event soon
This morning Nethaera, a community manager with Blizzard, posted the following on the general forums: "Perhaps something will be occurring before [the release of Wrath]. I guess it's something we'll have to wait and see."This comes in a response to a question asking if there will be a couple more surprises before Wrath of the Lich King.
Of course Neth is being her usual vague self here, not really committing to anything one way or another. But the comment does raise an eyebrow, and the fact that she even decided to respond to the question without a definitive "no" is good enough to speculate that there might be another world event headed our way.
The scourge invasion, as Zach contends in his breakfast topic this morning, ended rather abruptly. It was sort of like "Yes yes yes! Fun fun fun!" And poof! It's over. "Awww...." Perhaps this new world event will be the climax to the event, the one that pushes us all to the shores of Northrend to fight against the minions of the Lich King.
If there is a new world event, you can bet we'll have it covered from top to bottom. Stay tuned!
Thanks to Mk for sending this tip in!

I hear it might be a good idea to keep an eye on Orgrimmar. >.>

Ally might want to avoid Stormwind. Specifically the docks. If you are a little adventurous I'd recommend bringing some chocolate, graham crackers and delicious marshmallows! MMMmmmm smores.

I was just in Undercity (on a European server), and I suddenly saw an undead skeleton. One of the bankers said:
William Montague says: Did you see that? There's a Scourge over there!
The skeleton was level 63 and named "Flameshocker."
Is this something new?
Jim Nov 10th 2008 3:39PM
Nope. That's from the original Invasion, just updated for pre-Wrath. Been going on since the Necropoliseseseses started showing up.
Wispur Nov 10th 2008 3:41PM
No, this has been happening since the zombie invasion stopped.
Pakg Nov 10th 2008 3:40PM
Wow, their just having 1 world event after another with this expansion. I don't remember it being like this at all when TBC came out. Other than lagging out with the whole server at the Dark Portal.
oldwisemonk Nov 10th 2008 3:43PM
That was carefully planned by the Burning Legion. And they won that battle. Boy, did they.
Jim Nov 10th 2008 3:38PM
Full maintenance tonight - I'll wager we have something for the next couple days...
ayalafatalis Nov 10th 2008 3:39PM
We are still 'owed' a "Razing of Orgrimmar".
:)

Make that "let's toss all the cry-babies who ruined the zombie event into bonfires" and we'll have a great event.

This just in...
Blizz continues to disappoint with world events...lots of promises and misleading posts with very little to show. Anything that is enjoyable will be quickly nerfed and removed.

The 2nd part of your post was missing...
"...due in large part to the QQ'ing of thin-skinned PvE'ers who throw hissy-fits at being 'forced' to participate in an immersive, one-time event that disrupts their monotonous grinding and questing"

"...due in large part to the QQ'ing of thin-skinned PvP'ers who throw hissy-fits at enjoying forcing people to participate in an event which was disruptive and which griefed people repetitively so that they were not able to enjoy the game in the way they wanted to. And furthermore was only fun for players who enjoy being jerks in this one time immersive, one-time event - that disrupts their “chosen if they want to do it” rep-grinding and fun -questing. Because Pvpers don’t like questing they immediately try to pass off all questing and rep grinding as boring when in fact monotonous killing the same player over and over in BG and Arena is no fun at all."
FIXED.

Make that "let's toss all the cry-babies who cried when they got cleansed, were stopped when trying to grief others and basically swore, insulted and yelled at people and basically prevented people from playing the game because they “had fun” at other players expenses into bonfires" and we'll have a great event.
AND FIXED.
