WoW Insider Show Episode 63: Healing for fun and phat loots
It was all healers all the time this past week on the WoW Insider Show. Special guest tree Druid Phaelia joined us from her site, Resto4Life.com, and our good friend Matt "Matticus" Low brought his priestly insights from World of Matticus (and our own Spiritual Guidance column), and our producer Elizabeth Harper brought some Paladin judgement to the table. We chatted about how healing is going lately in the game, which classes are doing well lately (and which are doing not so well), and what Ghostcrawler might do for healers to make things more fun than whack-a-mole. We also talked about the 3.0.3 patch, and where we've been in the beta, and where we're going first on launch day.Additionally, we talked with Phaelia about how she started in WoW and decided to start blogging about it, and we answered your emails, including what's up with those dragon heads you sometimes see outside of Stormwind and Orgrimmar, and the best glyphs for healers. If you've got a question or comment for the show, send it along to theshow AT wowinsider dot com, and you might even hear it on next week's show.
Lots of ways to listen to the show after the break -- don't forget that the earliest you can listen to the show is on Saturday evening: we've got the Ustream recording up right after we finish making it. But the best time to listen to the show is during, because every Saturday we do this live on our Ustream page (and you even get to attend the non-recorded aftershow). If you've never been, check it out next week.

Not only do you now float in levitate, but one of your legs is slightly bent at the knee with the toe pointing down. It looks really awesome. They changed that a bit over a year ago.

Man, I feel left out being a resto shaman.
Gemski Nov 10th 2008 12:45PM
I didn't understand Mike's resto shammy comments. Pre 3.0 all end game raiders needed resto shaman. In pretty much all 25 man raids resto shaman were the top healers. o_O
From my personal raiding experience it was holy paladins that were hurting after 10 mans.
I can't say how this patch has changed things since everything is so easy at the moment. Any class heal right now, we'll see at 80 though.
Also as far as the podcast is concerned the production value is still lacking but the content keeps me interested. I also don't know how much can be done considering it's live. Seems like all the live shows turned podcast tend to have poor audio quality.

Doesn't seem to stop WoW Radio or The Instance, they both do their shows live and they sound great.
Gemski Nov 10th 2008 2:40PM
I always thought WoW radio's audio was poor too. Never knew the instance was live. If that is the case find out what they do asap and make WoW Insider sound like that.

WoW Radio's audio quality poor? Have you been listening to the same station as the rest of us? I did a bit of production in college, and considering they're running what, 10 shows from different home studios, I'm amazed they do as good a job as they do. It varies a bit from show to show but honestly, they sound as good as The Instance. You can spot the difference between the WI show they did, and the one that's done now in a flash. WI should read their Podcast 101 forum. Total biscuit posted the method they use to do Skype podcasting. I think it was the same as what they used to do with the WI show.
WI got me into WoW Radio and I listened to all the WoW Insider Shows but it's obvious somethings gone really wrong in the transition. They dont sound close to what they used to.

I thought the show was rather poor this week, feels like its lacking host wise after loosing Turpster and Duncor.
Also adudio quality seems lacking.
Some ok content tho, but not as good as it should be.
DeeDee Nov 10th 2008 1:47PM
Whats with the audio? Its not even close to how good it used to be.

I went to download the episode and you have last weeks show with BRK and BBB on the mp3 download.

You completely missed the best healers in game!

Resto Shammy's are the healing gods of wow, muuhahahhaha...

I find it kind of disappointing discipline priests are ignored completely in the podcast. The conversation was mostly aimed at the sitution now, and i reckon most priests that spec discipline at the moment probably lack the gear for the spec (mostly the crit).
Still i didn't hear a word about them, even though they are supposed to become quite decent healers (and they already are pretty ok with some crit gear from badges).
I liked the show, but I did miss that part :)

I think most pally healers don't use their full potential in raids. They stand off to the side like a tree or clothie or some other caster, when in reality they should be in the fray--especially these days.
In Hyjal, dropping consecrates, turning evil, and holy wrath are just as important as spamming Flash of Light.
Tonight, while fighting the Illidari council, nearly all the healers were oom, but I turned on Seal of Wisdom, judged with wisdom and was up to 80% mana from 4% in 8 secs.
Judging Light is also hugely important in keeping the raid topped off--and puts you at the top of the healing (and overhealing) charts.
I think that's the mechanic they are going after, anyway. Pallies should be getting their hands dirty in the name of the light.

What has happened to the intro theme song? Seems to have gone away since the move from wc radio.

Interesting read

I definitely thought that the "Important Message" on iTunes in place of the normal Insider podcast was amazingly childish.
I don't know any details, but seems to me that whatever happened, the WCRadio owner needs a binky or pacifier or something. Then... I could be wrong... but was that really Turpster, mocking the sounds of their voices? Really?
Someone more informed please let me know if this kind of behavior is standard from those dudes.
Man I dunno. Shame for everyone involved, definitely takes away from the quality of both organizations. Hope we still get decent podcasts and news out of it.
Judging from the audio quality of WI and the content quality of PUG, we all just lost. Big-time. Man-drama and pissing contests FTL, guys.
