Knaak signing at a midnight launch in Arkansas, Blizzard to release audiobooks
Live in Arkansas and can't make it to one of our meetups around the country tomorrow night? Author Richard A. Knaak will be holding a book signing at a store in Fayetteville, Arkansas. There will be copies of the new Night of the Dragon and Warcraft Legends vol. 2 available, but it's at Hastings Bookstore, so I'm not quite sure they'll have copies of Wrath there -- you may have to make a stop at a game store before or after. But if you're in AR and missing out on the festivities elsewhere (and are a fan of Knaak's Warcraft fiction), it's a place to be.And speaking of Warcraft fiction, Blizzplanet has the news that Blizzard is publishing three of the extended lore books in audio form, read by Dick Hill, an award-winning "Golden Voice." No news yet on whether the books will be in iTunes (that's pretty much the only way I listen to an audiobook these days, is downloaded onto the old iPod), but it's probably what'll happen. So if you've been putting off reading up on the lore because words hurt your eyes, maybe your ears will be able to do the job for you.

Awesome, I'm a fan or audiobooks and have been meaning to get my hands on some lore books. This'll make it a lot easier. BTW www.audible.com best place to get audiobooks!

Hastings is carring LK, the one in my area is doing a midnight release, but they're also a high volume store, so not sure about that store specifically.
They should though.

I entertain my employees for hours on slow nights by reading aloud from Richard A. Knaak novels. They tell me, "I should be a novelist! Apparently, you don't even have to know English!"
[har]
There are, indeed, some Warcraft novelists I'd wait in line, upon a dark, foreboding precipice where, if a being were to rest its weary orbs upon its majesty, that being would be stricken to its innermost soul by a deeply weighted, lead-like foreboding -- to meet them. However, and alas for the heavy sadness which this brings upon my weary spirit burdens my usally-jovial visage with an expression akin even to near-sadness, Richard A. Knaak is not one of them.

That was beautiful, but you forgot to mention the fact that you have crimson/titian/flaming locks/hair/tendrils every couple of sentences. Still, A++ would lol again.
Deadly. Off. Topic. Nov 11th 2008 3:55PM
I have to agree. I would never wait in line for someone I believe has horrible writing skills. His stories are poorly thought out, characterization is a joke and plot is non existent. I won’t read anything by Knaack unless I’m paid in compensation for the damage his lack of writing skill does to the brain.

My condolences to Fayetteville.

You could not get me to go to Arkansas. Even if you offered me free copy of Wrath from a model super model and 2 years free play time.

Dranon Nov 11th 2008 4:03PM
I also live in Arkansas There's not that much to do here, but at least that leaves me more time to feed my addiction...
to meth!
what addiction did you think I was talking about?
Drakensteel Nov 11th 2008 4:11PM
Lol. yea, WoW isnt an addiction, its everything else that is.
Also the house (formerlly) next door used to be a meth house. then it got raided, cleaned up, sold, and the...person....who bought it burned it down for insurence money. The flames were pretty, but it was bloody cold outside.

You can talk badly about Arkansas, but Fayetteville rocks.
Since 2000 it's been on more and more Top 10 Cities Lists. I've lived all over and this town has been one of the best places I've ever seen in my 40 years of moving around the US

Too bad the rest of Arkansas pretty much sucks. That's okay, we have a decent airport thanks to Wal-Mart, so you can be anywhere else you want to be in the space of two-three hours.

I just moved to the Fayetteville area after living in Little Rock for a few years. I do like it here a lot. I have to say though, that one of the only things I don't like is how most of the people I've met here seem to think that the rest of the state is so bad. I loved Little Rock and would live there again. It's really made a lot of improvements recently and only keeps getting better. Even some of the more rural parts of the state are some of the prettiest places I've ever visited. The rest of Arkansas has a lot to offer too.
In response to the topic of the column, I've never read anything by this author, but I may head down the street to Hastings for this event just to check it out.

I've seen Warcraft fanfictions better than Knaak's stuff. Heck, I've WRITTEN Warcraft fanfictions better than Knaak's stuff.
That said, aside from Christie Golden he's all we got. I look forward to her Arthas novel, but 'Day of the Dragon?' Eh. Not so much.
GrrFace Nov 11th 2008 5:12PM
I finished 'Day of the Dragon' last night. I've read worse, but it definitely could have been better. Starting into Golden's book now, if nothing else, it's a good way to waste time.

I moved from Northwest Arkansas a year ago. It's a great place to live. The rest of the state, not so much.
And I agree, Golden pwns Knaak, but I'd still have gone.
