Weigh in on the downtime debacle
It is no secret that servers have been seeing an awful lot of maintenance lately, and today has been the worst. While the blues have been encouraging and supportive, the frustration has been mounting, and many players are threatening to call it quits.
Of course, players threaten this on a daily basis, so it comes as no shock.
The responses on the forums, when they are available, on our own site, and in our team mail have made the WoW Insider team somewhat curious. How are you feeling about Blizzard today?

In before 5 million angry North Americans express their outrage at the year's biggest gaming screw up.

First positive comment!
I don't mind. I'd rather have extra downtime than have millions of players lose their mail.

Heyhey, I'm not an angry North American! The downtime is annoying and probably will keep me from getting my last drop that I want pre-expansion, but hey, it gave some of my guildies and I lots of time to go own face on Starcraft. Good times had by all.

RAAAAAGE ADAM HOLLISKY BROKE THE SERVERS I'M ONE OF THE FIVE MILLION ANGRY DUDES
Hey, I have no hard feelings. We're just seeing more of the one wing because the one wing IS louder.

Idk, the whole anti piracy thing on Spore was pretty god awful >

I don't have a problem with the realms needing to be offline for a while, but it is vaguely annoying when they say they'll be online at 6pm and here we are 3 hours later and they're still down, not only down, but completely, totally down.

Responding with GNERD RAAAAAAAAAAAAGEEEEE!!!
Seriously though, this is a really, really bad time for this to happen. First off, hello, Vet's Day for some players who were looking forward to getting stuff done. Second, a mere 48 hours before the expansion definitely makes your customers a bit concerned. I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard offered one of their fabled "free days" to make up for what had to be one of the worst MMO hiccups in history.

In before the trolling eurotrash!...... oh wait nvm

Personally, as an Oceanic player who's completely unaffected by Armistice/Veteran's Day, I must say this whole downtime doesn't perturb me in the least. All I'm doing is sitting in the office browsing WoWInsider anyway, which is pretty much what I usually do...

I've been doing homework and reading back-issues of Guildwatch. Life's good.
Nevermindz Nov 11th 2008 11:58PM
OK they messed up but I believe that there have been worst times than this one... At least on european servers.
I'm sad/angry but shit happens, eh?
Chuck (Arrinor) Nov 13th 2008 7:42AM
Personally I got everything I wanted done and was just running some dailies for gold the past couple days. I gotta say lost e-mail seems like a screwed up reason to have the realm servers down. It's just data - which I would hope that Blizzard has backup/redundancy and could populate e-mail data without interrupting our game play - seems fishy, I think there is more going on - but whatever the issue - get it fixed before tomorrow at midnight

A term I like even when I may not agree: C'est la vie.
Best to probably remain optimistic though.
Kaimu Nov 12th 2008 12:17AM
I'm glad they're doing their best to get everything sorted before the Xpac.
If the game lags and goes down for the Xpac, so what?
Its a game and I will play it because I enjoy it.
Really, I don't mind spending my time with my fiance doing something else rather than sitting home on WoW. (yes, we both play WoW)

I'm only replying so I can be on the first page!
WOW's downtime has resulted in many hilarious adventures for my now stinky pinky.

I'm sure my wife appreciated the realms being down all night. Bad time for the mail thing to happen though, I had all kinds of pricey merchandise that I had shifted around characters ready to gouge on expansion day if appropriate.

I'm sure they're doing their best but if this is how its going to be for the first days of Wrath, then i'm not getting the game for a while.
DWShammy Nov 11th 2008 11:45PM
I think they'll be ready by Lich King. I have faith... :/
