Weigh in on the downtime debacle
It is no secret that servers have been seeing an awful lot of maintenance lately, and today has been the worst. While the blues have been encouraging and supportive, the frustration has been mounting, and many players are threatening to call it quits.
Of course, players threaten this on a daily basis, so it comes as no shock.
The responses on the forums, when they are available, on our own site, and in our team mail have made the WoW Insider team somewhat curious. How are you feeling about Blizzard today?

Honestly, yes, Blizz has been messing up with servers, yes increased downtime has been slightly annoying. But we must remember a couple things, it's:
A) Near an expansion, so they are implementing many many new things to traditional (and sometimes older) servers.
B) Just a game. Yeah, downtime is frustrating, but there are other things to do. I know this gets tacked on to every post about server downtime, but you can find something to entertain you while it's down.

This is the first of many days to come this week... Let's hope I'm wrong. I want my Epic Moon Boots!
Doofy Nov 11th 2008 11:47PM
And Kalecgos, Sargeras and Moonrunner come up and immediately become Locked as millions roll level 1's to express their outrage to...other...level 1's...

I voted account cancel just because it's funny.
No, I am just a bit worried of this incredible downtime 24 hours before Wrath's launch.

Words can't describe how mad i am today, allot of my friends had school off today and there was allot we wanted to get done, well guess what, we got NOTHING DONE!

Judging by your spelling takng a day off from school for WOW should be the last thing you shoudl be doing :) just a thought :)

Gotta vote with the rather have them right, than on and borked. And with Wrath launching, I'd rather they get it running smooth as possible before hand.

just awful!

Inevitably it's a bit of a pain, but it's pretty easy to just find something else to do anyway. All the complainers, I don't see them jump for joy when there isn't maintenance on Tuesday.
Soriel Angelfyre Nov 11th 2008 11:47PM
well, i just hope that things dont crumble tommorow night when i start my deathknight (or take my pally to northrend...flipping a coin to figure what i wanna do first)

It's just a game, I'm sure they'll reimburse us for the down-time. There are so many other games out there to play, or you know, go outside and feel the sun, breathe in the fresh air. One day of down-time is not a rational reason to quit altogether.
Fallen Nov 11th 2008 11:47PM
This happens, it's more frustrating to see people complaining and being selfish about losing a single day of play time.
Blizz is working to fix it, let them work, give it a rest -_-
Mark Nov 11th 2008 11:47PM
I laugh at people who say they will quit. Sort of like the celebrities who say they will move out of the country if a president gets elected. Next day who still lives in the country? They will be on tomorrow.

I'm more frustrated by the bloggers who are constantly updating that yes, the servers are not up yet. Just...shut up.
Blizzard will have them back up soon. Goooooooddddd.
Aislinana Nov 11th 2008 11:48PM
Regular Livejournal bloggers, not...WoW Insider. >_>
Vandar Nov 11th 2008 11:48PM
I'd rather see downtime now then in a couple days when I will be eager to dive into Northrend and start leveling. I'm sure Blizzard is doing the best they can to rectify the situation and get the realms back up.
Personally I welcomed the downtime today. Gave me time to enjoy Veteran's Da and give my 89 yr old Grandfather a call and tell him his service in WW2 will not be forogtten.
davegrodriguez Nov 11th 2008 11:51PM
Very frustrating considering it's 2 days before release. I was expecting servers to be down due to all the people logging in on release day NOT a blunder by Blizz. Hopefully things will get better.
naylz Nov 11th 2008 11:48PM
I'm a bit pissed, but I'm more concerned with what this may be the harbinger of.... Something is broken between the player and the mail retrieval system, between us and, supposedly, very malleable files of information. If something as .... basic to wow as the mail system breaks, then what's next?
mcgrosh Nov 11th 2008 11:49PM
Seriously, we all know this is a game right, and that 1 day of maintenance only costs us about 50 cents. Remember people this isn't real and there are real people behind this business that are working insane hours right now trying to make our entertainment a bit better.
Let's have a bit of perspective on whats really important before we whine too much about something that isn't.
Vorgaak Nov 11th 2008 11:48PM
I'm frusterated because I was expecting to full clear BT with my guild tonight. I am also frusterated cause they are so darn lazy about updating us on the realm status - at least tell us its going to be down all day if you think it is.
I know these things are complex and problems probably occur cause of the unexpected, but it seems like this should be something they can fix. Throw some of your millions at it.
Does anyone really expect to be able to play WotLK on Thursday? That is the sad thing about this otherwise exciting time.
