Weigh in on the downtime debacle
It is no secret that servers have been seeing an awful lot of maintenance lately, and today has been the worst. While the blues have been encouraging and supportive, the frustration has been mounting, and many players are threatening to call it quits.
Of course, players threaten this on a daily basis, so it comes as no shock.
The responses on the forums, when they are available, on our own site, and in our team mail have made the WoW Insider team somewhat curious. How are you feeling about Blizzard today?

For me, it's a cross- I understand that they are doing thier best, but at the same time, I am in no rush to go out and buy LK, given that I expect this type of choas on patch days and expansion days.
It's a testimony to my sad life and blizzards great game that I can expect not to be able to play a game that I pay monthly for with relative frequency and I still pay up every month for my fix...

Downtime is downtime. This has been an unfortunate technical problem exacerbated by poor customer support (just one more hour, lolz!)
That is the beauty of a consumer-driven economy though. If it is really a big deal, the majority of people will come to realize it, and quit in a fit of gnerd rage.
I, on the other hand, will grumble while waiting patiently in the frozen tundra of Minnesota tomorrow night in line for WotLK.

As far as I am concerned - !@#$ happens!
With the millions of players, of whom there is a large crowd that has been playing for release...
A day's hiccup is something folks should be willing to forgive! Rather than being irresponsible and keeping servers live as people slowly but surely notice mail issues... They are taking the most LOGICAL approach to fixing it as possible..
As well thing about this:
NO MMORPG has ever hit this many users
THUS NO STAFF has ever had to be prepared for the amount of server load/stability that is required to house millions of characters...
THUS.....Blizzard has had to learn from other big MMORPG titles AND CONTINUE to learn on their own as the years go by!
In closing;
Give them a damn break ;)

Better to have happened now then on the day of release. Plus the anticipation makes it that much more enjoyable once it comes out.

I don't even use the mail system that often...I had all of today to play and instead I had to spend it with the family...THE HUMANITY!

Some realms are coming up it appears.

Normally I dont mind the servers being down, I usually have plenty of other stuff to do but the timing of this is incredibly bad. I had lots of things that I wanted to get done before the exp. Well even though I am very frusterated there isnt anything I can do about it except pray to the Blizzard gods that it comes up soon.

i'm extremely frustrated with the whole situation, but i'm glad things are getting worked out before the launch (hopefully)

I had some things I wanted to do today as Tuesdays are one of the days that RL issues tend to be less prevalent in my life. But.. oh well. There's always tomorrow.. or the day after... or the day after that. Hopefully it wont take that long to get things back in working order.

we didnt get to play wow a whole day, we had to go live our lives, wth am i paying $15 a month for!
Scott Nov 11th 2008 11:49PM
Well, it's a bit irritating, since I had the day off work, but whaddya know, I lived.
It does strike me as sort of amusing that some people seem to spend all kinds of time rattling on about how incompetent Blizz is, and yet somehow, also manage to spend days, weeks and months enjoying their product.

I'd been hoping to get my Belfadin to 30 (IE, mounted) before Wrath, she's my 'main alt' right now, but this sort of screwed that plan. She's at 24.5 right now, and I won't have a lot of time to play tomorrow.
On a positive note, the realm I usually play on (Moon Guard/US) has had queue times drastically reduced to obliterated, even at the busiest times, whereas they used to run to hours on weekends. It made attempting to raid an absolute terror.
Valineria, 70 Warlock
Vhelaire Tar'qui, Moon Guard's Golden Infinity

Well.....it seems all of wow is really messed up today....American Holiday.....Forums constantly unavailable.....main site unavailable at times......SUPER extended downtime (coming up on 15 hours of it being offline........I'd say they had a fun day over at blizz

Playing Dead Space :)
I've been meaning to get some extra time in from WoW to play it. I've been loving it so far :)
Nate Nov 11th 2008 11:51PM
If not being able to log into WoW for one night causes you more than just mild irritation then you need to reevaluate your relationship with the game.
xalomyn Nov 12th 2008 3:46PM
Well said.
We know Blizzard is good about reimbursing time lost due to maintenance. The lack of information was frustrating but anything they could've told us still comes back to "be patient, we're working on it."
manimal2878 Nov 11th 2008 11:50PM
I'm pretty pissed.
I am sitting about 2 bars into level 69 and was all set to spend today hitting 70 as it is a day off for government workers, vetrens day, and instead the whole thing is down.
Also the reason it is down annoys me. I know it is a clever way to have more storage space; to mail a ton of shite to your main and alts, but seriously, just sell the stuff, your clever little trick brought down the servers.
... so angry.
:)

I'm amazed they keep this game running most of the time. Its a great game and the sheer complexity that is required for a game like this means things stuff up occasionally, and thats okay, i mean, we've had a good run up till the patch, and thats always bound to have problems (its a computer. Computers stuff up :P)
Just think about all the days play time you've had on your characters. A few real time days play time is nothing in comparison to the fun i have :)
